Lorrie
I am looking for a sugar scrub that I can use on my face. I would like one that is natural. Anyone have one that they would like to share? TIA
singleyellowrose
IMHO, sugar in a facial scrub would be pretty rough. I use cornmeal and ground oats in mine.
soapermom
IMHO, sugar in a facial scrub would be pretty rough. I use cornmeal and ground oats in mine. almond meal is nice too.. I have used facial sugar scrubs that weren't any rougher than the apricotkernal scrubs, guess it depends on how fine the sugar is.. I like brown sugar emulsified scrubs for the face.. Lorrie
Do either of you have a recipe?
singleyellowrose
I use FBB right now & make it mostly for myself. I am in the process of trying to make my own Foaming Facial Scrub. However, you could do an emulsifying scrub and add the scrubbies that way. What oils/butters do you have on hand at present? That makes it a bit easier to help you come up with a formula to use. soapermom
try this( sorry I am on laptop and not near recipes so I am guestimating...) use 20% oil, use whatever oils you have on hand, one or a comboaround 7-8% butters(shea mango, cocoa etc)3% Ewax or beeswax4% stearic acidheat all this up to melt everything, throw in your exfolliant, sugar, brown sugar, oatmeal etc.. around 70% mix well...after that you can add your preservative and your FO if desired...I have a friend who beats the crap outta hers and literally makes scrubby lotion..but I dont like it mixed that well:)

ladysj
I would like to try this. How would I transfer the percentages to ounces?
MaryinCary
I would like to try this. How would I transfer the percentages to ounces? You would need to know the total of ounces that you want to make. Like thisTotal batch=24 oz.If an ingredient is 4% then you just get your handy dandy calculator and do 24 (total weight) X .04 and so on with the rest of your ingredients. ladysj
Thank you so much. I'll try that
elle110
I put sugar in my FBB and make a facial scrub, it is divine, not to rough at all and my testers have loved it:o
candelecandlecompany
The way I do the percent to ounces is say you are making 16 ozs. and you want to use 10 percent then you would take 16 x .10= 1.60 ozs. I hope this is what you are talking about...lol
ladysj
Yes it is. I flunked math needless to say lmao Well not really but it was close. Thanks for the help
cryptic
How long would this last if it doesn't have a preservative? Isn't it bad to put oil on the face? I am looking for a natural scrub to make as well, but don't know where to find a good easy natural recipe. For me, it's difficult to decipher a recipe when its written in veteran language or written inline within a paragraph, haha. I am still reading, but would appreciate any advice anyone would like to provide.
TexasBrat
here's one using FBBhttp://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10312&highlight=facial+scruband herehttp://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=bbrecipes;action=display;num=1081861605;start=10#
Laura
i just use my whipped butter recipe and add some brown or white sugar. works great and not too rough for my sensitive cheeks. bonus is it works like the OCM and doesn't leave your skin stripped afterward. sage
Does anyone have a recipe for sugar scrub that uses a fruit powder and is thick? This recipe sounds like it may be thick but wanted to use or try a fruit powder for natural color and scent.
