  1. I understand what your saying. My customers told me they wanted the same thing. A one or 2 word name so I came up with Candele. I wanted something different but that would stick out. Candele means candles in portugese. I wanted a foreign word but nothing ridiculous. So I went to alta fish translate and kept typing words to see what they would be in another language. Candele is the closest I came that sounded fine and my customers love it.
  2. Now Brenda I love that one...it's so simple but yet sounds elegant. That could be a nationwide company! Love it!
  3. My favorite blend is our C3 blend....Duhhh I thought you meant scent.....guess I need to go to bed! Good night!
  4. I'm with you candledog. I use the ecos from Lonestar and the results are great!
  5. Sure...I usually pour at about 120 for the C3--or a real slushy stage. Then stir up good right before you pour. let the candles cool themselves down. And whatever you do....Do not put them in fridge or freezer! They will definitely crack. I know most people say to pour C3 hot but I have been playing with it for like 2 years now and that was what worked for me. I add the beeswax because I wanted to keep the wax as close to natural,,,besides the scent,,, as I could. (Our candles are totally colorless unless the scent tints them). My 2 year old has some respiratory problems so paraffin it totally out of the question! Sounds like the "parafin before beeswax" guy was pitching to you. Hope this helps!
  6. What you do and how you handle it is totally up to you. We do offer a stand if the store wants one. We also sell in cases of at least 4. It just rounds things up for us. Also, when you sell wholesale you make more money the more candles you sell. So selling them by the case, to us, we found is best. Once the store has a "relationship" established with us, then we allow them to mix n match the scents per case of candles. Until then, we require them to by 1 case of 4 per scent. We never sell on consignment because most places don't care about your candles and some don't even try to sell them. Hope this helps...
  7. The only time I have ever had soy crack is when I tried to put the candles in the fridge (when I first started making them). I never did that again and I haven't had any problems since.
  8. OMG they even tell you how big the print on the ingredient label needs to be.....geeesshhhhh....
  9. Here is a link t the FDA. http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/cos-lab1.html As I can see it has all of the regulations there.
  10. I use Cargill Nature Wax C3 and I never have the problem of frosting on the tops. I also use eco wicks as well. I used to use EZ Soy but I always got the frosting effects and many of my customers didn't like the look. Sometimes I could take a hair dryer to them to smooth the tops out but I didn't want to hassel with it anymore.
  11. Do you know where to get Vitamin E whoelsale. Everywhere I have looked is soooooo expensive uggghhhh!!!
  12. I looked on the web site you are talking about to see what she had and when I went to checkout it said that I would be charged actual shipping when it was totaled but for now I would be charged just the price to pay it. My website calculates shipping when you checkout and I wouldn't have it any toehr way. If shipping can't be calculated when I checkout, I just won't buy. I know some people want to charge exact shipping rates but I can't take the chance of my cc being charged way more than I could pay.
  13. The scented oils we make and sell do wonderful in potpourri burners/oil burners. The only problem I have had is we only use the purest oils and just the other day I just made a batch of Blueberry Cheesecake. My hubby saw it and loved the smell. He dumped some in one of our potpourri burners and I thought I was going to croak! I love the smell but it really needed to be cut with dpg, at least once! So I guess it would just depend on the scent and the strength. We always recommend that if customers buy our scents to use in potpourri burners that they either buy the dpg and cut it themselves or buy the strength that we cut just for that use! We have never had any problems with the flashpoints and we test all of our oils before we sell them.
  14. Boy I wish I would have known the citronella eo would make a lady go into labor early! 5 of my 7 children were late....like up to 3 weeks late.....uggghhhh....
  15. What kind of soy are you using? maybe it is your fo....not sure. When I used a specific type of soy wax mine kinda did that. I changed waxes and mine are fine now.
  16. lol...Next time they ask for 12 candles for $70.00 ask them, "which scented 12 pack tea lights do you want....lol.hehehehehe
  17. Here is what I use: Type of Soy or Soy Blend you use? Container wax and tarts = Cargill NatureWax C3 One Pour Soy. Votives= Eco Soya PB. Additives if any? We only use UV Inhibitor= 1/4 tsp. per lb. of soy wax. Preferred dyes? Color Buds and Color blocks. Preferred wick (Not sizes)? We only use ECO wicks for all of our wicking needs. Pouring temp you recommend? We pour our soy candles anywhere between 100-125 degrees. What you do to prevent frosting? We don't do anything to prevent this because we don't have this problem. What you do to prevent rough tops? We never have rough tops. Do you do anything to prevent wet spots? We never have wet spot in the frosted jars but we do occassionally with the clear jars. We heat the clear jars to about 150 degrees in an oven before pouring the candles. Hope this helps!
  18. I used that EZ Soy once and I didn't like the way it cured and burned. For some reason it was cakey and lumpy.
  19. Opps sorry. I guess I never really paid attn. to the name of the soy wax they use. I just call up Paula from the jar store and order some when I need it. It is called Cargill NatureWax C3 One Pour Soy - 50lb Box . Sorry I didn't post it in the last post. As a container wax my customers seem to like it much better than Eco Soyas container wax. I haven't really found it to be a one pour because I always make the relief holes around the wicks. The one time I didn't do it I had a customer complain because of all the holes they found when they watched the candle burn. I didn't make the relief holes because I thought the wax was a true one pour. I'm beginning to think there may not be any true one pours. So just to be on the safe side I always double pour. I don't mind the little extra work because it brings repeat customers!
  20. www.thejarstore.com only offers one soy container wax. The others I believe are paraffin or paraffin based. I don't know anything about the paraffin waxes because I have never used them. Ideally I like to let me candles cure for 1 week. Then I test burn 1 from every batch. I read somewhere on here that someone said they couldn't test burn 1 from every batch because it just wasn't cost effective for them. The only reason it is cost effective for me is because I burn candles all the time. So I don't mind eating the cost of one per bacth because I go through them like crazy anyways.
  21. Try www.thejarstore.com. They too will send a 10 lb sample to you for I think it is like 10.00 plus shipping. I have been looking for a great soy wax for about 2 years now and this one is great. It is desgined to work with their jars and it does work well! I had the same problem from the Eco Soya. The only thing I use it for is tarts and votives. Also, I have been looking for great oils that offer a great hot and cold scent throw. I really haven't found any so I decided to make my own. I also use the eco wicks for my gel and my soy. I just love them! I just made a fresh linen type scent and I made a 9 oz. candle for a neighbor. I told her to let it cure for at least 24 hours before burning it. We just went over to her house and I asked her if she burned the candle and she said it has been burning all morning. Here I thought she sprayed air freshner. She has a tri-level house and her entire house smell like my candle. Just trial and error for 2 years lots of hours testing but it has finally paid off! Just had a wholesale blueberry pie order come in. BBL... Good luck in your endeavours!
  22. No I was thinking more along the lines of like the cutter that makes the wavy lines when you cut a loaf into pieces to sell. I will try the potato cutter to make some swirls. Thanks for the hint.
  23. Anyone know where I can get an inexpensive swirl soap cutter? I would like to try m&p soap but I don't want to spend a lot on a swirl cutter just yet.
