MrsM
Hi,I made this candle last week, 16oz apothecary jar, 464, 6% fo, eco 16.I just lit it and it tunneled straight down the wick. The tops were perfect, there was no sign of anything being wrong What did I do? Why did it do this? And why are my pics always on their side
MrsM
And can someone please tell me how do I fix the candle? Total melt n start again? Or scoop out? Many thanks
TallTayl
Looks like an Air pocket around the wick. The pic makes it look like there were a few, even showing a couple shadows of more. Many waxes need relief holes poked around the wick as it cools to remove them.Did the flame get relatively tall for a while as it was burning? Candybee
Notice how the wick burned down to the level of the wax. Another air pocket sign. Happens when the wick flares up.
ChandlerWicks
How hot was the wax temp when you poured it?
MrsM
Wax was poured at 80c dont know what that is in F? This has never happened to me before and the only thing I did different is placed them in a cupboard straight after I poured. But the other candle that went with this 1 is burning perfectly. So I guess its just a big boo boo candle and I'll start again. Thanks for your help
ChandlerWicks
176F Could be poured too hot & this one candle reacted by getting air pockets.
