Dolphin146
For those of you using 464 wax How long do you let it cure before test burning it.
Guest OldGlory
it's best to give it 2 weeks.
Dolphin146
WOW that long I hope I can wait that long LOL
Guest OldGlory
There are some fragrances that simply do not develop in the first few days or even first week. Some fragrances are gangbusters from the first day. I know that sounds hard to believe. It's a good practice to get your samples and get them in wax right away. This is also the time to adjust your wicking.Plan ahead!
Trappeur
I generally give my candles a weeks cure, though I have done more, but generally a week. Now I just tested the below fragrances in 3 days because I didn't want to wait as I was so anxious to see how my double wicking testing was going on some jars as I don't generally double wick. I was stunned when I lit the candles with the 2 wicks as they were soooooooooooo very strong/potent after 3 days that you could actually smell the fragrances from my driveway they were that fabulous. The fragrances that blew me away in that wax (464) were:1. I did a 50/50 blend of pumpkin souflee (Filmore) and pumpkin cheesecake (Natures G.)2. Also did birthday cake from R.Escentuals3. Sugared spruce (Candle Soylutions)4. Christmas Hearth (CS) (did this in 2 days)5. Sultry Angel (CC) These were total bombs! Dolphin146
WOW thanks for the info Trappeur Right now I am testing 2 oz tins with cotton wicks and the 464 I am using JS Oatmeal milk and honey. So far the cold throw is wonderful. I may wait a few days and test burn this one. I made two of them so If this one isn't strong enough then I will wait a week or more to try again. I just hate the waiting part LOL
Trappeur
Your welcome Dolphin,... That scent just might take longer. As Old Glory said, some take longer than others. Trappeur
jackbenimble
I generally wait a week before testing but like OldGlory said sometimes 2 weeks is even better before you do a first test.
GoldieMN
I've used 415 since that is what I started with and used for all testing. Any reason to switch to 464? Someone on RE FB page said it is the #1 selling soy.Goldie
sporadic
I love the 464 and it's all I've used for years when making containers. I let the candles cure for 7 days but have found that if they sit around time extra to that that they will sometimes get even stronger. I have had scents that I didn't think would throw well, so I just shoved the candles in the box - light them 6 weeks later in the bathroom and SURPRISE! But kidding aside, if the FO is going to work good in the wax, it will throw within 7-14 days, sometimes sooner.
Marion
I wait 3 to 4 days for the first test burn, like right now, I'm burning Santa's whiskers, warm vanilla nutmeg and salsa cranberry from RE and it is amazing, cold and hot throw. But I had candles not giving me a HT at all, like Essence of Jesus from RE and I was bummed, because the CT is so nice. After 2 weeks, I gave it another try and turned out to be a great HT.I'm curing a patchouli saffron+patchouli EO candle and for that I'm waiting patiently a few more days. afewthingz
Usually 5-7 days.
daisy_mae
I wait 2 weeks. But I've lit some after 2 months or more of curing and WOW they're strong. I don't know at what point any extra curing becomes pointless, but it generally feels like the longer the wait, the better the throw. for me at least.

RWV
I have been testing the 464 recently in a parasoy blend--waited 3 days to start test burning. I had something odd happen & maybe someone can jump in here & explain it for me. I test burned an orange/cranberry scent after 3 days of curing (one of my regular scents) & got the dreaded fuel/butane smell, which I don't usually have with this fo. Waited 4 more days & re-burned & no fuel smell--why is that? Plan to burn it again in a day or two just to see what I get.
