  1. What I normally do is make up the candles all unwicked, then put a hole in wax and drop a wick in for testing if I can see that that wick is not performing right I take out the wick with a pair of Pliers .

    Wax chunks

Thanks Tracey . I will order some crisco off amazon I have coconut oil here already so I might do a blend of paraffin container/pb and coconut oil . How much coconut oil should I start with? When I added in Vaseline I only added in 1%?
  3. I think 2nd or 3rd burn is fine , as long as the ht is there. However I recently had a candle that someone made that got a fm in the first burn and it burned perfectly from top to bottom without the jar getting too hot. I don't know how they achieved that as normally if I get fm first burn then the wick is too big halfway down.
  4. If you want to start with the htp I would start at the larger end of the scale for a 3 inch jar. Have you managed to get any other jars wicked in the c3 yet? I am not having much luck with straight sided jars , I am finding that I don't get much ht until the candle has burned halfway down yet in a shouldered jar I seem to get ht pretty much straight away. I am also using 8% fragrance.

    Wax chunks

Thanks Tracey for info I wonder if I should do parraffin container , pb and crisco? Would coconut oil make it harder or softer ? Keep us updated on throw.

    Wax chunks

I was thinking a mix of 4627? They say that's very soft and sticky? I can't get that here so that's why I was thinking crisco but I don't know if crisco would make it softer?
  7. Oh forgot to ask are your jars shouldered or straight sided? I have found that the shouldered jars seem to have better ht for me , I think that the shoulders seem to help keep in the heat and help heat the wax up therefore giving better ht but that's just my opinion
  8. Hi, Well Im still testing between the excel and c3. C3 has better ct than excel but excel seems easier to wick to me. I have also got premiers on order , I have tried the htp but I didn't really like them. I prefer the cd/cdn wicks . The premier is my last wick to test and if this doesn't work I will go back to testing the cd wicks. What % fragrance are you using? I can not give you a wick rec as I have not tried the 3 inch jars. Let me know how you like the premier wicks.

    Wax chunks

Hi Tracey Thanks for reply. I think when I add the pb in it makes it too hard . The first blend had pb in and it was hard and flakey when I cut it even though I had more container wax in the blend . Have you ever heard of rose girls ? The people here go absolutely mad for them , they buy in huge quantities and have it shipped over . The rose girl chunks are soft and easily sliced , they don't flake. No one here seems bothered that they don't come out of the burners so I'm not worried about trying to make mine come out. I'm just not sure what I can add in to make the wax more softer?

    Wax chunks

Morning everyone, I have seen over here that the wax chunks/loaves are becoming very popular. I have tried to have a go at making some but my wax is not coming out soft. I can slice through it but I get flaking or crumbling. I have tried so far: 70% container paraffin 30% eco soy pillar blend and a small bit of vaseline 60 % container paraffin 40% c3 and a tiny biy of vaseline The last one came out better but when I slice it still flakes. I can not get igi waxes here, my paraffin is sasol wax, it is not hard like the 4786 you can slice through it with a sharp knife but it does not have a sticky feel to it. The soy waxes I can get are the ecosoy and the c3 wax. I might be able to get crisco , its not available in the shops but looks like I could get off amazon oh and I have coconut oil and coconut wax. So any ideas on what I could blend ? Thanks
  11. Hi, I have just got in js pumpkin pecan waffles , I haven't had a chance to put in wax yet. This stuff is so good. , I could drink it out the bottle it smells so nice and strong
  12. Hi, You won't find a supplier in the uk for cd or cdn wicks, I have to order mine from the US . I am just back with testing the c3. What jars and sizes are you trying to wick?
  13. I have used a cd5 and 6 in mine , it's not the same wax as yours though it is the ecosoy excel. I will let you know how they burn.
  14. Tracey and they arrived with no extra charges

  20. Tracey I love that That looks really nice. Ok so Butterfly Cove it is, thank you everyone for your replies. Tracey how did you do that with the label?
  21. Thank you so much for the replies. I do like miss mariposa but I still can't get the barbie image out of my mind lol, I'm surrounded by the dolls and barbie films. My surname is cove and I was thinking butterfly cove but it still doesn't leap out at me, I'm rubbish at this type of stuff .
  22. Thanks Tracey thats something I had not thought of.
  23. Thank you very much for replying. I have already looked in a thesaurus and unfortunately the other names that come up are bug , vermin, mite, insect ect not very appealing for a business name lol I also looked into butterfly in different languages and mari Posa came up which I quite liked but my daughter is 7 and loves barbie and there is a barbie doll called Mari Posa and every time I think of that name I think of barbie dolls! Lol
