  1. I make grubby electric's, I don't use the rings. I would think that they would be useless, as the are usually used with a regular light bulb. A grubby you uses a 3watt bulb which wouldn't even get the ring hot enough to release any of the frgrance. Just my opinion. Pam F
  2. Although this idea seems very appealing, I don't think that I will try it. My cat may decide that would be the mouse that she would kill, and eat. I guess I will just set out a zillion traps when I go away for a few days, next week and clean up the remains upon my return. I thought we had the mice under control as we caught so many that we lost count, then the poop starting showing up again. Thanks for everybodies suggestions, I will give most of them a try and see what happens. Thank you Pam F
  3. Beautiful candles, just looking at them makes me think of clouds in the blue sky. I can just picture angels sitting on the clouds. Pam F
  4. Anybody else have a problem with mice in their work areas. We have a terrible time in our house with mice, thought that we had it under control. But the last couple of days I have noticed a lot of mouse droppings on my workbench(gross). Tonight I was down there again and happened to notice a votive that I had out was half eaten by the mice, I guess they are hungry, and can't get at the dog food anymore. They really like the taste of Grandma's Kitchen. Any body have any suggestions of a candle fragrance that might drive them away, I'm willing to try anything. I have a cat but she's not a big help in controlling the mouse population. Thanks Pam F
  5. What I do when making tealights is use a small amount of silicone on the botton of the wick and then center in the tealight cup. Let it dry and then when you pour your tealight give it a little tug to straightened the wick as the wax hardens. Hope this helps Pam F
  6. Thank you for the information, I guess my brain just wasn't working when I was looking for the information on their website. Spent the weekend at a very slow craft show, makes the brain go to mush. Pam
  7. Now that my craft show season is over, I am going to try to make some soy container candles, using CB-135. My question is what is the fragrance load with the soy container wax. Because I currently use paraffin wax. Except for some palm pillars that I have made. I tried using the search engine but couldn't find my answer. Thanks in advance Pam F
  8. I have an electric grubby mold from flexible molds, when I received it last year, it didn't have a slit. The words that came from my mouth were far from pleasant. Until I e-mailed them and they suggested that I should slit it. That made my life a lot easier. I have just been making some more electric grubbies for a craft show next weekend. My mold has tore some but it has made my life even easier, because I am able to turn the mold completely inside out now and within seconds my grubby is out. Just be patient with it and it gets easier each time you use it. Pam F
  9. I use Good Lookin Cowboy, and it has a strong leather scent with a hint of musk. At the craft shows that I have done so far this season it has been a great attention getter, everybody has wanted to know what a good lookin cowboy looks like. Most people that have bought it from me are horse back riders. It has a very good hot and cold throw. You can smell almost every where in the room that it is in even when it not lit. Pam
  10. Apple Pan Dowdy has a wonderful fragrance, makes a person hungry when they smell it, has a great scent throw in votives and pillars. Pam
  11. Thanks for everybody suggestions, I had bagged them up last night, and even after sitting in the bags for a short period of time the scent had improved. The scent today was even better today. The person that bought the bears was very satisfied with them, so that was the important thing. The bears were for Christmas presents so they should be even better by then. Thank you Pam
  12. I made some wax dipped bears on the weekend, and the fragrance that I used turned out to be very weak (Cinnamon Spice). My question is has anybody tried re-dipping the bears again, and have the results been sucessful. I guess the only thing that I have to lose is the cost of fragrance oil and the wax, but has we all know that is expensive. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and try it. The frustration part this was an order for some co-workers of mine, and I said that I would bring to work on Tuesday. My other thought was take them to work explain that I don't think the scent is strong enough and get their opinion. Thanks for reading my thread, just trying to vent my frustrations. Thank you Pam:undecided
  13. Another thing that it is helpful with, is help prevent the bleeding of candles. I noticed a big difference with the bleeding when I started using it in my 1274 wax, very little to no bleeding with the colour. Pam
  14. The type of wax that is recommeded for electric candles are a pillar or hurricane blend, because of the warmth from the bulb could melt the wax. Sorry I didn't answer your question completely, because I don't know what type of wax 1275 is. Hope this is some help Pam
  15. I have Daystar's Blackberry Jam Butter Cookies scent, and want to pour it tonight, but I'm not sure what colour to do it in. My first thought was a cookie colour, but was also thinking how to incorporate, the blackberry jam part of the cookie. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm going to be pouring pillars and votives. Thank you Pam
  16. I use to rust coloured dye chips when I do my gingerbread. To me it gave the perfect colour. Gingerbread was my top seller last year at craft shows. Pam
  17. I have 3 presto type pots, and use everyone of them. Because I'm Canadian, and Presto pots aren't available here, I got each of my pots a the thrift store in total for my 3 pots I have 25.00 invested. I just gave them a very good cleaning when I got them home and they work perfectly, actually one of the pots was brand new. So it may be worth checking out a used store first, if your not sure of buying a new Presto pot. Pam F
  18. I did some Twigs and Berries in rustic pillars, and did them in a combination of burgundy and brown. I liked this combination it represented the two names in the scent. Pam
  19. When doing labels for your candles, do you place hand poured or handcrafted anywhere on your labels. I was thinking of adding this to my label to let people know that I made the candles, and not just purchasing and trying to re-sell. There are so many people out there who would think this at craft shows, and unless it is there in plan site they just assume you didn't make them, because there seem to be so many things at craft shows that are resell items, not handcrafted. Thanks in advance for any opinions. Thank you Pam F
  20. I don't have a solution for your problem, but last night I was trying to print labels for some tart clamshells that I had made for my sister-in-law for her birthday. I wasted a whole bunch of labels almost for the same reasons you stated. I finally gave up after and lot screaming and not so pleasant words. I couldn't figure out what my problem is, I would print a test label on the template that was with the labels it would print perfectly each time, but when I went to print the label it was just a mess, wouldn't center on the label.I was blaming the printer, but can't seem to solve the problem. Hope somebody has a solution to your problem. Pam
  21. I am in the process of testing container candles. I have been using 4786, but thought that I would try 4630 as it a one pour wax. The difference that I find between the two is the cold throw, haven't tried hot throw yet. The 4630 has very little cold throw compared to the other wax. I didn't know if it was just my nose, or if anybody else has noticed the difference between the two. The reason that I am so interested in the 4630 is because there is a 12.00 per case difference in price. I should also add that I added scent to both at 180 and poured at 150-155. TIA Pamela
  22. I am going to be hosting a baby shower for my cousin who just had a baby boy, and want to make candles for shower favours. I stuck on scent that would be appropiate. I don't want to use baby powder scent. The candles will be coloured a baby blue. Any help is greatly appreciated. Pamela
  23. I pay 86.00 for 60lbs of 4786 and 76.00 for 60lbs of 1274, I don't know the cost to ship wax, because I pick it up when I visit my sister. So I don't have to deal with the shipping cost and it doesn't cost me extra for gas to pick it up because my supplier is only about 5 minutes off the main highway. In response to Draggy's question: The two supplies that I know of in Ontario are Canwax www.canwax.com which is located in Mississauga, and Village Craft and Candle www.villagecraftandcandle.com which is located in St.Mary's. I have dealt with both of these business and they both have excellent customer service. Hope this helps Pam
  24. I am presently testing Metro jars, and I am double wicking them. I am using 4786 and testing with HTP 73 wicks, I am getting an excellent melt pool and scent throw with this combination with Country Berry and Grandma's Kitchen. I should get to my question when double wicking jars what is the distance placed between the 2 wicks? I have my place about 1" apart but looking at pictures of other double wicked jars, the distance looks closer. I know that pictures can be deceiving. Thank you for any information that is provided. Pam
  25. I really like your Autism hurricane because it has a special meaning to me. My 4 year old nephew was diagnosised as being Autistic last year. Pam
