  1. Thanks guys. I always appreciate all the feedback I can get from everyone!
  2. These are pics of our new Patriot Candles. We live close to military post. The scent is Apple Cinnamon. Let me know what you think.
  3. Be sure and make up an "invitation sheet" for your hostess to fill out. It should have a column for guests name, address, phone number and email address. Now you will have all the information that you need to contact your guests for the party. You can also use this for a future contact list that will build your customer base.
  4. A suggestion on parties if on line or in home. Get the guests phone numbers and call them yourself and remind them of the party. This way you know the reminder calls have been done, you have made a personal contact with the guests which creates repoir and you can answer questions. I used to do lots of parties before I started my own business. Making my own reminder calls increased my business by as much as 40% and allowed me to book more parties.
  5. Great! Let me know what kind of input you need and I would love to help. With all the talent on this forum, we could make a fantastic brochure that would benifit us all.
  6. I have a brochure on safety and how to burn a candle that I hand out with each sale I make. Eric your idea is even better. If you get that brochure together would you be willing to share?
  7. I have looked into these shows, but due to the cost, decided not to do it. If you don't sell a ton of candles, you will not even break even. There is a possiblity that you might make some contacts, but there is no guarentee. Figure out how many candles that you would need to sell to break even and then decide.
  8. Last night I burned one of my candles and when I walked into the room, it was a very strong hot throw that almost knocked me out of my shoes. This morning I relit the candle in the same place, same room and found that the hot throw was much less - perjaps half as strong. My question is - - can room tempature and humidity affect the hot throw of a candle? Appreciate any feedback.
  9. I also have a large show doing up in the Fall (40,000 for a one day show) and have been concerned about amount of stock to take. I am not going by th 10% idea. I am going to figure how much I am comfortable in making at the show and make enough candles to fill that amount. I would much rather sell out than try to make 4000 candle and have a ton of candles left over. This is the first time I have been at this show so I do not have any history to go by.
  10. I have made a point of keeping my scents down to 10 different ones on my web page. Too many scents seem to confuse my customers. I will add new ones to my shows just to test their appeal. Keeping the number of scents down helps me buy fewer fo's in larger bottles and I save that way.
  11. Does anyone know where I can get a blank air freshened in the shape of a ladies high heeled shoe? I've looked, but can't find a supplier. Thank you!
  12. Welcome - This is a great place to learn! There is a lot of knowledge here. Enjoy!!
  13. I have not yet got a wholesale account, but plan to start making calls next month. My plan is to to give a free candle to the store with their first order so that they can burn it in store. This will help them get the line moving. After that, they can pull from their wholesale stock to burn in store. If I figure that I am only loosing one candle at my cost, the loss is minimal and will help promote my sales and the stores sales
  14. Oops it is www.whisperinggarden.com - appreciate feed back on web page.
  15. My husband and I love the jars. (Scott does the pouring and I take care of everything else). We tend to slightly under wick for our palm containers. We like the hang on to stay as long as possible so that the beauty of the palm wax stays for a while. They wax burns completely and leaves clean glass at the end. We use a CSN 11. I have been working on our web page and it is finally up and running. Take a look if you would like. www.whispering garden.com
  16. Attached are two pictures - one is my 12 oz Palm Wax candle and the other is my display in local antique mall. This is my first mall to be in and I am scheduled to start in another next month. I'm real excited. (By the way, thanks for the help in getting these pictures in the forum - I resized them and it worked!)
  17. Thanks for trying to upload my pics. At least now I know it is not just me! Can one of the monitors check on this problem?
  18. Has anyone had one of these melt in a hot car? I noticed on the instructions from one of the suppliers that there was a caution about using them in a hot car. Just curious.
  19. Pixie - I would suggest getting someone to help you. Get someone who understands that you may have some problems. My husband goes with me to shows and does ok for a while and then he disappears to the car for awhile to get away from the people. You may find that having someone with you will make it easier over a period of time. You seem very excited about making this work. Don't give up your dream - - - see if someone will join you. A lot of people just enjoy working a show or you can figure a percent that you can pay them. The more they sell - the more you will both make.
  20. Thank you Georgia but it just will not upload. I get no box to check. I've tried it on two different computers. Just not sure what I am doing wrong. I bongo manage attachments, browse for the pic I want, hit upload and get nothing.
  21. Ok - the pics did not show up. I'm doing something wrong.
