  1. Would it happen to be the wick Im using? If a 22 is too small and a 24 is too big, there is nothing in between for the LX series. Maybe I could try a different type of wick that wont burn so hot? I dont know, just throwing ideas out there.

I've tried all types of wicks, all types of sizes, and variations on additives, and I did not succeed in eliminating the bulge in the 1274 and 1343. The only thing I found that did help somewhat, was to not burn the candle for very long. Sometimes I only got a 2 1/2 hour burn out of a 3" candle. That did cause the candle to tunnel and leave somewhat of a shell. You can try and use a smaller wick, but you're likely to get some tunnelling. I think it comes down to choosing the lesser of two evils - tunnelling or bulging.

  2. Oh, the dreaded bulge..... Do a search for bulging and you will see that many of us have tried to find a perfect formula to eliminate that problem. Unfortunately 1274 and 1343 are somewhat prone to bulging. Some have claimed to have solved the problem, and others have just quit using that wax and moved onto something else. At risk of sounding like a broken record, I have found that 4045H is the best wax for mottles.

You can try adding some translucent crystals, or other types of hardeners, but I can tell you from my experience, and 100's of dollars later, I did not get it to burn adequately, and not bulge.

I'm sure others will chime in with their experiences, then you can decide for yourself what type of burn you find acceptable, or not.

  3. I am only trying to understand why you guys don't call the company and try to work out your negative feelings instead of trying to put the company out of business. .....

Again, if you read the entire thread, you will notice that Top did communicate with the company to try and resolve the issue.

No-one here is trying to put a company out of business, they can do that all by themselves by not offering their customers - who are their business in the first place - good service! This is not the first, and only time, that this company has not treated their customers well, and hence the many replies.

  4. Personally, I'm not very fond of 1343 wax. Have not had much success in getting it to burn without bulging, but I have made some of my best rustics with it. However, Top recommeded the 4045H wax, which is a Candlewic blend, and it is proving to be the best all round wax for me. I use it for both mottles, and rustics. You should give it a try.

The best thing I can do to help is to tell you what I did with the 1343. This is per pound of wax: 2tbs stearic, 1/2tsp vybar, 1oz FO and dye chips. I poured at 145 into a room temperature (72 degree) mold, and I pour quickly! I have found that in order to keep some of the frosting on the candle, and not in the mold, ensure that your candle is adequately cooled. I always wait overnight before unmolding (is that a word????LOL)

Good luck - let me know how you get along.....

  5. What a bunch of bull! I can't believe they want $75 claiming they can't

re-use the cartons. (???) The last shipment I got from them - the box was stamped on the side "Live Plants - This side up". It for sure made me take a second look.

    - obviously they recycle but it is completely wrong to try to charge you above and beyond top dollar for something they most likely got second hand to begin with. I won't be ordering from them anymore either. I hope they resolve this for you quickly - what a pain!

Same thing for me. I ordered some stuff from them and got my stuff in an office supplies box?!?!?!? I definitely won't use them again........

  6. This is a pillar made with with White tea and ginger form peak.

In both pillars I used a 3% FO.

But WT&G cold throw is amazing!

    ;)

That FO is amazing! You can smell it a mile away!!!! I gave some votives to a friend and she said that she doesn't even have to light them to have her entire house smell good.....

  7. I love the look also. I have that mold and it is a bugger to get out. I only used the mold twice because of it, I didn't know it would get easier...lol. I LOVE your candle !!!!:yay:

What I have found with the fluted molds is that you have to make sure your candle has cooled down completely before you try and remove it. Should you try when it has not, it can be very difficult to unmold. I usually wait overnight.....
