Very nice - well done :highfive:

I tend to do the same thing as you when I test. Once I've got the initial wicking right (1 hour for every inch....) I like to give my candles the power burn test. I pretty much light the sucker up, and leave it burning so that I can observe what happens. You are correct - there are some people that will do that, and you have to make sure of what your candle will do in that situation.....
I'm one of those people that likes to have candles burning continuously. Very often I will light a candle at 10:00am in the morning, and not extinguish it permanently until I go to bed at night, around 10:00pm! I will trim the wick during the day, but for the most part, it stays lit. Now, I have not had a lot of success getting mottles to do that - they start to bulge out after a few hours. Rustics on the other hand, have shown great promise.........

I mix navy blue with my black chips, and get a pretty good black!
-
So far so good...... Keep it going!

They are looking pretty good. You really cannot judge on one or two pillar burns. You need to keep it going........
e
I have to second that..... I have tested countless candles that seemed to burn perfectly for the first 5 or so burns, and I've been almost at the point of whooping around the house in excitement, only to have the next few burns turn to crap!
My advice would be to burn those suckers until you only have an inch left of them. If they burn good up until that point, you're set....... Remember too that you have to test all your FO's the same way, as they can make a huge difference to the burn. Ask me how I know.........

Sally, I'm not sure I understand what the difference would be between a ball mold and an earth shaped mold???

Hmmm, Penis candles.
Oh, I have to try that.... Do they come in different sizes?!?!?

I have had several requests for fart scented candles.
Has my husband been bothering you?!?!?!?

Henryk, I'm going to just add my .2c worth here too......
I never use mold release for rustics, and I'm 100% in agreement with Eugenia, you have to do some "swooshing." Make it as messy a job as you can. Slop some wax in there, and swill it around a little, then pour some more. Repeat with layers........
As far as the jump lines - in some candles I really like the look. That one of yours looks great!

If your candles are glowing when you take them out of the mold you might want to use less uranium.
Mmmmmm.... Will uranium help prevent the bulge?????

Thank you so much - but those labels - I don't know. I think they kind of make the candles look cheap. I suppose 'cause I made them I want to present the best image, and those labels just bother me. I'm going to come up with some other ideas and see if she will go for them.
I love the colours. Where do you find pastel dye? They are so relaxing just to look at. What kind of wax do you use? Beautiful......I don't have a pastel dye, I just use the chopstick method. I run the stir/chopstick along the dye dropper, that way just a small amount of dye is introduced into the wax. Makes for very light pastel colors, and of course there is vybar in the wax (4045H) which makes it opaque, and thus mutes the colors somewhat.

Made these at the request of a friend.....
She wanted spa type candles in pastel colors to give to another friend as a gift. I'm not too crazy about the labels, but that is what she wanted, and she's happy, so that's all that counts!
Blue is scented Rainwater
Pink is scented Satin Sheets
Green is scented Foliage
Ivory is scented Indonesian Teak

Very, very nice!!! I love the colors, the scents, and I especially like a fluted rustic. Definitely my fav......

What is it that you want? Do you want a rustic candle, or do you want a smooth candle????
-
That does sound cool - my daughter would love it!!!!
-
I love that color.... Very nice!
-
Very nice - what you using to wick that baby??
-
I've used as much as 4.5% and still mottled. Poured at 175. If I pour hotter, I seem to lose some mottle - weird huh?!?!?

There is nothing wrong with Dinita making money. I just wonder how many of you will really cough up the money. 1%, maybe?
I'm pretty sure her techniques can be found free on about.com.
Maybe - but they sure as hell won't have a Donita, and she makes it half the fun!!!
Wick pins and securing in wick afterwards?

I do the above, but without the tab. I just leave about 1/2 inch of wick sticking out the bottom of the candle, then when I level, the wax gets sucked up the hole, and seals off the bottom.
