  1. These are my first attempts at making these and I think they turned out pretty good. I used the basic bath bomb recipe for the 'cake' part and then tweaked the frosting recipe from Brambleberry. I used fragrance oil from Elements for both cupcakes. Raspberry Guava (orange) and Apple Martini (green)
  2. I use Ecosoya pillar blend wax for my cupcakes, for both the cake and the icing. I wait until the wax in the pot is like mashed potatoes before I put it on the cupcake. The FO and the dye will add some liquid to the wax so the more solid the wax is, the better or it's going to be very runny and not make a good icing. I put the wax in a pouring pot and use a whisk to whip it. I add the FO and the dye and whip it till all the lumps are out of it and the dye is blended. I wait till the cupcake part is set and cooled before adding the icing. Once I have the icing on, I add sprinkles. I haven't tried using another wax for these, the pillar wax is working very well for me.
  3. That was my concern too. But I measured the pan and the width is about 3 1/2", and the ECO 10 wicks I used are good for 3" wide, so hopefully when I burn them, it won't flood over the sides. I may have to adjust the wicks after the test burn.
  4. My first and second attempt at making loaf candles in aluminum loaf pans. I used 464 container wax, 2 ECO10 wicks, and FOs from AH/RE. Angel Food Cake scent Peppermint Swizzle Stick scent
  5. I probably have close to 100 scents with candle & B&B scents combined. Right now I have them all listed on a page with a picture and a short description of the scent. I don't really want to list all 70 scents for the candles/tarts in a drop down menu so I was curious as to what others may do. I like having a scent page with a picture and description, it gives the customer a little more info about a scent and some of them I use aren't descriptive in their name, so a short description helps. I wish the technology would allow a sniff screen, it would make things a whole lot easier!
  6. Do you have a scent page on your website? A list of all the fragrances you carry whether they be for candles or B&B or wickless products. Would it be easier for customers if I separate these scents into categories or at least into sections of candle scents and B&B scents? What have you found that works the best? TIA
  7. I wish I had the space you guys have. I'm working out of my kitchen which isn't very big and even less counter space. My kitchen table is used for making candles, soaps, and anything else. I'll have to take pictures tomorrow of my disaster area.
  8. Yeah I was thinking the same thing about a curled wick. I'd have to put on a bright red label on it reminding the customer to cut the wick to 1/4" before lighting it. And even then I'm sure there will be those who "can't read directions" ... and we all know there are customers like that.
  9. I've been using Caramel Apples from Miami Erie, but I recently got a 1oz bottle of Kickin' Caramel from Rustic Escentuals, which is yummy, I just might have to mix it with their Apple Harvest and give it a test run.
  10. Thanks ladies for the help! Another question: Would container wax or pillar wax work better for these?
  11. I got these tiny aluminum loaf pans that I'd like to make grubby candles out of. My question is what is the proper way to measure these for wicks. Length wise? or Width? And another question how do you curl the wick? Is there a trick to that? TIA
  12. I ordered Butternut Pumpkin, Apple & Pumpkin Strudel, Pumpkin Spice Roll and the Sweet Pumpkin. I haven't tested the tarts I made with these, yet. But OOB, I'm leaning towards the Butternut Pumpkin or the Sweet Pumpkin. I also like the Oak Barrel Cider and the Frosted Winter Berry. I just placed another order for FOs from her, I got new glass containers tonight and I want to pour this weekend. She's really quick on shipping too, which is great!
  13. I've been testing Fall scents from Rustic Escentuals. I am head over heels for their Bonfire Bliss! So far the scents I've tart tested have excellent throw and I'm excited to try them all in my 8oz masons. Autumn Magic and Acorn Harvest from NG are nice Fall scents that I'll be using this season. I'm still unsure about a pumpkin and an apple scent. I can't seem to find the one that I like and that throws well too, and I'll keep testing.
  14. I think RE's dazzle dust is crushed glass but RE's shimmer dust is okay to use for cosmetics, soaps or candles.
  15. I'm there every week, sometimes I don't post pictures but it's fun to see all the creations!
  16. Thanks! I want to try some for my short pillars. With the holidays coming up, I think a little sparkle will add a nice touch! Do you use the mod podge on the candle then roll it in the glitter or is the mod podge not needed?
  17. This dust looks to be a fun project for holiday candles! Karen M: Do you use the shimmer dust from RE?
  18. I use the Ecosoya PB wax and my tarts will scent for days. It's a really nice soy wax to work with.
  19. I have a cardboard freshener hanging in my car and it lasted about 2 months before the smell was gone. Of course the color faded but the scent was strong for a good 60 days.
  20. Yes me too! I am on the hunt for some really good Fall scents, so I'm testing quite a few pumpkin, cider, and autumn scents and I'm testing with a new wax. I love the Fall season too! So many great scents to pick from, I want to try them all!
  21. I would think the scent would last a long time. It's the fibers that fill the bear that are absorbing the FO. I don't fill the bear with that much FO that it would leak. I inject both arms, both legs, the head and the belly area. I use more FO in the head and in the belly area, both areas have more fiber filling than the arms and legs.
  22. I sometimes use dye, but with tins and tarts, not jar candles. I like the natural look of dye free jar candles. It's personal preference.
  23. Yes the cookie cutter is your mold. I use wax paper and then spray it with a cooking spray so the ornaments don't stick, then lay it on a cookie sheet. I use a screw to make the hole and place it upside down, so the head of the screw lays flat on the wax paper. I fill the cutters with the colored and scented beads and put them in the oven for about 20 minutes. You'll have to play around with the temp/time for your oven.
  24. I don't do the dipped bears, I do the injected bears and I had a pretty nice response to them at a craft show this past weekend. I inject about an ounce of FO into an 8" bear. They're less messy to make, package and handle then the dipped bears. I don't dress the bears up like some do, I package them in cello bags and tie it shut with colored tulle. I usually add some colored shred in the bottom of the bag that the bear sits on.
