  1. Beautiful candles and love love love the crystals!! :smiley2: One technical thing, the gift basket and contact us buttons were dead links. HTH
  2. Because I start off with a straight paraffin and add my own additives I generally can "feel" if something is amuck when I pull the first candle out of the mold. If its sweating FO or not grabbing color then I start questioning if the wax is a different make up from the supplier. But I can generally fix the issue just by adjusting my additives.
  3. Walnut Sticky Buns? oye, that sounds awful doesn't it? That may be worse that Cinnamon Bread Pudding but it's all I could think of....lol
  4. Very nice! Love the way you displayed them with the basket as well :smiley2:
  5. Excellent! I'm not alone in my love for the paraffin I still haven't found the combination I'm most happy with.....but I'm getting closer.
  6. I love how over seas outsourced candles always say "hand poured" ...but they don't say "where" in the advertisement.
  7. 1.Paraffin and Gel 2. 16oz 3.Candles but am getting ready to offer tarts 4.Central ohio 5. In the process of a complete overhaul
  8. In my experience with soy in silicone molds like that I would mix with some paraffin so you have a bit of shrinkage and you can get the wax back out of the mold. I tried soy in a silicone pumpkin embed mold once.......once :laugh2:Child birth was easier than getting those little pumpkins out of there!
  9. Thank you for the warm welcome! Well, when I started out I went right to gels. All was MP and instead of filling with wax embeds I suspended them halfway up the jar so everything looked like it was floating. I also like to do slant pillars, cut outs etc. I use paraffin that I customize with additives depending on what I'm doing. I've used eco-soya and love the scent throw but prefer to use paraffin because of the artistic elasticity it provides. I'm currently in a rut so to speak because I want to completely overhaul my line. I've wiped my website clean and am trying to think of how I want to proceed. Now that I have a wee one around I'm considering going wickless. I don't know.....just in a transition phase at the moment :rolleyes2
  10. I second that! Nearly a decade in and I still slam my face into the wax slabs out of frustration
  11. I've never had much luck either unless it was soy, but for the types of candles I enjoy making I need the versatility of paraffin. Guess I still keep playing around with different combos
  12. Haven't tried C&S Vanilla Pods (but now think I will ) but do have their Vanilla Bean, and I really like it. It's light and not nearly as heavy as the Buttery Vanilla. I once did a 3 case wholesale order of Buttery Vanilla. I couldn't bake for 6 months after that!
  13. I also totally agree on the powerburn test. Even on my pillars I'll start one in the morning and watch it alllll day to see what it will do. But yeah, on my containers I prefer to have a meltpool that goes all the way across within a few hours and about 1/4+ deep depending on the container (8oz jelly jar seems to run a wee bit deeper than 1/4 than a wider jar but not much with my wick of choice) If after a 5 hour burn my pool is too deep than I wick down. HTH
  14. After several years of buying pre blended waxes I started buying straight parrafin and been experimenting with different amounts of stearic and vybar to see what I get. Does anyone else do this or should I stop playing mad scientist and go back to pre blended?
  15. Thanks again! I'm a little overwhelmed right now as to how much things have changed in just a year and a half in the industry since I stopped selling. Especially the cost of gel...WOW!!! Gels used to be my bread and butter and now I don't think I'll carry any at all. Heck, I might even go wickless at this point. LOL
  16. That is so neat! I wonder how, chemically/scientifically that's possible. Oxygen and micro particles from the wick/wax? Either way, that's really cool!
  17. Good morning! I'm new here but wanted to take the time to say hi. I've been a chandler for about 8 1/2 years for both profit and fun but took some time off to have a baby :smiley2: Looking forward to getting to know everyone and talk shop. Have a great day!
