  1. I don't make soaps, but I think those are really cute and I bet they smell yummy!! Kudos! :smiley2:
  2. I love the color! How did you do the crackle? I've never seen that before
  3. I leave it as a whole. I only break down individual costs (as in units per candle) when figuring my costs for each particular product. And yes, I enter everything in from my vendor's including shipping. I have never used the standard version so I hope I'm not confusing you but the basics should still be the same. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. Just remember that every transaction of money, whether paid or received should be entered into your program. Before to long you'll be whizzing through your entries like a pro :smiley2:
  4. Oh this sounds AMAZING!! May please have one too?? Thank you soooo much! cowgirlup1975@gmail.com
  5. Are you using just quickbooks or Quickbooks Pro? I use Pro and when listing items I sell I set it up at the price I sell it for. Each fragrance, style, and size gets its own item. As far as vendors. Each invoice I enter in itemized. So say like something you order often such as wax, you intitially set up then farther on down the line you just start typing the first few letters and the wax pops up and you just need to plug in how many units purchased. I'm not sure how much different the Pro version is so if you're not using it I hope this helped :smiley2:

  7. That is way to clever and adorable! Love it!
  8. :laugh2:My ex had to do the same thing! Then he asked if I could make a dirt smelling candle. Once I was banished to my own workshop he bought into a skull cleaning business and the maceration tank was about 30 yards from my building. Now THERE'S a permeating scent! Everytime he would come in after being in the bug building (we raised flesh eating dermestid beetles...yeah, gross!) he reaked of rotting flesh. If I complained he pointed out he would rather smell like that than a cookie.
  9. I've had a workshop and poured candles in the house and yes, some fragrances will cling to my hair or clothes. But never with negative effects such as an illness/reaction etc. Today I was pouring a tester and fed my 3 month old son afterward. When my 16 y/o daughter came home and snuggled him she said "mmmmmm, you smell like a glazed donut!" :laugh2: apparently it also clung to his sleeper
  10. A quick way to find your liquid yield is line up a bunch of 2oz votive molds. Melt down a lb of the wax you're using and pour into the molds. If you get 10 blank (meaning no wicks...lol) votives you have 20 liquid ounces. 9 1/2 = 19oz , 9 = 18 oz and so on. HTH
  11. I have Candles and Supplies Blackberry also. I only used it in gel but was a nice Blackberry almost "jammy" smell
  12. Plain old school Black Cherry I just never get tired of it :smiley2:
  13. hey congrats!! Feels awesome doesn't it?
  14. I am so glad I found this thread!! My 3 1/2 mo son was diagnosed with contact dermatitis (He's allergic to Dreft AND baby wash/lotion....sigh). Buttt, eczema runs in my family so while the worse of the allergic reaction is over he is still somewhat rashy. I have never had a problem with dry skin until I had him and now I'm miserably itchy. I am totally going to buy that cream! I'm also using Aveeno Sensitive Skin baby wash every 3 days or so with water sponge baths between then slathering both of us with colloidal oatmeal baby lotion and so far so good. Whew! I was afraid I had done something wrong to make my little guy so miserable. And on a side note...I have found large amounts of black mold recently in my closet downstairs. I thankfully am moving to an apartment in about a month because I'm getting a divorce so the ex can deal with it but I'm wondering if it could be effecting our skin too?
  15. Those are gorgeous!! Really love the rich color!
  16. I've been using wick pins for years, relief holes often and a high collared wick tab. I do a lot of slanted and specialty pillars and found wicking the mold lead to alot of frustration and occasional binge drinking I agree totally with Gbhunter, whether that's considered poor quality or not, they sell. In the end, while we all may be in the same industry, we all have our own distinct style and preferences.
  17. I've used Hobby Lobby wax when in a pinch BUT have to add a hefty amount of additives to get it to hold FO and burn nicely. I have never used their fragrance oils so can't really comment on that.
  18. You go girl! Grab the bull by the horns!
  19. Thanks for the welcome and congrats! It's been 16 years since I had a little one and wow....am I getting a refresher course! lol I will post some pics of my work once I get all my samples tested and such. Thanks again!
  20. I had a wholesale customer similar to this. I did centerpieces in beer mugs for two sports bars. Anyway, shipping alone because of the weight of the mugs was in the hundreds. I did a 30day invoice for them and after about their third order 30 turned into 60....then 90 All during that time I was eating the cost of shipping let alone the cost of materials and my time. I finally enforced a 50% down at the time of ordering and they jumped ship But in the end.....I should have enforced the 50% down policy in the beginning of my business with them and all the headache could have been avoided. Kind of like the saying "Once the horse is out of the barn....":laugh2: I don't think you're wrong at all and I would gently remind her your policy. It's no different for than if a bridezilla changed her color scheme 10 days before the wedding and expected her to have everything switched...including gowns:rolleyes2
  21. oh and I also viewed through firefox and could see everything just fine Love the salt lamps too. My friend bought one and she double dog dared me to taste it so I did....and yup..tasted like salt!
