  1. Thanks so much Robin! I have some Neroli FO I just love - it is great in CP soap and in candles.
  2. I just got back from a trip to Europe and one of the stops on the cruise was in Morocco. Visited a 'herb shop' and found it sooo interesting! One of the things they had was a Orange Blossom EO that they use for headaches - just rub a little on the temple - I have NEVER heard of doing this before. I didn't buy any - big DUH on my part! And now would like to find some.:rolleyes2 Is Orange Blossom EO the same as Neroli? Any ideas where to find this EO? I can find all kinds of Orange (Sweet, Bitter, Etc) but not the 'blossom' EO.
  3. I am in Florida and I really really believe that the temp/humidity DOES effect the pouring - look - burning (wick) and everhtying else. I have poured when the weather is 'better' here and had a wonderful candle - then did the exact same candle when it was 'worse' and got frosting and wick acted 'goofy'. Makes one wonder what happens to our candles when we ship them to another location??? All the testing for the perfect combo goes right out the window!
  4. I love Kitty - the owner - she is so friendly and helpful. I buy my soap boxes from her but have never tried her FO's - Thanks for the reviews - I will "check em out" :highfive:
  5. I just poured (yesterday) Creme Brulee Cafe from Candle Cocoon and cold throw is awesome. I will burn this tomorrow after it cures a little more. I have also had good luck with the Peak's Hazelnut Cappuchino
  6. I will be interested to hear about these wicks also. I have heard good things about them but never tried them myself.
  7. It depends on how large a batch I am making - if I am making up only one 8 oz lotion then I will only use like one drop - just depends on how much color you want in your product. It is concentrated and I still have my original bottles.
  8. I also use the Select Shades and love them. I just posted in another thread about this product. Here is the link incase you want it : http://tradewinds.mainsecure.net/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=15&zenid=f53c054ef35f6f5097ebf68e607f5294
  9. I use the Select Shades from Tradewinds = http://tradewinds.mainsecure.net/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=15&zenid=f53c054ef35f6f5097ebf68e607f5294 and love them.
  10. Thank you all so much for the feedback! I just ordered some of the Pearlized Gel from KY (I also asked this question on another forum) and the feedback was great on this product. Is it possible to add extra Sodium Laural Sulfacate (sp??) to an existing gel? The one I have now just does NOT lather and I hate to waste it. If I could add extra SLS then maybe I could use this product.
  11. Sultry Angel from Candle Cocoon is Awesome. I just test burned this FO in 100% Soy at 6% and it filled the room with a softly 'scentual' fragrance.
  12. I found lots of different suppliers for the Shower Gel Base - but don't know if any of them are any good? I have one I ordered and it doesn't lather real well. Any suggestions for a good lathering. thick gel base? Thanks so much for any and all feedback!
  13. Okay I saw how to make this Whipped Soap from the link - but how do you do Rebatched Whipped Soap? Those all look awesome! I have also wanted to try this and wondered if anyone had. I am so glad you posted the pics and results - thanks.
  14. I have someone that wants me to come up with a patchouli 'blend' for some soy candles and I don't have a clue what to mix with this?? She loves the earthy-ness of the patch but doesn't think it would be good alone. How does patchouli Throw in Soy? Any and All ideas would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance.
  15. Will pour a few samples as soon as wax arrives - then post - my fingers are crossed as I REALLY want the ease of pouring hotter, no frosting and - BiG And Here - Good Hot Throw - all in one wax - TeeHee - hope that wax really exists:p
  16. I just ordered a sample of the EL Millenium and can't wait to try it - I had/have the same Throw problem with the EcoSoya Advanced - No Hot Throw at all. (no matter which FO I tried - even the WYW ones).
  17. I am really anxious to see if you can get hot throw from this wax. I have some vybar on order and maybe that will help?
  18. I have been wondering the same thing(s). Do you melt the beeswax then add it to the melted soy? And what exactly does the beeswax "do" for the finished candle (help hot throw, overall look etc)?
  19. Oh Dear - thank you for pointing that out Michi - As many times as I read the heading I Never Saw That ROFL! I saw "your top 10 PICK oil" So now I will go back and reread the WHOLE thread;)
  20. I also rebatch some of them and also use some to make laundry soap.
  21. From what I have read - there are different ingrediants used in different brands of plastic wrap. Some are better than others for not "sucking out" the fragrance. Again from what I have read - the Sam's (you can get at Wal-Mart) is the best plastic wrap for soap. It also stretches which is a plus.
  22. JimC - thanks for the reply - I have NOT done the Grams - I took some time searching for a good calculator - after reading your response - to see if I could easily convert my recipes to grams. I will test this - but it is a great suggestion and I feel like "duh" for not thinking of it myself:shocked2:
  23. Can I ask = What suppliers are you getting these Top 10 from? I have noticed a big difference in the quality of oils from different suppliers and am trying to narrow down my choices. I have been ordering sample sizes and want to get about 15 "standards" to have on hand in larger quantities. And Generally - what % do you add your FO to get your Top 10?
  24. The very first thing I have noticed with Everyone - is they pick it up and sniff it. If you go into a candle shop and just watch the people - that is the first thing they ALL do. Most people don't notice if the candle is frosted or has a smooth top. They notice the color in Relationship to the Scent. After they get it home they want the Scent to be "there" - they want to be able to actually smell the fragrance. If the wick curls or mushrooms they usually don't notice (or care unless it drowns out or they can't relight it). So this is what I test for - I notice the type of wick in relation to the Melt Pool as this is what usually determines the Throw of the fragrance. After I got into making candles I started to look at the commercial candles - some have frosting. Some have pitted tops or sink holes. Some have little to no scent throw (cold). In other words - Most people don't have a clue ABOUT candles or HOW they are suppose to burn. Just an observation on my part. But something I try to keep in mind when I am testing something new.
  25. Does anyone know where I can find information on the "properties" of soy wax? I can find info on soy in Foods but not for topical use (on the skin). Does it still have Vit E left in it? Are there any healing benifits when used on the skin? Does it retain or add moisture? Does it "soften" the skin like a pariffin wax (salon Wax Treatment)? I have searched on Google and can't seem to find any info. I just have to figure out what to do with all of this wax - crips - almost 50# that I Can NOT make work in candles. Thanks for any and all information, suggestions or hints!
