I think this has been discussed before but I never have luck using the search feature! I'm hoping there's an easier way to label the 1 oz. portion cups we all use for little single tarts. I've been feeding one of those 80/page label sheets through my printer - about 4 times per page printing 20 for strawberry, 20 for patchoui, etc. My printer is about to blow up! (Plus, I don't really need 20/fragrance). Anyway, if anyone could point me to any previous discussion on this I'd appreciate it!

Thanks everyone! I just don't think I can bring myself to pay the $66/pound anymore.... it is great stuff, but I've got to get smart.... I did get some from CS, while nice it's just not as "rich". Thanks again, I'll check out those other supplies:smiley2:

I'm wondering if anyone could suggest a fragrance, or fragrances, that would fall into the same category as Sweetcake's Angel.... too bad it is soooo expensive.. but it does sell very well for me and I'd like to add at least one similar fragrance. This would be in CP soap. So, anyone know of a good fragrance that is kind of patchouli - amber - sandalwood - 'ish' ?? Thanks in advance!!

Ok, well, of the three we poured one came out pretty good, picture below. We already threw the other two in to be remelted. The only thing different was the blue one was by itself under a box and the other two were together under a box. Could the heat of the two combined been enough to affect the tortoise shelling? One had a hint of the crackling, but the other was smooth (which I really like, too ) If we could just get a consistent visual we could jump to testing wicks, which I'm sure will give me more grey hair. Oh goody P.S. My camera is giving me fits so this isn't the best picture....

I'd love to have some of these bowls, too. Could you add me to the 'notify' list when you get some more??? :embarasse

I hear people talk about discounting their water when making CP.... can I ask how much of a discount some take? I feel very brave holding out a couple ounces on my 8# batch....(don't have my actual recipe here or I'd be more exact) - but do some of you take up to, like, 30%???? Thanks!

Thanks everyone - we poured 3 more today - no bubble wrap - so we'll see what we've got in the morning. I'll post new pictures, but my husband says he will not cut another one in half, that palm wax is hard and brittle! I bet his curiosity will get to him about the voids, so I'm sure at least one of them will get "autopsied" I just love the way the palm wax feels, it is so smooth and clean feeling. We've only played with soy up until now, but I think I've got a new favorite! Thanks again and again!

Have a couple issues I was hoping for help in diagnosing. I've attached pics. Wax was melted to 200 Poured at 180 FO 6% Mold is 3 x 31/2" I insulated with bubble wrap and put the wrapped mold on bubble wrap on the counter and put a box over the top (CS says slow cooling is the best) Needless to say, my results are less than desirable Relief holes were poked at about 1 hour into cooling and then again in another 30-40 minutes. Does the fact that the voids are close to the bottom of the candle mean I almost had that part right, with the air being able to move up almost all the way but getting trapped at the very end; meaning I should have poked again?? Thanks in advance!

I've soaped the Clean Cotton, used .9/lb but it's still very light..... maybe not a bad thing but kind of get run over by my stronger fragrances:grin2:

Uhhh, I am just covering the hole (and the wick) with the sealer stuff, how embarrassing ~ am I supposed to use a plug of some sort, too?? I can't believe I didn't know that!!!!!! duh... (and you're correct, no wick pin).

Ok, dumb question for the day: You know the gooey, gummy, stuff you use on pillar to keep the wax from leaking?? How do you keep it from sticking all over your wick once you remove it from the mold??? And my next dumb question is - where do you find this? I'm using some grey stuff I got from Michaels..... I have customers asking for Bubble Bath....Does anyone have an opinion of a good base? There are many to choose from..... kind of like the milky-looking ones but hate to just blindly order. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Judy

The UV inhibitor we use is yellow and grainy.........can't remember where we got it though.

We have solved our cracking problems by pouring our votives in cardboard boxes and covering with a cardboard lid. We warm the votive cups and the cardboard with the heat gun right before pouring. We also do the same thing with our 8 oz. tins. Hope we can stop this once it warms up....if it ever does!

Does anyone have any hints on how to get the end of this wax out of the plastic it's poured in? What a mess! Heating the knife helps it cut but when you're down to the bottom of the 'bag' its nearly impossible to get it out from between the wrinkles/folds of the plastic.... seems like there would be a better way to package this stuff! Thanks in advance!

It's actually 3" diameter.... yeah, I think I need to go down a wick size... others we've used the LX18 in burn pretty good; again - big flame, and a pretty good mushroom. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Even though I am a beginner, I think this flame is too big! We made this pillar with 4045H, 5% fragrance and a lx 18 wick.... the funny thing is, even if we trim the wick and relight, it immediately jumps way back up... could this be from the fragrance - - too much? It's CS Hansel & Gretel (sp?) - smells great but I'm afraid the ceiling is going to catch fire!!

If your recipe has lard in it, depending on the amount, it will probably be a pretty hard bar. When I make "lye soap" I use 85% lard and 15% canola oil (just so the bar doesn't get harder than a brick and chip and break when cutting). You could cut a 1/2 inch piece off the bottom of one of your bars and see just how far the bar has cured. You may be able to see a difference in color and probably a difference in the texture in there - - Hope that helps!

Thanks Stella == I have been using LX wicks, and do experience some mushrooming. I was just on NGI's site and for the life of me I can't find where I read not to use LX wicks because they may mushroom. Maybe I dreamed it :smiley2: Thanks for sharing your knowledge and advice :highfive:

Thank you so much for the link to NGI - looks like they recommend a different wick that the wax supplier I've bought from \ The fact their site plainly states to pour the candles at a room temp. of around 70 degrees pretty much lets me know what my problem is in regard to the wicks popping. I wish the resellers of this wax would have this detailed information listed for these waxes. Thanks again
