Oh geez, for some reason I'm feeling 'old' ) You are so nice - yes, I remember that vet shop; that was a little while ago - our recipe hasn't changed much, maybe a little since then. I've learned a lot through the years but still not smart enough not to try a new FO in a 30 bar batch! FO's have gotten much 'better' than they used to be back in the 90's when you never knew what you were going to get when you added it to your batch. (And so many more supplier options!). Darn it!!!!!! And the dope I am I ordered another 16 oz. (because I was just so sure it was going to be great and wanted to take advantage of their 'shipping sale').....Oh well, I think I'll use it in other things, but boy, it does smell soooo good. Rats. Thanks for the feedback.

Just wondering it it was something I did - but made a batch of CP with this fragrance and it siezed on me sooooo bad! I haven't had a fragrance sieze like that in years. Maybe I had my oils too warm or something .... Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with this FO?

Had one for ten years, closed in May - - - can't help but think 'what was I thinking' - - but I guess I enjoyed what I was doing at the time. Now working from home (like it all began) and now when I get a $30 web order I don't have to use part to pay the rent! Lovin' it!!!

Hmmm, my guess would be that it has something to do with it getting colder on the outside - heat generates from the middle out...... was your soap on a cold countertop?

Snowdrift Farm has ripped me off for $19.95 for 16 oz. Eucalyptus.....they charged me for it, labeled it as backordered --- this was 9-27 - and today is 11-1. I don't even see the product on their website. They DON'T answer their phones, DON'T return emails - - I will NEVER NEVER order from them again. Very disappointed. I guess they don't care....hope they enjoy my $$$$. Judy

Re: Entering products on the iPad - - there was a guy at a show this weekend and that's what he had done; pretty snazzy. Ok, another dumb question - - if we have a Verizon hot spot (and it can find a 3G signal) do we have to subscribe to a data plan too? (Sorry, really ignorant re: all this tech stuff)

We're about to throw our little Way Systems unit as far as it will fly!! We are wanting to go with the Square Up processing, but being old school we don't have an IPhone or an IPad and are wondering if anyone has an opinion as to what would be easiest for 2 technology challenged people to get :smiley2: Also was wondering what happens when you can't get an internet connection,,,does it process the transaction in an off-line mode? I use their Seaside, Tropical Fruit Slices...Seaside is one of my best sellers. I've used many from Mill Creek, none others you've listed, but they are all very friendly in CP soap with goatsmilk. Hope that helps! Judy

Thanks for the reply - I'll check out that recipe...I cut my fragrance in half and that seems to have solved the spongy problem; they sure didn't want to stick together though! (I use a little meatballer). Made me wonder why the heck I even considered making these again!

I have this recipe for bath bombs that I used to make years ago...don't remember them being 'spongy' the next day. By spongy I mean slightly compressable. No fizzy bumps on the surface so I don't think it's a humidity issue - I use weights and measurements - 9.8 baking soda 2.7 cornstarch 4.3 citric acid 1 1/4 tsp. water 3 1/4 tsp. oil (using frac. coconut oil - used to use almond - could that matter?) 2 tsp. FO 1/4 tsp. borax Any thoughts would be appreciated! Judy

Hi Barb - Well, I stick blended my soap (after heating) and it's in a clear jar now...the bottom is starting to go clear. I imagine I've worked air into the soap so we'll see what happens but I've pretty much written this batch off ) I'm going to try your recipe above (crock pot method ok?) - will I use about 40 oz. water to dilute that recipe? Sure, I'd love to try the Coco Loco recipe, it comes out clear? The part of the soap that diluted is fairly thin, but if the whole batch was 'emulsified' i'd be happy. Going to try your suggestion of heating to 140 and stick blending later this afternoon. thanks again, Judy

Ok, here's what I used: 33 oz. Sunflower Oil 14 oz. coconut oil 11 oz. KOH 33 oz. water So does that mean I technically had 91 oz. of paste? (roughly 5.5#) Using your 13oz water/lb. I should have added 72 oz. water ---- I've add 70 oz. so I've apparently screwed up somewhere else along the way.

One last question, promise!!!! If I can find the answer to this I think I'll have it figured out. In reading I find a site with dilution rates. For Example it says: For 15 percent soap — 48 ounces water (3 pounds) added per pound of paste I think my brain is thicker than my soap but how do I figure out the 15% soap?? I'm stuck in the "If I have 16 oz. soap paste I need to add XX amount of water" I'm sorry to be so helpless here ~ I really appreciate the help. Judy

Well, before I got your reply above I added 10 oz. boiling water to the whole batch, heated over low heat for about an hour, tried to break up my globs thinking smaller globs would disolve easier...................3 hours later I have a pot of liquid soap (thin) with still large chunks of clear soap. If this is how long this process takes all I can say is this is no fun! With Cold Process you can tell right away if a batch has flopped ~ with this stuff I have no clue. I used 33 oz. sunflower, 14 coconut, 11 KOH, 33 water. Added 60 oz. water to dilute then another 10 oz. 24 hours later.............no progress on dissolving...

Her instructions were to add 60-80 oz. water to dilute, I added 60 wanting the soap to be a little thicker; also thinking it would be easier to add more....so maybe I'll add 10oz. more boiling water and see what that does?? Can I also ask you this - - I ran the recipe through a lye calculator and as I remember (this was yesterday, afterall ) it wasn't anywhere close to the recommended KOH - - My main question - being an old Cold process soaper I use and trust the calculator I use. Can I feel confident using this calculator (Rainbow Meadow); obviously switching to KOH and going with 0% superfat? I feel like a fish out of water here! Thanks SO much, Judy

Hi All - I found, and followed, the liquid soap tutorial by "Z" from 2008. I followed it, everything seems to go right along with instructions (and the participants comments).... dropped some of the soap glob in boiling water (at about the 4 hour point) and had clear soap. So, my crock pot wasn't big enough to hold the dilution water so I boiled my distilled water in my big spaghetti pot, and plopped all the globs in..... I did give it a little stir but now 6 hours later I have about what I had 6 hours ago! It didn't all melt together, wah!!! I'd say maybe 1/2 of this soap melted into the water. Do I just *wait*?? I've used it in CP with goatsmilk and it's doesn't discolor at all; maybe a creamy tan if anything but no 'browning' at all ) Hope that helps!
