  1. They haven't and probably won't integrate the Regional boxes. I think the Post Office is keeping those to themselves. Since they are giving us such dang good discounts for shipping them. I wished they would have came up with those things 2 years ago. But on topic printing labels with Paypal is the best. They do offer the First Class parcel & Parcel Post rates without having to pay Indicia or Stamps.com monthly fees.
  2. This has been discussed in another thread but I have to put my 2 cents in on this one as well... This by far could save all of us so much money it's not even funny! Your local Post Office WILL NOT EVER have these. It's designed for businesses to save them some money. My rep with the Post Office said it was there way of giving back to the businesses that support their business. They don't want the "average joe" walking in and saving $3 or more bucks per Priority mail shipment. They want the businesses that use the Post Office to get the reward. PLUS - you can only ship them through Click-n-ship as of right now. So it's allowing their clerks at the counter to work on other walk-ins instead of these. Not sure if Indicia, or Stamps.com allows them - but you cannot get the boxes and then go to the Post Office to pay postage. I know 100% sure that Paypal doesn't offer them as an option when shipping stuff. And they include delivery confirmation just like any other Priority Mail package that you ship through Clicknship. Also, I have gotten 9 - 8 oz jelly jars & 36 teas in the regional B - box and 5 - 8 oz jelly jars in the regional A box. BUT when you order through your account ORDER EXTRAS! You don't wanna run out of these. As I stated in the other thread about this subject - this option will very well change the shipping game for the Post Office. I have used Priority Mail the entire time I have been doing e-commerce but I was considering going the UPS. Now - I wouldn't even bother. My LOOOOOONG 2 cents - for what it's worth....
  3. Regional Rate Boxes are THE best thing since sliced bread! I mailed a 12# box that would have be $14.95 by Lg FRB and it was $6 something. Amazing! And I found it by accident, ordered the supplies and BAM saved a ton! This will definitely give everyone something to think about - especially in the "heavy" candle and soap business! Even with the rate increase that already happened and the one coming up in April on first class mail the Post Office is still a better deal.
  4. We use some from PW that have a soy/beeswax blend and it keeps the wicks straighter when putting them in our tealights. I have to say it works nicely...
  5. Unscented jars blow my mind. We always gets asked for them at shows and NEVER - NEVER have them! We always have that on our to do list and it never makes it to the top! Unscented everything sells - for someone because we never remember to make them either!
  6. We heat to 185 (recommended by manufacturer), add FO, we don't use dyes, stir the oil for 2 minutes, let set until temp reaches 150-155 and then pour. We also preheat our jars. We used to pour at lower temps but had problems with pockets. Some FO still have pockets at the 150-155 but most of them do good at that. Hope this helps...
  7. Christmas Hearth, Apple Harvest, Twigs & Berries (super funny name) were all super big hits for us at the show last weekend. We sold them in 8oz jelly jars, clamshell tarts & 2 pk teas. All sold out - plus already have reorders. CS has done it again.
  8. Luminous - what an awesome display you have. Very - VERY - good usage of all of your space. We also have crates - old "repurposed" apple crates we got from a antique dealer for $6 each. Took them out - scrubbed them down with soap, water & pressure washer and they look so awesome. We just added cardboard risers which we purchased from Collector's House - which is where we also get our fitted table covers. You should also look in your yellow pages - alot of bigger cities have display houses that buy old/used displays when places go out of business or remodel and you can get some nice displays for over half price of retail. Normally in good shape. Just a few more ideas....:rolleyes2
  9. Now that one could knock Monkey Farts off the throne! Great Job Judy's Hubby!
  10. Never mixed the 2 either but they are best sellers for us as well. Will definitely have to try for next year... & call it Cranberry Toes... Mistletoe Marmalade... Cranberry Mistletoe...
  11. I agree on the monthly fees from UPS. We ship alot of pkgs and for them to charge me a monthly fee was absolutely absurd. In response to Noodle about the carrier not picking up from USPS - when we saw our volumes increasing we scheduled a meeting with our local post master and let them know even though we weren't a brick & mortar store that our customers were just as important and we needed them "on board" - she agreed and we've had great service with them for 3 years now. If the price from UPS become competitive and equivable then we'll have to rethink it - but for now we are cheering for the good ol' post office...
  12. I really hate to hear that Noodle. We have consistently had great results with Prio Mail going to the west coast from the east coast in 3 days... For us it's just seems more green to use USPS because they go to 99% of their route everyday. UPS makes special trips for rural customers.... Just thinking out loud...
  13. Can you divulge the sizes? We heard that they are comparable to the post office BUT priority mail will still be faster?
  14. Ok - since said person doesn't have wick pins we will tell you what we did for a year until we got wick pins. We poured 7 votives per pound of pillar blend wax - so we took a board, drilled holes in it the size of these little small magnets (like 1/4" round - found them at Wally World). Then we put our votive cups on top of the the hole with the magnet in it. Then set your wick into the cup and center using a popsicle stick. TRUST me - if your using votive cups they will slice you open faster than a meat processor. NEXT - prepare wax as directed by manufacturer and pour into cups. LASTLY - the key to straight wicks. We took clear plastic disposible coctail cups - or anything that will fit over top of your votive cup and drilled a hole in the center. Thread the wick through the top, center and bend over to hold in place. Worked like a charm - until we discovered wick pins on here.... When you decide to go to wick pins - and most likely you will. You get what you pay for. We bought some from one supplier, much cheaper BUT they were simply a nail driven through a metal disk. Didn't work anything as well as the ones for 30% more cost from another supplier. And the silicone mold spray they recommend really does work. Sorry to be so long winded but we struggled with many variations of the above process and finally perfected with a net cost of about $10. BUT wick pins are so much less labor intensive.
  15. VV from CS is our best selling candle for 3 years running. Xcellent HOT & COLD throw and no need to wick up at all...
  16. We use the ECO PB as well and an ECO wick... Works good so far...
  17. Oh Oh Oh - where do I get it. I hate aroma beads and we even tried the oil dri stuff - which works but is so dusty working with it.
  18. Your exactly right. Guess I should keep my mouth shut because I have never purchased anything from bitter creek... have never compared their prices.
  19. We have a 4 sided slat wall unit - on wheels - one side for tarts, one side for scented teas and the two end caps for accessories! Works great! Uses slat wall hooks - just like peg hooks. Bought it used - you should check the yellow pages or google for used displays. Might be something local you can go and get for at least half price.
  20. Snowdrift Farm has all your looking for I think.... just not east of Miss... Sorry
  21. How about a punch? Michaels, AC Moore & Hobby Lobby all have them that will punch that big and that shape and alway have at least a 40% off coupon emailed weekly and in the Sunday papers... I'd swear they were hand-made... Also, JoAnn fabric has 50packs of card stock all the time for $3.99 but they run them on special 50% off alot as well...
  22. We never cover ours either. Heat to 185, add FO stir, stir, stir - pour at 160-165 - come out great every time... So Go ahead & PEEK...
  23. As everyone has stated before location is everything. BUT - with that said - and I promise I don't work for or get kick backs from them but CandleScience has the best prices hands down. Plus they have the most "fair" shipping policy i've seen yet. Not to say they can't be out done but most of their prices are hard to beat. IMO...
