  1. I can't believe this is happening again!! wait...yes I can. People are ridiculous. I would absolutely send her a message. Start marking ALL your photos posted anywhere online with a watermark or some type of marking with your biz name.
  2. Lmao! Captain save a Ho...you guys are too much! I don't carry monkey Farts however if I did I would consider calling it monkey stinkers or tooten monkey ....wonder if that would "pass" .
  3. Oh...lol LIVID wasn't and still isn't the word. I have been working on new labels/tags, etc. What a PITA.
  4. I got it! Lol Sorry I will reply back to you PAgirl! I see you found me on fb too! Do you have a page?
  5. I started with a small jar kit from Peaks. It came with hexagon jars and a few floral scents. I can honestly say I never thought 9 years later I would be where I am with this. We now do jars votives and melts and a few other non candle related crafts. Given the fact that I went on a 2 year hiatus (gave birth to my two little guys) we are back at it. I was going to throw in the towel but I enjoy it too much lol. I missed everything about it. And its like anything else when you do something that long and it becomes second nature to you its tough to just stop and say your not doing it any longer, but over the years we have learned through mistakes and changed our look so many times. Sorry just has a reflective sentimental moment there ...doesnt happen often.
  6. Yea I pretty much figured that out after that conversation I had on the phone. Pa Girl you must be near me then? I just figured none of her stuff is handpoured like mine so it shouldn't matter, there are plenty of other places like Zern's for example where several vendors sell candles. Abundascents at Zerns is the major candle store there and they have been there for years, but they still let others rent booths with candles regardless. I have seen them. I guess it's different when you are the one with the store and you own the place.???? oh well, it's all good I was just slightly upset at the time and a little shocked but I'm over it now. LOL!!! thanks for listening everyone!
  7. emilyspoppy....thanks for the advice. We did decide to just stick to our craft shows and customer orders for now. The market does have outside pavilions for warmer weather to rent spaces so that is always an option. we considered green dragon too, but the market I am referring to is in kutztown (renningers). I didn't want to put it out there but to be honest I really don't care at this point.
  8. okay I looked at this and i'm slightly confused....is it 50 bucks per trademark?
  9. Okay, so we have been tossing around the idea of a booth in a farmers market for years now, but unfortunately there aren't many around here locally that don't already have well established candle vendors (handpoured I might add) and I wouldn't touch the markets that do. However, today my mom and I decided to take a trip to one market in particular near my work that is a indoor/outdoor year round market. We are walking around checking things out....so far so good no other candle vendors anywhere...hmmm. Seemed strange but okay. There was ONE "store" that took up 1/4 of the end of a whole wing, like this womans booth fee had to be enormous...she was your average primitive country store, everything she has is resale, most of it I recognized from CDM Wholesale, no votives the only jars she had were Keeper of the Light. So my mom and I are walking through this place checking things out and she's watching us like a hawk. I swear some people just have a sense for scoping out another crafter lol. After about 5 minutes of staring us down comes up to us and stands right behind me and says if you need help with anything just let me know. I felt like asking her if she was planning on crawling up my butt as close as she was....anyway so we after we ventured through the rest of the market and antique section we found one decent size stall that was empty...yay I'm thinking it's available. i find the office and ask about it. The womans tells me it's 185 a month, and right now they are waiting to hear back from someone whether or not they are taking but they should know in a week and if not then it's available. she basically said hey if you have the deposit money it's yours. Didn't ask what I do or planned on selling. Okay...so we go home application in hand, and all the while discussing pros and cons. Finally I decide to call them and find out whether or not I can just go ahead and put a deposit on it. I get the same woman I talked to when I was there. I said to her " HI I was just there a few hours ago and I got an application from you for the empty booth" She said yes. I asked her if it was her I spoke to and she said yes. I asked her again just to confirm about the other person who may be taking the booth, if they put a desposit on it or what the deal is. she said yes they did but we are waiting to hear if they are definetly taking it. I said okay so they basically have first dibbs then right? She said yes, so then I asked her whether they could let me know if the guy takes it. I said to her at the store has anyone else inquired about it and she told me no. So then on the phone she pauses and says wait what is it that you want to sell? I explained that I have a hndpoured candle business we have been in business since 2004 blah blah blah.........she pauses........"Well, you can fill out the application and fax it back or drop it off but the owner is very selective of what is allowed to be sold here." ??? Where did this come from.......I said okay well that's fine...we walked around and there were no other candle vendors.....She responds "Oh no there are plenty of candles down at C------ M--------'s" (the primitive store I was telling you about). I said "oh you mean S------ R-------'s store?", she says "yes that one. All I can say is you can fill out the application and send it in, but there's a wait list". !!!!! (Now there's a wait list???) Low and behold people the woman running this store is the owner of the farmers markets wife..And I wondered why there was no other candle OR home decor vendors.....END RANT
  10. Just poured mine today...I can say its close, smells a little more like spiced cranberry to me though, but either way its good. Hopefully the HT is just as strong.
  11. Yes sister3 if you have the info that would be awesome if you could send it to me. I didn't think you could copyright label design or product packaging designs. I know one thing, I pulled my stuff out of that shop real quick. We actually just revamped our scent list and I just came up with about 5 scents names that I made up so I need to look into trademarking them as well.
  12. lol I actually didn't even see that in that part of the article....interesting. Yea I personally have never used them, I always wondered about them but at the same time I am like you I would be afraid of getting burned, however people have been buying them and love them. I did actually find a "mom and pop" chandler in Arizona after some extensive searching - who I think we are going to use. Thanks for everyones help!
  13. Ear candling is an ancient art that has been recently rediscovered. Ear Candles are used to open the higher spiritual centers, Chakras, when striving to develop our more than human senses. that they have cleared up sinus problems, eliminated sinus headaches, relieved symptoms of allergies, colds, ringing in the ears - in three consecutive sessions, nor... of course that they draw wax and Candidia from the ear (yeast infection by any other name), even though our current customers are affirming all that and more. that is all .....
  14. I found a bunch of sites to go with but I wanted to post this just to educate some who don't know what it is....... Paraffin Ear Candles are the oldest (modern) ear candle. There's not much information available prior to 1990 (and the onset of the internet) regarding ear candle manufacturing. There are reports of health food stores selling paraffin ear candles as early as 1970, but mostly ear candles were made by families who had passed down the method from generation to generation. Paraffin or recycled candle wax and strips of cotton fabric (or what ever was available around the house) were used. The resurgence of alternative therapies (home remedies) and wellness awareness in the early 90's also gave rise to an increased interest in ear candling. Since Soy had not been introduced in the 90's and beeswax was very expensive, paraffin became the obvious choice in wax. Paraffin is an inexpensive by-product of petroleum oil. It is a durable wax with a hard set and high melt point which means it burns longer and has a harder surface than beeswax or soy. It burns clear, which means that even though the flame is as high as beeswax or soy, it is less visible to the eye. The unfortunate disadvantage to paraffin is also the reason skeptics and "quack watchers" call ear candles a scam. Paraffin wax does not burn completely and therefore clogs the tip of the candle with a gooey gunk that many earlier practitioners assumed was ear wax. Customers were left believing that all that wax was from their ear. As long as customers know that there is a lot of paraffin left inside the candle (and it's NOT from their ear), paraffin remains the most popular choice among those who ear candle.
  15. thank you Beth. I am just going to do some searching on the internet for a wholesaler.
  16. You guys don't know what Ear Candling is???? Google it. ETA- I supposed I'm not going to get any answers ..thanks anyway :/
  17. The chiropractor I work for is looking to start carrying ear candles in the office. I dont make these...however I wanted to see if anyone on here or even if someone knows a fellow chandler who makes ear candles I would love to give the business to them instead of major manufacturer. She had some ear candles lying around from a few years ago and we decided to put them out and they flew off the shelf. I will be doing the purchasing so if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be very helpful...
  18. I know this thread is old but I wanted to say I just ran into this situation but i was the company who's label was copied. Basically my products have been in a certain store for years and I haven't been there for quite some time. My mother in law sells her handmade items there and just a month ago I helped her deliver some items to the store (she normally takes my candles in for me) just to see in a seperate room candles that i though for a split second were mine. Nope....come to find out one of the owners of the store decided to start making candles too and also decided to copy EXACTLY my labels for jars, votives and melts straight down to the packaging and homespun. I was a little ticked off to put it lightly. It's not a nice feeling to spend endless hours sitting at a computer designing something you think is going to be your own and you are proud of just to have someone steal it right out from under you. That tells you alot about that person. Sorry ....thanks for letting me vent !!!!
  19. Candleberry has a registered trademark next to Hot Maple Toddy on their site. I didn't know that scent name was registered by them?? Did anyone else know this?
  20. Girl.....I have been making candles for almost ten years now .....selling for about 7. I still test the same scents we have been carrying for years just to be sure nothing has changed. Please please please listen to what everyone is telling you.
