  1. Yes I thought of things like that. But I wasn't sure about types of plastic and oil scents mixing. I guess if I stayed with the food type storage containers than that would be safe??? Does glad make a large storage container in their throw aways. Those would be cheap.
  2. Hi Robin, My order for supplies will be here tonight. I have 4 pouring pots coming. LOL I am going to place them in my turkey roaster to make seperate scented tart batches. this should be a faster way for me. Got tired of having only 2 pots. I also ordered a few pillar molds can't wait to try. Have a great weekend !! Brooke
  3. Hello, Looking for the cheapest storage idea for finished ( scented) corn cob air fresheners. Right now I am using my old canning jars I had. It would be nice to have something a lot bigger to keep the scents in ( with a lid too ) That way I can make more ahead for stock. Got any ideas ? Brooke SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO GO OUT ON THE LIMB, BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE THE FRUIT IS !!
  4. Has anyone ventured to the spa side of candle making. Wondering what scents would be used in a spa collection. Essential oils for spa candles? Just a idea. Hey I could handle several relaxing spa candles surronding me LOL LOL Lavender Green Tea What else? Brooke
  5. I guess I am just spoiled with the crushed corn cob price. I can buy a 40 lb. bag at my local Co-op for $10.00 I have not tested the Aroma Beads to see how good they are. How much stonger are the aroma beads verses other air freshener materials? I will just have to order me a sample. Thanks for your input!
  6. Hello, I have to ask why are the aroma beads so expensive? What are they anyway? Does anyone have a suggestion where to purchase these in a bulk price? There has to be a better price out there somewhere
  7. Hi Slow Burn, I ended up calling my State's Department of Revenue to find out how I need to handle these different groups. For me in Indiana If I have a non exempted group say AAU Basketball group they do not have a tax exempt # then total sales is taxed. It was explained to me that it is like me hiring them to sell my candles. There has to be a change in owner ship of the candles. The only way to do this is with the tax exempt Certificate form that must be filled out completely. This is call Title Change. Woohooo to technical I wish you the best of luck with your fundraisers too Say you have a great State to live in for Craft suppliers See you on the next thread Brooke Brooke
  8. I have more information on sales tax for fundraisers if you are interested. However this only applies to Indiana. If you have a: Not for profit organization they need to fill out the ST105 form providing their tax exempt # and you keep this form on file for future needs if audited. You can print this form off the Indiana department of Revenue site. Now for the non exempt group: Sales tax is collected on full gross sales price and handed over to the State Sorry this stuff is confusing. Didn't you know my state needs every dime they can get LOL Anyway I am glad to know what I need to do here. Not all states are the same. Chow *getdown* Brooke
  9. Sorry too When I order I always go back in and delete all cookies files and than clear all history files. Not sure if I am right but when you have a spy they are pulling information that you have been looking at. I have went back in to look myself in Cookies and you can see where I have used a cart to order items. Who knows I just feel better when I delete all those files. One time I was online with a live chat to support went in and deleted cookies and history files and lost connection with online support. Maybe this will help Brooke
  10. Sorry I didn't mean you are confusing. I mean just the tax stuff altogether. Brooke
  11. Slow burn so confusing I will get some pencil scratches down on paper LoL and look at my figures. So I can finish these fundraiser information packets Thanks for the help !!! Brooke
  12. Good Morning All, Need your thoughts on this for normal tax exempt fundraiser I am thinking to offer 40% of sales. now on sales taxed fundraisers what would your thoughts be. Having a conflict here at home on this discussion I was first thinking to offer 35% of sales to non exempt because of the tax burden. Candles are $12.00 for 12.5 oz. inorder to simplify tax collected candles have a base price of $11.32 x this by 6% sales tax = $12.00 that way the kids do not have to figure tax or mess with change. here is the conflict If exempt group makes 40% of $12.00 = $4.80 for group/ me $7.20 non exempt group makes : 40% of $11.32 = $4.53 for group/ me $6.79 tax= .68 Would you offer the same % profit for each group and eat most of the sale tax expense or ???? or just say everyone makes $4.50 each candle and forget the math confusion:bliss: Lets here it LOL LOL Brooke
  13. Thank you for all the advice I can't believe how my fagrances list keeps getting larger and larger and larger. addict all the way LOL Brooke
  14. Hi Everyone, What is your advice for the best Lavender Scent  I have tried SNTP but the oil turned my wax light blue Look forward to hearing your thougths Brooke
  15. Jeana, I have just been researching on testing Bath & Body information. So far the testing does seem a bit pricey. Here is a link for a home test kit. http://www.snowdriftfarm.com/chek-it.html again a bit pricey for me at this time. However I contacted a company in my area about testing for me. They are actually a water/ refreshement company and have a biologist/chemist that perform all their testing . Hopefuly I can make arrangement to do business with them. Even if I can purchase test kits from them, that would be great. Try your yellow pages for Laboratories testing and supplies. This is where I started. Good Luck Brooke
  16. Man!!! you are a wealth of information. I should get instructions from you too:rockon: Perfect Thanks brooke
  17. Thanks for your advice ! We live in Indiana. I have never tried to make pillars yet but I really love their look. I will have to do a search for instructions to gear up and experiament as soon as I figure out all the supplies I need. Crossing my figures I don't have to add another supplier on the list. LOL Brooke

  21. Hi guys, Been away for awhile. Sorry about the mishap. When you enjoy being creative it is hard to let something go before you have had a chance to enjoy the glory first. Thank you for sharing. I have been wondering how the ball bounces with all of the FOs around. :tiptoe: What I mean is how and where these FOs emerge from I am curious how many real perfumers are out there the true manufactures. Hey it is great to be back on the threads, been busy Brooke
  22. Hi Everyone, Feels like I am all to new to the board. Been so busy. Had my first Craft show went ok not a lot of people. So I came home and had a open house/ good results $400./ great way to get the word out to your local community. Fundraisers connection are in the making I am having fun now Went to the bank yesterday the girls want a brochure to order. WOW a order! Now I just have to design a brochure. Ok sorry, Question is can you give me some advise on the seasonal fragrance timeline. For instance: How long would you keep in stock Pumpkin Spice scents before people loose interest and are looking for more of the spring time scents. This will help me learn the marketing timeline. All new to me As always, I love your input ! P.S. TerrieW. you were so right on the wax testing info. I know I have tested over 12 kinds of wax here, and to be happy I still have to come up with my own version. Happy Thanksgiving All Best Regards, Brooke
  23. Stearic acid Is this what you are referring to. I do have some here but I am not sure how much to add to get a nice white and not affect wicking if it would. The candles I am making are in glass jars. They are not all soy my own mix. But I have chosen not to color my containers (only tarts and wickless). Believe it or not I have had several people tell me they really don't like some of the colors out there and it is hard to match their room decor at home. Sounds good to me I will try no color for now. By the way THANKS GOES TO EVERYONE RESPONING TO MY THREAD I can't believe this is already the end of October. Does anyone else feel this way? I have spent most of my time in the basement with my candles. WOW! Brooke
  24. Have you ever used white dye? I would like to know how well it works and where to find it. JBN is the only place to find liquid so far. Goal is to have is to keep my wax as white as possible. Share if you can and always greatful for your time Brooke
