  1. Boy you would be giving away a lot of candles if you didn't think soy candles with frost or wet spots were worth selling.

I recently made 2 candles in 18 oz containers with 444 soy wax.  Poured both of them at the same time of course.  One came out perfectly; the other had wet spots (wax didn't adhere to the glass).  There is no rhyme or reason to wet spots.  I'm here to testify of that.

I looked at some Woodwick candles at Cracker Barrel. Virtually every one had wet spots.

Dickens Christmas is a perfect Christmas scent.  Boy, is it strong!  The price is right too.  I am out and plan on ordering more next fall.  It will be my main Christmas fragrance next year.  I like the name too.

Description:  A sweet and spicy scent of orange, warm cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove tones blended with a fruity and musky background.

Hi Gail!  I hope you are doing well.  Thank you for your help with Aztec FO’s.  I know, I was a few minutes late on the sale so figured I would make a post about it first.  I always do a search but then I also like to re-ask Out of your list the ones I have are:

    Caramel Pecan Pie

    Cantaloupe & Lily

    Leaves

    Sweet Potato & Brown Sugar

    Volcano
    Monkey Farts

And I agree they are all fantastic!  With the Brazilian Coffee & Pure Cane how would you describe that coffee?  Plain, spicy, etc...  And the Bayside Marina.... That one sounds yummy and would like to try it out eventually.  Can you smell the grapefruit right away?  Thanks again Gail!  😇🎄💫

I love Brazilian Coffee.  Except for the name which is too long, so I renamed it Kona coffee.  Kona coffee is part of the description.  No spicy smell at all. Just a rich coffee and cream smell I guess.

I don't smell any grapefruit at all in Bayside Marina.  Just a clean/fresh ocean smell.

  4. You just missed their 10% off sale.  :)  I didn't get in on it because I'm trying to cut back. I used all my Christmas Splendor though; a really good Christmas scent.  As is Victorian Christmas and Mistletoe Kiss.

    Others I like are:

    Caramel Pecan Pie

    Black Raspberry Vanilla

    Brazilian Coffee & Pure Cane

    Bayside Marina

    Cantaloupe & Lily - Love!

    Mulled Cider

Leaves - Love and customer favorite

    Sweet Potato & Brown Sugar

    Sells well:

    Volcano

    Love Spell

    Monkey Farts

I have other good ones, but those are my favorites.

I’m with you Gail. Have my fingers in my ears and saying La-La-La-La over and over....way too many fo on hand to look at black friday sales....

Give me a medal or something!  I resisted and didn't order from AAA!  A bargain isn't such a bargain when you don't need what is on sale.  :)

My Nature's Garden order is coming today, however.  But I REALLY wanted those scents and I actually NEEDED 2 of them.

I must confess, I caved.  I would repent, but I'm not really sorry.  Nature's Garden never has sales (except for a select number of 1 oz samples).  I really did need some more Vanilla and Cinnamon, honest!

So then I had to buy 3 more to get the $1.00 off each candle if you buy 5 or more. That plus the 10% off was a pretty good deal.  All 5 are new scents for me; some I had smelled and really wanted when I went to their store in October.

But! I have emptied seven 16 oz bottles in the past week or so.  I should have room now for 5 more.  :)

I agree about renaming the Harvest ones. I want to rename Autumn Leaves from CW because it just smells so good and it has a fruity, cinnamon, Patchouli scent to it that I think could pass for a Christmas scent or Winter one. I might use one of the above scent names for it, just not sure which one would fit.

Which above names?  I changed one of my spicy ones to Welcome Home because I didn't like the name.  I'm thinking about changing Celtic Moonspice because what in the world does spice have to do with a Celtic Moon? But it does sound kind of designer or something.

I had a little Holiday Spices from Bert (heaven Scent) probably 10 years old.  I blended it with a spice fragrance and named it Home for Christmas because Holiday Spices was kind of generic to me.

@Sarah S, I love those names! I was looking to rename Autumn Leaves from CW because it has a Christmas/Winter smell to me too. @kfintoni, why do you want to rename it? I always thought woolen blanket was a comforting name.

I like the name Woolen Blanket too. Also like Flannel Sheets although I haven't bought either yet.

I need to rename Apple Harvest and Amish Harvest because the harvest  season is so brief. :)

  9. @Dreamer, I can almost smell those horrible scents, you describe them so well. HALITOSIS?!!!!!  WHY?

You getting paid to take mail inside the stinky cat house brought back a memory.  A lady paid me to take her to the store back in the 70's.  I forget what people called her, Stinky lady or something like that.  She smelled so bad, I didn't want people to know I was with her in the store.  Now that's a nice Christian attitude.  Just like Jesus.  :)

  10. Fragrance Buddy typically has a BF sale.  The best % off of any company.  I am not buying anything though, until I run through some of the 264 scents I have.  I have emptied 4 bottle in the past week, so that's a start.  Including one from Bert (Heaven Scent) that I bought 10 years ago.  Can't believe FO's stay good that long but most do.

  11. This thread was fun to read through again.  You all were so creative at describing the FO's you hated.  :)  Makes me want to steer clear of them.  I bought some Sweetgrass many years ago from an individual.  I thought it was nice and liked burning my candle.  Until my niece said it smelled like a porta potty.  That did it for me.  :)

But reading this thread was bittersweet because it made me miss Trappeur.  :(

I'm with Gail.  My buyers aren't luxury candle buyers so I try to keep my costs as reasonable as possible.  For small candles....9oz or less....I keep my container cost under $1.  Larger candles have a bit more leeway, but not much.  I don't buy expensive containers because my market won't go for the higher product cost.  I've tried.

That said, there are awesome deals to be found on containers if you really get out there and look.  I'm currently working with a 33+ oz. container with a wood lid that only cost $1.50/ ea.  My profit margin will be really good on these.

1.50 for a 33 oz container is awesome.  One of my best jar deals was getting 10 oz (wax weight) jars with rustic lids for $1.00 each from The Candlemaker's Store.  First I bought 3 or 4 dozen and had them shipped.  Then drove 2 1/2 hours almost and got about 10 dozen more.  Customers love them.  Wish I had gotten more at the time. Later looked online for some more, but the lid itself cost more than the jar with lid deal I got.
