I must be honest, I'm not a fan of the scent but my clients love it so I make it for them.  As for Christmas Hearth, I may have to give that a go!

Well I hope some of my customers love it.  It seems if a customer likes one unique, out of the ordinary scent (that I don't care for), she likes all of them.  :) So I know at least one person who may buy This Old House candles.

What are your favorite christmas scents?  Now that I am lerning to make 8 oz tin candles i want to send something  to my family members in Ohio for Christmas, that is if I am able to make a good candle by then.

I like Christmas Splendor and Victorian Christmas from Aztec.  My favorite may be Main Street Christmas from Rustic Escentuals.

  3. @ellajoan, I am terrible at coming up with names. This is  probably not what you're looking for, but I thought of Old Hickory when I read Hickory & Suede.  I had to look up who was called Old Hickory.  It was Andrew Jackson. because he was "as unbending as a tree, but also tough as wood."

Either than or a cowboy's name.  :)  You know all rugged and masculine like the Marlboro Man.   I'd pick up and smell a candle named Sam Elliott.  :D

Hi Gail!  Unfortunately, that's the same description used by Tennessee Candle Supply.  I agree with you that there is more to the scent than just those notes.  I smell a woodsy type note in the background so perhaps the cedar is what is.  It's like the apple, gingerbread, and cinnamon are baking in a wood cabin.

Thanks! I wondered what Tennessee's description was.  That's weird.  Suppliers usually have more accurate scent descriptions.  Love the way you describe it! "Baking in a wood cabin". Exactly.  And that's why I didn't use it for years.  Just don't care for the smoke smell.

But I did just buy Candlescience's Christmas Hearth.  I had a smaller bottle years ago, and it is my sister's very favorite fragrance.  I do like its scent better than This Old House.

  5. I never heard of Dream Vessels until an ad appeared on my Facebook feed.  My daughter LOVES anything rose gold so I ordered two designs to make candles for her for Christmas. They won't ship until around Oct 8.

I had a hard time choosing; they are all so lovely. They are too expensive for me to use for customers though.

There was a 10% off code  on the Facebook ad: FLASHSALE10

  6. I bought this FO over 4 years ago and am finally going to use it.  Wasn't sure if I liked it, so it languished on the shelf.

I'm confused about Fragrance Buddy's scent description: warm apple, hot ginger, and cinnamon. But I smell more.

Scent descriptions from other companies mention eucalyptus and cedar.

I researched this FO on this forum and some have said that it's the same as Tennessee's This Old House.  If you have used this FO from any company, how would you describe the fragrance for customers?

  7. I just checked and it's out of stock right now, but I like Hot Buttered Rum from Candlewic.  I thought it smelled week OOB and even when I poured candles.  But once I lit it; I was pleasantly surprised.

Of course, my recommendation doesn't do you any good right now since it's out of stock.  :)

    Thanks for all these recommendations!

Are there any fall scents from flaming candle that any of you recommend? I did get pumpkin pie but have not poured it yet. Palo santo is good from flaming as well, just a really nice masculine scent good for all year round.

just poured Aztecs leaves for the first time. This one seems good and strong.🌸

Chai from Flaming Candle is a best seller for me.  Trappeur recommended it and said she called it Cinnamon Chai, so I do too.

I like their Pumpkin Spice Latte too, good coffee scent.

Gail, I have in my cart Pumpkin Latte from RE but I really want to find that perfect coffee with pumpkin type blend. Would you recommend perhaps blending in a pumpkin spice or something sweeter like a Pumpkin Vanilla?

If you want it to smell more pumpkiny, I'm sure either of those would work.  I have so many Pumpkin fragrances, I like this one for the coffee smell.

Haha, I’ve played the cart game too, adding, deleting items to get the perfect shipping price. I’ve ordered from js recently but did not notice the statement from above, wonder if it’s newer. These are challenging times! 🌸

I do that all the time. Sometimes adding one more case of jars makes the shipping go way up.

I always buy enough FO's to justify the shipping.  Add the cost of the FO's and shipping, then divide by how many bottles to get cost per bottle.  Just can't buy one or two bottles

When my customers want an order shipped, I explain that I can ship 1-3 candles or 4-6 candles for the same shipping cost.  Not that I'm trying to get them to buy more candles, but it's just not worth it to pay more for shipping than the price of the candle. (I use regional rate A and B boxes)

All that being said, $20 is a ridiculous cost for a few one ounce samples.  They could ship them in a flat rate envelope for $7.75.

  11. Pumpkin Caramel Crunch from Candlescience is really good.  Also Pumpkin Cupcake and Pumpkin Sugared Donut from Fragrance Buddy.  My favorite coffee fragrance is Spiced Pumpkin Latte from Rustic Escentuals, but I really don't smell much pumpkin.

Same!!! I've been wanting to ask! Also: what is Peak? I know it's a vendor but when another vendor sels a scent and says, "Scented Scent  Example" by Peak®....what does that mean? By Peak? A dupe? I guess I need to know what/who Peak is first! And then all the other abbreviations. Thanks in advance!

Years ago when I started making candles, I had to rely on that abbreviation list a lot.  Plus I learned what FO, OOB, HT and CT meant.  :)

  13. As you know, it takes much longer now to get an order from suppliers. I'm trying to learn to be patient.

I am happy to report that I ordered some fragrance oils (and got free shipping with $100.90 order) late last night from Cierra Candles, and my order is on its way!  Now I don't know how long the post office will take to get it here, but Cierra did its part. Same day shipping!

Speaking of the Post Office, I shipped an order to Arizona on July 15. It arrived in Tucson on July 18, only about 50 miles from its final destination.  On July 22, it arrived at NEW ORLEANS, LA. What??? Finally made it to my customer on July 24.  Thank goodness I packed the candles well.  I asked my cousin if they arrived in one piece and he said they could have fallen from a plane and still been in one piece.  :)

I placed an order from them.  They have some good prices!  Even before the discount.  I may have found a new supplier.  (like I needed another one )    :)

I know what you mean about new suppliers.  Geez. I ordered 3 from Muddy Soap Company a couple of months ago or so.  Some of the names of their fragrances drew me in.

I think you'll be pleased with FB.  They have 4 or 5 sales a year.  I wish I could buy all my FO's from them, but nooo.  I also am placing an order with Nature's Garden because I need some from there that FB doesn't carry.  Besides, when I find a scent that customers and I really like, sometimes I'm afraid to order that scent from another company.  Why mess with success?  :)

I just made some Salted Caramel from FB and oh, it smells so good.
