  1. Hi there, I am making tart gift baskets for xmas this year. I will be putting one combo tart warmer and then a sampling of holiday/fall scents. How do you keep the scents separate? I don't want the baskets to smell nasty or overpowered from so many different scents. I was thinking about making 2 packs of each scent and including up to 8 packs...so 1 lb of tarts in each basket. Any ideas of how to package the tarts so people could open to smell the different scents, but not mix too much? Thanks in advance. Jamie
  2. Oh on my internet I just had to click "translate" and it was in English. He gives out a recipe of the week too. I don't do soap, but his are gorgeous.
  3. Well the tart wax is different because I can't use the container wax for tarts. I don't mind doing wick testing, but I guess my question is...when do you decide that the HT is not good because the wax doesn't throw well or that it doesn't throw well because of the wick? How do you sort this out? When would you look into a different wax? The wax I am using is not used by very many people on this board...at least I can't find much on it in a search.
  4. Hey. I have tested J60 and Acu Para 30 (parasoy) in a 2.5-3 inch jar. Tried some different wicks. I have been doing 6% FO and some liquid dye. Just haven't been too impressed with the HT. CT has been just fine. Is it even realistic to have a candle throw as much as a tart with the same % FO? The tarts smell up my whole house pretty much. I haven't tested in a while because I was kind of discouraged with this. Don't really want to do all the testing of wicks if the HT isn't good anyways. I know wick can affect the HT though. I was considering trying a different wax like the Comfort or Harmony blend. It's also easier to find wicking help and info on these waxes, which is a plus. Any thoughts?
  5. Apparently IGI recommends HTP from what I read. I am wanting to try this wax too and was going to order the HTP wicks with it. Ahh need more mulah.
  6. Hey Holly, Nice site. You live by me. I am in Spokane, WA. Who do you use to buy your wax and supplies?
  7. Ooh I have seen your site before while I was looking at Etsy. I think it's pretty user friendly, but I would personally like to see the second scroll bar eliminated. You know how on the pages you have the buttons stay put and the other stuff you can scroll down separetly? This is quite annoying to me when using it because I try to use my scroll button to look at the lower part of the page and then all the stuff in the middle just moves. It seems like I would have to scroll down on the main page anyways to get to the second bottom scroll button, so it doesn't seem like it does much good. I love your pics and your candles look great.
  8. Do you have to do a repour on 1 oz tarts with the 4795?
  9. Does the KY para soy wax for tarts pop out of the tart warmer easily? Thanks.
  10. http://www.indiebeautynetwork.com/ The indie beauty network provides insurance with their membership...I think the membership plus the insurance comes to $545 per year. This one you can insure pretty much anything handmade. Can do just candles with this one too. The Soapers Guild http://www.soapguild.org/ Costs less, but they require that you have some sort of soap in your line. You can insure candles, but not JUST candles with this one. I think this one is $480/year. The soap in your line has to be avaliable but does not have to account for a certain percent of sales. HTH. Jamie
  11. Thank you all for your opinions. I chose #2...and when it is big I think the logo stands out better. It's shown very small here. Again, I appreciate your input. Jamie
  12. That's the votive blend isn't it? I think that would work fine. I used that wax to make chunks. I poured it into cookie sheet and then let it set but while it was still warm I cut it into small squares with a pizza cutter, then once they cooled most of the way I poped them out.
  13. Ya know, really do you ask each and evey customer about health problems of the people in their home? Anyone who is on Oxygen is educated by their doctor/ home health that they cannot have flames around it...that being said we have all seen or heard of people who smoke while on oxygen. I don't know...I just think you are a candle maker, not a doctor and cannot be held responsible for your customer's health problems. Who are you to say if she should or should not burn a candle? You don't know how severe her condition is or even IF she is on oxygen. That's my thought on it. We are all responsible for our own health. It's not like we would have a health questionaire for each person wanting to purchase a candle from us. Just my opinion here of course and sounds like you have already taken care of this issue with the customer. Jamie
  14. Tootie- That's exactally why I am asking here. I have already found people on google and etsy both. But I would rather go with someone I know I can trust who has actually tested their product.
  15. I am currently trying another jar because I don't want to double wick. I will probably use these jars for glass glow and double wick them. I will see.
  16. I am looking for someone who makes and sells a quality glass glow candle that I can try. Any suggestions?
  17. The wax in the warming bowl doesn't evaporate...only the scent. That's what I learned here anyways.
  18. Wow, sounds time consuming. They are pretty candles though.
  19. Wow Stella...thanks for all the great info. I am covering mine with a box to cool...wouldn't that constantly opening it to cut another circle let all the heat out and affect the crystalization?
