  1. That is exactly what I do too, including wiping out between pours.
  2. Glad it wasn't worse and I'm sure you are too! I once left the house for what I thought was 5 mins. to pick up DH from work, I had the table set for a surprise romantic dinner with a candle labra (?sp) and about 10 other candles but ended up being gone more than 30 mins. Thank God it was only a ruined table cloth instead of a torched house!Duh, What was I thinking??
  3. Have they moved cause on the website it says Ohio, not Oregon? If they are in Ohio it makes it much closer than Oregon for me here in Florida.
  4. I am sorry that the shop worker was not considerate and was unprofessional in trying to promote another product at your expense!! I know that a lot of small home based candle makers make great quality tarts & candles at a better price than Scentsy! The one thing Scentsy does have that I wish we could buy is their very unique warmers. Where in the heck do they get all those great looking warmers & plug in's and we only have a very limited choice from our manufactures?!
  5. Find a tart wax, KY Candle supply has a para/soy blend that is nice, buy some 1oz fragrance oils, some candle colorants (I use liquid from Tenn. candle supply), a scale, a presto pot (you can get one at walmart) and some glass measuring cups, a ladle and spoons you only use for candle making and some fluted tart forms (you can get these at Bed, Bath & Beyond) or you can get some foil cupcake cups from KY too. Melt your wax per instructions for your wax in the presto pot , ladle out 16oz of wax into the measuring cup on top of the scale, put in colorant, stir well, pour in 1oz of FO, stir well 1-2 mins , pour into tart forms per temp recommended for the wax you are using, let cool completely, package and cure for 1-2days to a week, put in a tart warmer and enjoy. You can also buy a tart making kit just look at the different candle making companies and see who sells one. I know Peaks sell a few candle making kits.
  6. Beautiful soaps! I hope your DH is doing better. I have a bunch of EO's but am afraid to blend them as I might make a poo-poo scent and then I wasted my precious EO's.
  7. That look really cool Babs! I like it a lot.
  8. If your taking a diuretic don't forget to keep your potassium up. Eat a banana everyday and lots of green veggies. Also juicing celery or eating it raw helps lower your B/P.
  9. Beautiful soaps Rae!!! Love them all!!
  10. I'm sorry you had that happen to you, especially when you need to get an order out. Hopefully they will ship it 2 day air to you on Monday.
  11. The Lye guy does not list a phone number but I happen to have his number. 315.676.3085
  12. I made almond soap recently and put one almond nut on the top of each soap, but told the people I gave it to that they should remove the nut before using. It looked cute and would be easy to remove, but I'm not sure I'll go through the trouble next time. I do at times like to used pureed veggies or fruit zest in my soap and have not had any trouble with mold.
  13. You do beautiful work! I'd bet you could sell those to knit shops for a good profit. I know I'd buy one.
  14. I had paid for my molds and sent about 7 emails before I sent one that said I would report her. She didn't contact me till the last one. I did order two more times and although it took a long time I did get them. Last time I talked with Rita she said they were moving. Not sure if that is the problem.
  15. I don't know why I can't edit my previous post but what I meant by legal was telling them that if they refused to answer my emails regarding my paid for molds that I would report them to the BBB. Any company who takes money for a product and doesn't respond to inquires or mail the item is stealing and I don't take lightly to that.
  16. Gee that stinks! I wonder what the problem is? Have you sent an email that says something like you are gonna report her to the BBB? I'm sorry to say but the first time I ordered from her I had a similar problem and had to get legal with her before she answered my email. She said she didn't get the other emails. Pure crap but I did get my molds. I was thinking about another 12 bar but now I think I just contact SoapHutch.
  17. Everyone has different tastes. I personally would never buy the food looking tarts. They are cute but I would pass them right by. I prefer the plain tarts as they are usually cheaper than the fancy ones and they are going to melt anyway. What would sell me everytime is the cold & hot throw and ease of removal from the tart burner. From your description the only thing that I wouldn't like is it being sticky.
  18. What I dislike is you must make a custom mold. I would rather have a number of choices to choose from cause although I may like the mold I have from another company, I might like something else if I knew the dimensions.
  19. All very beautiful soaps!! I can't pick a favorite.
  20. Is there a name on the mold? Is it silicone or plastic?
  21. MAN!! How many did you do in one day?!! They are all fantastic!! Can't say I like one more than the other, just kept saying I like that one and that one and.........! I've never smelled any of those scents except lavender but they sound really nice.
  22. Those came out great! Where did you get the teddy bear mold from?
