  1. well Here's just something I was messing with this morning. It would be folded in the middle. any thoughts?
  2. Trapeur, Thank you so much for your input and for the pictures also. On the pictures I posted above the Larger of the 2 tags (purple background) is the size of a business card the Smaller (white background) is 1 3/8 high x 2 1/2 long so when folded in half is 1 3/8 x 1 1/4. I'll keep trying.
  3. I can try to make the tag a bit smaller. I'm afraid if I go much smaller the wording will run together. The "info" lettering we are going to change from Purple to Black. The "scent" lettering we are going to try to match the candle. As for art work on the front.... I dont want to over-do it. I dont know if putting the website and jar size on the back would make a difference. I'll try and see if we like it.
  4. I want to thank all of you who commented on the tags I posted earlier. Once we read your input we put the info together and agreed with alot that was said. We are trying to make something here at home to keep costs down. So it's trial and error. (mostly error) I'm posting some new pics of the modified tag. This goblet is our main concern right now since there is no way to put a lable on it that would look good. The yellow candle is with the proper tag. The brown candle has the original tag on it. As you can see it's smaller and we did away with alot of the color. The final photo is of the complete tag before it is cut and folded. Again I would appreciate any comments. I'm hopefully getting closer to something that is usable. I know that we can't please everyone. And Thanks in advance!
  5. The beads are new also. Here's a pic of the old lable.
  6. Well we've been working on a new lable. We've been giving some thought to a tag tied to each container. I'm posting some pics for your input. My wife likes them the way they are, and I think they need something to make them "pop". What do you all think. It's a folded lable with all the info on one side and just a Logo/pic on the other. Of course the Scent will go with the right candle, these are just a sample. The candles that are shown are a 6oz Goblet Scented Manderin Mango, and the other is a 10oz Victorian Scented Hersheys Chocolate
  7. We use mold cleaner on a paper towel to clean out pour pots out. It's quick and leaves no residue.
  8. We've sold quite a few for mothers day. Also 1 for a Bride.
  9. That is really cool. Would work really well with the Antique Engine and Tractor clubs I belong to.
  10. Yes that's one I remember seeing. I'm also looking for how to get the insert to stick to the glass wall and not have the poured wax seep between the two.
  11. I'm having a hard time remembering.... I know I saw acouple of threads on here that showed hearts or stars stuck to the side of glass containers then the wax poured in. My question is How do you stick the insert to the glass so that the wax doesnt get between it and the glass. I have someone who wants his kids initials in orange and the rest of the candle in one color or another.
  12. That is awsome. I love the background to it. Where'd you find it?
  13. Well hello to all. Just thought I'd post some pics of Gift Baskets we are going to offer. These shown are our Easter/Mothers Day Baskets. I'm not much of a decorator so please excuse the crudeness of the pics*hiding* :embarasse .
  14. I'd have the wife hold it. I wouldn't get burned at all!
  15. 37 and sunny here in Canastota NY. But still making candles. Got Jasmine and Raspberry Chocolate Drizzle going at the moment. (house smells good)
  16. We'll we know how you feel. We constantly hear though that they cant believe we charge so little. But we cant see charging more on some of our candles. Our biggest seller (pictured) is 4oz Frosted jar, and we sell it for $4.00 Would anyone actually pay more than $4-$5.00 for a candle like this? You can never tell. I belong to Antique clubs and go to shows around the country. At some of these shows you could put a $100.00 bill out with a $0.25 price tag and it wont sell. then other years or shows you could put a $100.00 price tag on a quarter and people would stand in line for them. The buying public dictates selling points and price.
  17. The jarstore.com and lonestarcandlesupply.com has good deals
  18. those are so cool!! I'd Love to find them. Too bad there's not a way to "google" a picture
  19. There's a Renaissance Fair in Sterling NY that we go to every year and there's a guy who does this kind of thing right there. All hand made, no molds, just his hands, a knife, a metal plate, and heat source. It's amazing to watch. We've bought Dragons, Unicorns, Wizards, and Castles from him. But he makes so much more and mounts them on different things, like drift wood or mossy branches.
  20. Well I'll try to explain this and hope it comes across. We've had a few issues now that we cant explain and dont rightly know what's going on. We have a 8 oz Bail wire jar that has been having a wick issue. The wick is moving to one corner. We've had 4 occurances of this now. The wick tab is still attatched to the bottom in the center. The wick is in the center at the top, but as they burn, the wick burns to a corner. We are using a Paraffin Veg blend wax CI-123 is the number on the box, and Yaleys medium bleached wick # N/110164. this is a non cored wick. We have had no issues like this with any other container, and the only difference in wick is that our small and large wicks have a zinc wire core. The only thing that I can think of is that my wife may be taking the wick bar off too soon and as the wax continues to cool it is pulling the wick off to one side. Any Other suggestions of what may be happening, or ways to solve this little dillema? Second problem to ask for help with is from my nephew again. He's having problems with his wicks falling over into the melt pool and getting covered over by the wax. He's using Yaleys Wicks also and none of his are zinc wire cored. Could this be his problem? He says his melt pool is alitlle over 1/4 inches deep but not quite 1/2 inch deep. he's using 6oz and 10 oz Victorian jars from Lonestar candle company. Any help for either of us will be greatly appreciated. First picture is of our 8oz Bale wire jar we are having issues with. 2cd pic is of the 6 and 10oz jars my nephew is having issues with. (well ok the pic is of our jars, but he uses the same ones.)
  21. When we get new wax, weather it is in flakes or slabs, we melt it down and pour it into 1 lb bricks, using mini bread pans. then when we go to make candles, we know what we are going to make and how much wax it will take and we just grab enough bricks to do the job. makes storage real easy too. they stack nicely in a tote or a box.
  22. Just wondering how many of you have your own web sites that show your candles off and advertise candles for sale. I'm working on one for my wife now. It's a work in progress.
  23. I know. We havent been happy with yaleys scents, we've switched to Lonestar. But he's young and moneys tight for him. I'll see what more info I can get from him.
