  1. A gallon is 128 ounces, not 16. You can get 32 four ounce bottles out of that, not the 4 you're figuring
  2. I use Mulled Cider from Snowtop. I love it!
  3. I do only tarts. Well I do B&B stuff too, but no candles. I'm able to do very well on just the tarts. I too don't want to get into the wicking, testing nightmare that I hear so much about. Testing B&B stuff drives me crazy enough...I don't need to add candles into that mix! LOL
  4. I've only tried one liquid candle dye but that's exactly what it smelled like- moth balls and fuel! It came in a plastic bottle and the odor from that bottle seemed to escape. I accidentally left it on the top of the microwave once and the bread that was next to it tasted like that stuff smelled. Not a pretty thing when you weren't expecting it :embarasse I only used it once before trashing it, but the smell of it didn't come through in my product.
  5. Thanks for everyone's help! I'll have to play around and see what I can come up with. In the meantime, if anyone every runs across this...let me know! It's driving me completely crazy!!!
  6. Anyone know where to find this FO? A customer has asked me to make something for her in that scent and I can't seem to locate it anywhere. I've looked at every FO supplier I know of...any help would be appreciated! Thanks
  7. I've used SOS for a few Yankee Duplications. They were all the regular concentration. I've tried their Sunwashed Linen, Fresh Comfort, Wedding day and Wild Pansies. They're all dead on duplications and throw very well for me in 4794. The Sunwashed Linen is so strong that it gags me and gives me a headache.
  8. I just ordered a sample of this yesterday. Sounds interesting and I can't wait to get it. Looking forward to seeing what everyone has to say about it!
  9. Millcreek has a fresh fruit slices that smells exactly like Peaks' fruit slices. They both preform the same way for me as well.
  10. I saw these at Hobby Lobby last week. May not have been the same brand but they were the same concept. The wax isn't scented. I guess they sell small bottles of FO with it and you're supposed to drop the oil around the wick before lighting...which doesn't seem all that safe to me:shocked2:
  11. I make this. I use a 75/25 mix of borax and baking soda though. The borax seems to help it sprinkle a lot better than just straight baking soda. The only warning I put on it is to not use it on damp carpet. HTH!
  12. Thanks for all the help!! I tried some of the suggestions and now have a lip balm that isn't grainy!! I ended up using the same base, and just put them in the fridge immediately after they were cooled and they're not grainy now! Thanks so much for the suggestions!
  13. I recently decided to venture into the world of bath and body stuff, to add to my candle/home fragrance line. I decided to start testing with some simple (ha ha!) lip balm base. I got the soy lip balm base from the Chemistry Store. My finished product is very grainy. Its not grainy in the jar from them. I used 5% flavor oil (from Sweet Cakes) to 2.25 oz of base. Can any one tell me how to get rid of the grainy-ness? I just heated it until it was melted, never checked a temperature or anything, mainly because I couldn't find any guidelines for temps anywhere. Does it need to be heated to a certain temp? Poured at a certain temp? Also, when it cools, it seems to be tunnelling down the center. If I top them off, does it work the same way it does with candles where I'll have to pour at a hotter temp than before to get the layers to bind together? Any help that anyone can provide would be great. The "grains" seem to melt once on the lips, but it definitely doesn't feel good going on!
  14. I package mine in 3X3 polypro zip bags. Polypro is okay, just not polyethylene. I get mine through VeriPack.
