Actually I was thinking of doing something similar- I was going to try not coloring my soy candles and adding small bits of herbs or dried flower petals- I thought if it was coated with the wax it would not burn- was I wrong?
Test burned the Orange Chiffon Cake made with GW444 after 19 hours cure time - Scent throw was good and had 1/4 in. melt pool after 2hrs. I like this wax but checked Millcreek's site and it is much more expensive than the 415 plain soy. I am happy with 415 so don't see enough difference to change.
Yesterday I poured GW444 used 16oz wax using 1oz Orange Chiffon Cake F/O form Snowtop with 5 drops yellow and 2 drops red liquid clolor using a 60c wick. I heated to 180- added F/O at 175 then added color. Poured in jras at 125-(two 8 oz jelly jars) got smoooth tops- no sink holes no frosting- good scent in cooled jars will test burn after they have cured and post results.
I recieved a call from Jason today but was not home. He told my hubby my samples would arrive next week. It so refreshing to get such a prompt response. I think Golden Brands has got a very good employee in this young man!
Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I am fairly new to candle making- did not know about the chips- just the blocks and liquid. Thanks for telling me about them!
I have used plain 415 soy from another company and love it. Tried Cargill's C-3 and had so many problems with it! I use a lot of Millcreek's F/O. Now I know that they carry the same wax I have been using I can get it all from one place! Thanks
Thanks for the info- sink holes are the most frustrating thing about soy wax- if you melt the sink holes with a heat gone then major frosting occurs. If this will help I certainly will try it.
I agree with Steve- nice smooth tops except for the sink holes. Correcting the sink holes with a heat gun creates major frosting- got tired of trying to correct these things every time I poured so now I am using what I have left for non colored candles only!
