  1. :smiley2:I called a supplier to order some FO and inquired about what amounts you had to use in C3 soy. They told me that they did not know but with the wax they sell you have to use 1.5 oz. I then asked who the manufacturer was and they told me that they were not able to give out that info. Why what is the big deal? Also is this normal to have to use 1.5 oz. I have used 1 oz and had it come out on top of my wax. I realize some oils are stronger than others but she said all of there oils. Thanks from a confused Joy:(
  2. Thank you Stella for your explanation it is appreciated and thanks for the sites also!!
  3. Boy I sure have a lot of questions lately. I am looking order more colors of dye. I now use the stinky liquid kind. Stella told me that JBN sells the liquid dyes that have no odor. I would like to know before I order anything what the advantage is of one over the other?? :undecided

  5. Hi, I am making votives using 4794. After I pour my votives and they cool they are sunk down in the middle. So I had saved some of the wax for a re pour. Well after I removed the votives from the mold the top part is a different color than the bottom. What is the reason? Thanks it seems every time I make something I have a problem.

  8. Wow I can't believe how fast you all can work. I can only work with 1 lb. of wax at a time I could never keep up with any of you. I guess it is a good thing that I don't want a business doing this or I would not make any money!
  9. how would you do this for 1 lb of wax? I mean how much cinn. and how much vanilla. I have never done mixing before!
  10. I have been wondering for some time now what they are. Can somebody please tell me? Also what is it that causes them? Thanks
  11. Please help me. :(I made two cranberry chutney scented candles with 4 oz. 4794 and 12 oz. C3. heated wax to 190 and poured at 150. I wicked the 8 sided 10 oz. jars with Eco 6 wicks. When I test burned the candle it just burned a hole down the middle. I figured this meant that the wick was too small. I melted the candles in oven and poured into the same size jar but this time with Eco 10. I could not wait to burn them because I love this scent. Well the same thing happened again! What is the problem? I thought that this happened when your wicks were too small.:mad:I don't know what to try next can someone please help me out here.:sad2:Oh I also put 3 drops of burgandy dye in.
  12. Hi, I love the smell of cinnamon and wondered if anybody can suggest a good strong cinnamon FO that throws good in soy wax. Thanks:) I have tried CS and found it not to be very strong.
  13. Does anybody use them for FOs and if so how do you like their FO's? :smiley2: I see a new scent they have called vanilla coffee and I am wondering if I should try it or not. There is no description though about it like they have for most of their other scents. Thanks, Joy
  14. I have tired twice now to make fire starters from my pine cones. I do not seem to be doing something right. The wax does not seem to build up on my cones. Will somebody please tell me what and how you are suppose to do it. I feel so dumb. I dipped my cone then dipped it again and again and the wax just seems to run off. Is there a certain temp. your wax should be at or what. I read about everybody doing it and I can't it is so frustrating. Thank you for your advice and help!!
  15. I am confused about soy waxes. I have read that you can pour at the slushy stage. Now is this for a certain soy wax or all of them? I want to order some soy but am not sure which to order. I want to make container candles. I have used Cargile C3 before but read that some of the new batches people have been getting bubbles with. I am rather new to all of this since I do it on and off and since my hives have finally banished I am starting all over again. Thanks for everyones input it really helps us not so experienced candle makers.
  16. I was just wondering if anybody buys their FOs from here and how they like the FOs. I see a couple there I would like to try but just would like to hear what others have to say about it.:smiley2: Thanks, Joy

  20. I too order most of my supplies from Candle Science and Diane has always been very helpful and patient with me too. I ask a lot of newbie questions too and she has been great with me. She may of just been having a real bad day which we all do sometimes, it is not an excuse but we all have been thorough it since we are all human!
  21. Just wondering what lids you can use on the dollar tree jars. They do look real nice but again what lids are you all using? Joy::smiley2:
  22. I thought I had posted this last week but can not seem to find it. Can somebody please tell me how to go about making good homemade potpourri. I have tried reading up on it but get confused as to what they are saying to do. I need step by step directions. I am interested for example in making cinnamon scented, or pine for the fall but do not understand when they say to ex. (used dried orange rind )does this mean a rind that has been sitting around for a long time after you peeled your orange or does it mean dried in a dehydrator? Please if someone has the patience and has done this before could you please direct me how. Thank you!
  23. I have made a pine cone wreath which turned out really nice. You can buy the round wire wreath shaped rings in a craft store and then I just wired all the different sizes and shapes on to the ring. I filled in the little open areas with moss or what ever else you might want. I had my husband then spray it with I don't remember what it was but it made it shine very nice. I am sure they can tell you what to use at the craft store it has been a while since I did this. I have it hanging up and for each season I put a different bow on it that I made. Hope this might help you. :smiley2:
