I purchased 4 sizes of tea light wicks from CS. The sizes are 13, 15, 18, and 21. I am using 4794 wax. Now please correct me if I am wrong but I thought that the larger wick being the 21 that it should burn faster right than the others. Well 5 times it has been the slowest one and I do not understand. I spoke to somebody at CS thinking maybe they were packaged wrong. I was told that was impossible. Can somebody please explain to me what might be going on. I am not very experienced in all of this but from what I have read I thought the larger the wick the faster the burn and if the wick is too small it will just go out or either burn a hole in the center. Now the 21 wick the flame is much smaller than the other 3 sizes also which confuses me also. Any advice or suggestions for me would be greatly appreciated. :smiley2: Thanks

:)Hello I see that candlewic is having a sale on their 1 oz size fo's. I was wondering since I have never purchased any from them how do people like their scents? I usually use candle science and peaks. Thanks

yes but it is not just the area right wear I pour the wax it covers a much larger area than one of those mats would.

Yes Stella I do not make candles in the back section and I really don't make a lot of candles either. Not like you all do. I mainly make tarts because I have not had the time with working to master the wick problems yet. Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it I will try what you said and hopefully have no more problems.:)I am grateful to you for answering my questions it is nice to have somebody to count on!!

:)Hi everybody I have a really weird problem here. All of a sudden my basement floor has become very slippery! In the back section it is not and I was wondering if anybody has experienced this and is it from melting wax for candles?? I don't know what else could have caused this but don't know why just melting wax in a presto pot could make this happen. My dogs can't even walk fast with out their legs coming out from under them. Please if anyone has experienced this let me know and what to do to resolve it.:waiting:Thanks:smiley2:

I don't sell them just playing around for fun and sometimes it is not always fun!! Wish I had more time to get better at it but I guess I will have to wait. Thanks for your reply. Glad your happy to be back in Va. I am from Western and would love to be back there.

Hello I was just wondering:confused: if anybody can recommend where to purchase good tea lights. I used to buy them (100/bag) from Bed, Bath & Beyond but they have really gone down hill as far as I am concerned. They do not even look the same anymore and sink in the middle. I remember when they were $4.00/ bag and now they are $5. I would not mind if they burned like they should. I have had many that do not even have wicks in them and others that just go out for no reason. It really annoys me that they cheapened them so. I think they are made by Colonial Candle Co. if I remember correctly. Has anybody else that buys from them noticed this? I am in Va but am quite sure that they would be the same nation wide. Thanks:(

I know I asked this question back in either Dec. or Nov. but never got around to ordering so I forgot what you all said. I wanted to know if anybody has a good Balsam & Cedar FO that smells like Yankees'? I really like that scent all year long and would love to order some now that I have the time to try to make some candles that might burn right for me. Thanks

Thank you everyone I was able to get most of it off with make up remover! -
I thought when you add fo it had to be at a higher temp. than 125, also with the soy waxes I have all the directions recommend heating higher than that in the first place. So he means the highest temp this was has to be brought up to is only 125 and the fo's will work fine being added at such a low temp?? I am still fairly new to all of this myself and find this confusing.

I work in a research lab at the UVA and our scales do what you are talking about. You can add a little of a chemical at a time and the scale will adjust. It also will adjust as you take a little off at a time, like you said if you add too much and go over your desired weight. I am thinking that the scales that you used in chemistry and I know the ones we use at the university are very expensive and accurate. We have to have them re calibrated ever year also. I guess the cheaper ones don't have all the fancy stuff. Just what I think though who knows!

Hello everyone,:smiley2: Maybe most of you know this already but I discovered today tart molds at Bed,Bath,&Beyond for 29 cents a piece. I have been getting mine from candle suppliers and these are just like the ones that I bought from Candle & Supplies for 49 cents a piece. I just thought I would post this in case somebody did not know this. I was very happy to find something cheaper. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Yankee candles are horrible. I have been buying them for years. I always buy after Christmas for the next year. I burned the ones I bought after Christmas last year and the large jars have wax all on the sides that is not burning and the votives are burning down the middle and I have them in the proper votive holders. I have been really upset with their quality and I am going to take all of these crappy candles back to the store and show them. How they can charge the prices they do and expect people to keep coming back is beyond me.

Soy wax wicking changes over time?
jwn6w replied to topofmurrayhill's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
Oh my gosh if you don't sound like me! I just use the term that I want to hang myself -
I had a soy candle in a little 292 ml jar it was C3. Well anyway as per usual it turned out with a lot of frost marks all over it and also I wicked it wrong so it was another of my flops. Well I figured I would just put it in the big candle warmer jigger ( you know the things you set your jars in and it just melts them and you don't need a wick) So after hours when it was fully melted I turned it off and forgot about the jar. The next day I picked the jar out to look at it and it looked beautiful no frost marks at all. Of course my wick was somewhere buried. I thought this was interesting and if only there was a way to do this to fix all the candles that have frosted. If I am correct though even if there was a way if you melt your candle all the way like and fix it you have lost a lot of your scent right?:confused:I just could not believe how nice it looked so I tried with another one of my flops and the same thing happened. I got my digital thermom and checked the temp of the wax when it was completely melted and it was 160 so I just thought I would share this for what it is worth!!:undecided

Boy do I feel stupid I asked this question months ago and then never got around to making anything so of course I did not order fo's and totally forgot that I asked this question. Sorry:(

Hello, What do you all think of their FOs and do they throw well in C3 and or GB464?:smiley2: Thanks

Can somebody please tell me what type and where you can order the bags to put tarts and votives in. I know that I read somewhere there is a certain type of bag that you should use so that the smell does not come out. Thank You so much:smiley2:

need to hear from the experienced

Stupid question i know but what is the fill line Stella? -
OK from all I remember reading :read:here the FO Amish Harvest from Peaks is suppose to be a heavy one with a strong throw right? So I made 2 jars the 291 ml Hex ones with 1 pound C3, 1 oz. FO, 1 Tablespoon USA, 3 drops brown CS dye. I used an ECO 10 wick. Heated to 185 and then poured at 160, cooled jars on cookie rack covered with a box. I could not wait to burn this, I was good and waited 1 week and how disappointed I am. There is hardly any throw at all!!! :mad:I have a 1/2" melt pool and it seems to be burning good but no nice scent that I was expecting. What do you think the problem might be??
