  1. No I did not do what you asked being new at all of this I did not even think about it. I just remembered reading somewhere to weigh it before you do your burn and then again after
  2. yes that is them I was just going to copy and paste that in and there you were!! I guess no body uses then eh?
  3. you mean nobody has ever bought from JD candle supply
  4. I tried pulling wicks out with plyers and they just broke off I could not do it, is there a trick?
  5. Has anybody used their fragrances and if so how were they. On there site it says premium soy oils, do they really work that well in soy? Also if you have used them do you find that you have to use 1oz or 1.5 oz in most cases? Thanks they have a maple syrup one I would love to try:grin2:
  6. I just want to say THANK YOU to all that gave me advice. It will help me now the next time I go to make some more candles. I have been getting very impatient lately, I am sure you all know that feeling but some can handle it better than others. I will surely try what you advised here. Joy
  7. Hi tootie, I appreciate you input and thank you very much. It just seems there is so much to try and do and I want to do it all.
  8. I have been trying to make candles but feel so scatter brained. When you first start out what do you suggest doing as far as testing a wax and scent. If you have a new wax and a scent you want to try how many jars do you pour of this to try it out. I mean I tried my GG palm with a vanilla scent and poured 3- 6.5 oz jars with 3 different size wicks. How do most people try out new stuff I feel as though I may be all wrong at what I am doing and that there might be a simpler or much better way. When testing wicks do you usually try several different types with your wax and scent or just one type? See what I mean I am so mixed up but that is nothing new. I go to get something in another room, get there and don't even know why I am there! Thank you. Joy Have a great week end everybody the weather here in VA is just beautiful and so are the leaves
  9. Well I called Lonestar and complained, I told them what happened and I just got a song and dance, they said that it worked well for them. I told them that the jar was even too hot to pick up and hold and that I got a melt pool in 45 minutes. I guess they don't care if the customer is satisfied or not. Last time I would purchase something there though!
  10. Thats what I thought but wouldn't you think since you bought the kit they would give you the right wicks? How are real beginners suppose to know they don't tell you! Thanks Stella
  11. Hi please help me I bought a soy kit from lonestar. It uses the nature C3, & a 2.5 inch jar. I forgot the brand of wick but my question is I used the wick they gave me with the kit, also the fragrance and color. I have been testing them and get a complete burn pool in 45 minutes. From what I read here correct me if I am wrong, with soy wax you should get a complete burn pool in a much longer time. 4-5 hours is this correct. For my size jar how long should it take for a complete burn pool. Oh I weighed my candle before I lit it and it weighed 10.5 oz. Thanks so much. Joy:confused:
  12. I have a dumb question but please bear with me, when you mix the two different waxes like you said here how do you know what temp. to add the fo and what temp to pour at?
  13. since I am new to all of this can all the soy waxes be poured when they are slushy or just certain ones? If it is just certain ones which are they. I have cargile C3 and it says nothing about pouring when slushy. Thanks to all who respond I feel so incompetent sometimes.:embarasse
  14. Thank you for the instructions I will have to give that a try

  16. thanks again for answering you answered my other question about tarts too. Will using a heat gun get rid of what I described here?
  17. thanks a lot I guess I will have to wait a while now since money is so tight. I just bought 60lbs. of 4794 because she told me at Candle Science how good it was. Oh well now I am stuck it is a good thing I am just doing this for me and friends.
  18. I made some soy candle this evening from a kit and 2 of the six near the wick have a little cave in it looks as though somebody pushed down on it. What is the cause of this and what should I do to fix it. Is this when you use the heat gun that I have read about? Also how long do you let them cool before you put the cover on them overnight? Thank you for you help! Boy this is very complicated stuff here I thought it was going to be more simple. You need to have a not of patience and I need to learn more.
  19. I have made tarts for the first time using IGI 4794 and the tarts look very rippley on top. Is this normal the only other time I have made tarts is using palm wax. I also made a couple of tealights and they sunk way in the middle. What should I do to avoid these problems? Please help I am new at all of this! Thank You Joy:sad2:
