  1. It really depends on what you want to use. I use clays that I got from NDA, oxides and ultramarines from Southern Soapers, neons from TKB and for some Select Shades from Tradewinds. Just depends on what type of colorants you are leaning towards. HTH
  2. Southern Soapers carried it last time I looked but if you have a TSC (Tractor Supply Co.) nearby, they carry it there. It'll be in the horse section, in a can and will say 100% pine tar. HTH
  3. I don't think it's the ph that causes the burning and I don't think it will make a difference with the oils. Soap in the eye will burn any way you do it. I think the tearless stuff is tearless more for what they add to it. HTH
  4. I agree. Even lining other you have a chance for leakage and it could potentially cause problems.
  5. I make salt bars all the time and in the middle of the summer at the farmers market when the humidity is high they will actually create a puddle on the table. They pull the moisture from the air. Just the nature of the beast.
  6. My avi has the blue and green neons in it just to give an example.
  7. Yep, unfortunately further away from me. I plan to pick up my next order though since it will be 600-700 lbs of oils. Still will be cheaper than shipping them.
  8. I noticed this smell in all of the neon colors I have used from them. My DH came over to smell it and said "that's neon". I guess neon spray paint has that same funky undertone. It did fade after cure but I swear I can still smell it...I think it's in my head.
  9. True. Especially if you are selling...you'll have some very unhappy clients if they start using it right away and it melts away. I have on occassion put a sticker on the back of the bars stating a "Do Not Use Before ??/??/??" Usually only if it's a week early or so.
  10. Yes they are awesome! I usually have my order the next day but I'm close. My next order I'm looking at ordering more than I used to (300-400lbs) so I may go pick it up depending on the price of shipping. I'm about an hour and a half to 2 hours away.
  11. I saw this yesterday too! I can't wait until it's available, it's on my list to order and try right away.
  12. Not enough water....too much water...hope her manufacturer gets it together soon. I have many customers that use this faithfully and I hate getting asked why it's different.
  13. I's say something's not right with it then. I use a hand mixer (with 1 beater) and whip it for a couple of minutes on max and it smooths out. I'd be ticked too since it's also my best seller! What about this one MoonGlow Candles Soy body whip?
  14. I've been using it for about 2 years now and the last batch I ordered did return to the old consistancy. For a while there it was smoother and not as thick but had more drag to it, I personally like the old way but that's what I'm used to. You seriously have to whip the snot out of it to get it to smooth out.
  15. I use the KY Soy Body cream, love it and sell it like crazy. Any FO with vanilla in it will turn brown. Not right away but it will. I sell 2 different sizes, a 2 ounce jar and a 4.5 ounce jar. The discoloration has not really been a problem for me...when a customer asks about it I tell them that I can add a vanilla stabilizer to it to help prevent that but that adds more chemicals to the mix. Not to mention that Warm Vanilla Sugar from B&BW is a tan/brown color. It's just the nature of the beast. The only scent that irks me when it discolors is Pink Sugar because I color it pink but it never stays. In most (if not all) cases, this is all they need to hear. Scents like Love Spell (pink), Cool Citrus Basil (green), and oatmeal milk & honey (white) stay true to color. I love the feel of the soy whip and if you can find a couple of nurses to try it out they will most likely be your best customers! I've sold about $250 worth in 2 orders, in the last month to a group of them at my local hospital and they usually end up fighting over the new scent samples I send in. HTH
  16. I ordered and have now used the clear base. It's blue-ish in the box and when you cut it but as soon as I melted it down it became very clear looking. I used colorants and they all came out true to color. Only thing I'm waiting on is the ingredients list...they should add that in the box when you order. Would make it easier for all. I will post them when I get them as I haven't seen the clear listed yet.
  17. I've emailed Soap Silly trying to find out about ordering the red but don't seem to get a response. Website says colors are the only thing they are offering but maybe not...
  18. That's just the thing with lotions and frankly why I chose to go with a base instead of making my own. You have to do the testing yourself to find out. From everything I studied up on you have to send it out to a lab to be tested for yuckies, decide on what you want to shoot for for shelf life...1 year..2 years, have it retested after that period. I'm sure some will say they make lotions and didn't do all of that, but if you want to do things properly this really needs to be done. I'm not the type of person to cut corners and risk everything I have due to a lawsuit. HTH
  19. I haven't tried her oils yet. I had a chance to meet her a couple of times and Brenda is very nice. She's friends with Kitty & Kerry from Kangaroo Blue, I'm sure they bounce stuff off of each other. Keep us posted if you try them.
  20. The original is a true sweet marshmallow scent without the toasted undertone. I don't know color wise about candles but it does discolor to a dark brown in B&B.
  21. Ahh, another good one! I think I've got some of that in the cabinet too.
  22. I also have 3. My regular, my omh with gm and an all veggie. I am a lard/tallow lover but have to keep a veggie option for those that don't do animal fats.
  23. Green Irish Tweed is what I was thinking too and I have that. I don't have the other one.
