  1. They are both in New Hampton , Iowa so maybe?
  2. charge for the samples. Even the big guys do, some of them offer samples a little lower than you would pay for their wholesale cost. When I was in the floral/gift industry most of the big guys would have small print in their catalog that would say testers are available at a reduced rate etc.
  3. Do you think frosted glass makes a difference vs clear glass as far as the burn goes??
  4. if you are using 85/15 in say a 10 oz tumbler which holds just 8 oz beautifully would this be correct.... 85% 6006 = 6.80 oz of 6006 15% soy = 1.20 oz soy ?????
  5. Hello everyone, I have recently started testing 6006 and it is not going well, here are some of my first testing results.I will start by telling you I use a 6 sometimes 7% FO load depending on FO and I use a 3" diam straight sided tumbler and a 3" diam tin.I am getting great throw but terrible wicking results. I am heating to 190 adding FO @ 180 and pouring to unheated jars, but basement tends to be very cool.I am trying to put photos up but it is telling me that my pic exceeds forum size limits. If you would like to see themI can send them to you if you have sugg. but for now I will just describe. #1 test straight 6006 with an lx20- beautiful FMP after the 3rd burn but started to soot towards the bottom 1/2 of the tumbler and left a mushroom almost the size of a dime!!huge! #2 test straight 6006 with a cd8 after 4- 3 1/2 hr burns tons of hangup and no FMP but no soot -yay #3 test 6006 w/ 10% 464 soy added cd8 pretty much the same results as # 2 test still really hung up #4 test 6006 w/ 15% 464 soy added cd8-candle is now showing wet spots on the glass and looked pulled away all the way around the glass-definite adhesion problems with this mix and now a worse MP it seems to be tunneling? Any help would be greatly appreciated,Bug where are you? Thanks in advance:)
  6. Thanks from me too Carole. I am mixing 6006 with 464,415,C3 to see which one will work best for me. Thanks again.
  7. Stop burning time & money in your candle business? Just wondering if you think it is worth the 29.00. I've been testing my butt off but any extra info is always welcomed.I was just wondering if the info is really valuable?
  8. I got it from Candlescience and it about 6 mos old and stored in the cool basement.I checked the forum and came across some bad batch#'s but mine was not one of them.
  9. I have found with these salt potpourris and also bath salt that the salt stayed very oily. Do you use something to "dry" them out so there is no oil smears on your container if you use a container.
  10. Chuck- but then do you wick for soy or paraffin?? 6006 is about 80% paraffin so I have been wicking for paraffin with no luck. I have tried cd and cdn and they do not do well either and they are for soy. What are your wick suggestions if I do add soy? Thanks
  11. OOOPS so far I have only used 1 lb of sea salts to 1 tbsp of fo.So shoukd I try denditric salt as well(to "dry" them)?
  12. Hi everyone, I have tested several popular waxes and have settled on 464 as my soy but I also want a paraffin as well and I am having a heck of a time on this one. I have tried most IGI paraffins and found 6006 to be very nice looking and nice glass adhesion and it has a small amount of soy in it as well but I cant wick it to save my life. The throw is where I would like it to be but either the wicks don't have a fmp(zincs) or they burn really nice(lx's) but have a mushroom bigger than I've ever seen and thats on the 1st part of my testing without FO so I can't blame the mushrooms on FO yet.I think I have given this wax a fair try-has this ever happened to you with a wax and when do you get fed up enough to just move on to a different wax?? I have tried cd's-cdn's(I know they are mostly for soy now) zincs,LX's, eco and wicks unlimited's own brand. Thanks for reading.
  13. Hi everyone, While I test burn all my candles I have been tinkering with learning to make bath salts.I have used recipes I have found here but have been having no luck. The problem is that they always look really "oily"and leave marks all over the jar. I know I am doing something very wrong-is there an ingredient that will make them still retain the great fragrance but look dry? Thanks
  14. carebear- ha ha thats the same scent I got! peeeeww:laugh2: that's 19.00 bucks I could have wasted somewhere else. Oh well it was cool to see, I just wonder where they get that fine sand that colors so well. I tried it with regular tan sand and used a purple dye and it looked gross.I'll just keep to making candles they are a big enough challenge for me.
  15. I bought a "Sandle" and although the scent is awful it is a really neat item. It is definitely sand and it is dry no oil feel at all. I don't think I will use it on a warmer, I was thinking of using it just in a candlescape dish instead of rocks etc.
  16. Thanks everyone! *** How do you go about getting free boxes from p office? Do you ship usps then?
  17. I have been using the straight across metal wick bars because I like how taught the keep the wick while the candle sets up. I have been looking at the bow tie wick bars and would like to possibly purchase some but can anyone tell me anything about them? Do you like them and do they hold the wick up tight?
