  1. Mine are on shelves under my pouring station in my shop. No windlws and I go through them fairly quickly.
  2. I think the lotion was cool but will pay more attention in the future. After thinking about it some, I may have grabbed a spatula that was not sterilized prior to use. The product poured into containers is fine so had to do with that bucket. Wasn't sure if soapy water was good enough or maybe a bleach solution. Will try the baggie idea as well.
  3. What is the best way to stearilize containers you can not boil? Made a large batch of lotion and put it in a plastic bucket and I got mold for the first time ever. Do you need to put a layer of plastic over the top as well before you seal the bucket? Seems the mold and discoloration is on the top. I assumed the busket was steril coming from a manufacturer. What a costly assumption
  4. I have used this wax about 7 years now and love it. Does have sinking issues but throw is good both hot and cold.
  5. What's wrong with a company making a profit? I expect to make at least double my cost when I wholesale. Seems that is what this fo company is doing. Out of that comes utilities, shipping and paying the help that gets the stuff to you. Fo's come in different qualities. The companies I pay more for their oils I tend to have to use less so I'm ahead when compared to having to use 1.5 oz per pound of the cheaper oils. Matter of fact, if I can't use 1 oz per pound or less.. I don't use it. Companies that weak oils just are not worth my time. This is not a hobby. I have no problem with people I buy supplies from making a profit. Means they will be there when I need to reorder. You want gouging.. buy some jewelry.
  6. I've actually gotten some fo's that will not mix or stay mixed from Royal Aromatics/Trinity fragrances. I'ts like it isn't made for candle application at all. Stir like crazy and the stuff just falls back to the bottom of the pot as drops. If I actually manage to get it poured, it will settle out of tarts and candles before they set up and be an oily glop on the bottom. Yech!! And to top it off they did absolutely nothing to make it right.
  7. I use WSP and like it. I think the ability to wick up the reeds is the big thing about the base.
  8. Your wicks will melt. All the wax covering will melt off the wick and it won't stand up so great. I warm jars in a turkey roaster set at about 125-150. does make a difference for me because the jars have a bit of dampness to them and getting a wick stuck down is difficult. Warming the jars dries them out and also gives me a better looking candle. Not as perfect as I'd like, but I'm past caring about wet spots.
  9. Call Art and tell him what you need. http://www.nationalshrinkwrap.com/page/page/4625591.htm I had a smaller impulse sealer when I saw him at a soap conference. I watched him quickly wrap several bars of soap in a very short period of time. Wrapping everything indevidually was a real pain.. especially knowing it could be done much faster. I hemmed and hawed about the investment of the system but it is some of the best money I have ever spent. I have shrank wrapped hundreds of melts and soaps. With another film I also do gift baskets. Have yet to need any replacement parts too. The smaller one was always breaking down.. and always right before a show. He is great to work with and the customer service is awsome.
  10. I've used this wax for years and got worse spots with a taller and narrower jar. For a while I poured in the basement and really struggled with them at times. Now have a shop and have been heating the jars and putting them back in the box to cool real slow and am getting some really nice candles. Too early to tell if the problem is solved. I got some wax from the Candlemakers Store that is supposed to help with wet spots. Seems you add a tablespoon to a pound of wax and wetspots go away... have not tried it as of yet but will let you know when I do.
  11. I use just paraffin. A combination of pillar and container waxes to make it melt quick yet unmold easily.
  12. I have an OKIdate 5500 that is wonderful. I lucked out and got the floor modlel for just under $400. I had done a search here on lasers and decided that was the printer I wanted... others had paper jam issues, ink didn't last long or was expensive. The cheapest ink cartridge isn't always the cheapest to print.. have to consider pages per cartridge. Do a search here and note brands that get good reviews.. then price them online and see if you can get other reviews on them. See if a local office shop carries them and ask what they do with floor models. I wasn't planning on buying my printer when I did.. but I knew what I would have to pay if I didn't get it then.
  13. I use a presto as a double boiler and keep water heated to keep the wax up to temp.. and get the black bits. Flecks have definatly come off the coating in the pot around the bottom. Sides do not seem affected.
  14. I shrink all my tarts with a film that allows the scent out. They sell too fast to have issues with scent loss.
  15. I try to keep statistics on shows over the years and found 10% of the expected crowd does purchase from me. My average sale is $20. I look at the expenses expected for the show and then look at the expected attendance numbers. I now expect a certain profit level before I'll go through the travel, setup and tear down of a show so these statistics have helped in choosing which ones to do.
  16. I too can not get a hold of them. Ordered 2 pounds of Patch Raz and it is bad... get a horrible fuel type of smell. Have emailed and called to no avail. Get a fax when I call, not even an answering machine. I even left a review about how bad the oil was and have yet to get anything back from them. I wonder if we all got together and filed a law suit if we could get anywhere. I also want others to be warned not to do business with them. I even emailed them to say these things happen.. just refund my money or get me replacement oils. Whats the big deal.. it happens to all of us somewhere along the line.
  17. I actually shrink wrap mine. Only way they hold up for me for shows. I had an impulse sealer and it did a nice job.. just took a bit of time. Now I have a sealing wand that allows me to shrink 20 in less than 2 minutes. It is a bit of an investment but sooo worth it in the time it saves. I can shrink anything with this. The film allows the scent through too. http://www.nationalshrinkwrap.com/ Awsome customer service as well.
  18. I always recomend Bruce Bakers 2 cd's on booth design and sales. http://www.bbakerinc.com/ . Lots of advice in the archives... a search will turn up loads of info. Have fun and let up know how it goes.
  19. The tags look nice. I thought about using them myself but doing shows all the in and out of boxes would have just tore them up. :embarasse
  20. Heat builds up as the candle burns down into the jar. I'd bet that the sides pretty much catch up by the end of the candle. I wick my jars that way because the are wider at the top than at the bottom. Keeps the mp from getting too deep and it also lengthens the burn. Also not an inferno at the bottom.
  21. JS.. it is awsome in paraffin and lotion. Just soaped it today and so far it is wonderful there. I too adore this scent. Most that take a sniff end up wanting it for themselves too.
  22. I just posted that I have been trying to contact them for almost a week.. phone calls, emails ect and no response. Got some bad oils. They pretty much have lost my business.. not worth the aggrevation. I won't deal with a supplier that makes me leave my customers hanging.
  23. Got an Okidata 5500 this year and love it. Made a real difference in my labels and they don't smear. I wish I had invested in a laser earlier as it has eliminated missprints as well.
  24. Has anyone else ever had problems with Tradewinds? I sent them an email 6 days ago and have spent the last 4 days calling all day long and NOTHING! I have 32oz of bad oil and have tried to contact them by phone and emails and have heard absolutely nothing. Anybody else have issues with them? Any ideas on what to do about the bad oils?
  25. I have been getting this fragrance from Tradewinds and got 2 pounds that are bad.. fuel smell and does not perform like it used to. Have emailed the company and called all day today and nothing! I need another supplier of this fragrance like now. Have customers waiting for product. Any recomendations??
