  1. I have made candles for a few years and have always used a hot glue gun to put wicks on the jar... never had a problem. Now, I have switched to a taller jar, and the darn things are coming loose and drifting when I get to the bottom. Could it be the glue or is it the taller jar generating more heat? I heard someone mention silicone [i think] as another option. Could I get some more info on that and will they stay put?
  2. Have my first craft show coming up and would like an idea of how much change to take. The show runs 3000-5000 people if that will help. Thanks.
  3. I use Quickbook Premier. I love it. Like BLue Diamon says, you can create estimates, sale orders, turn them into invoices, ship packages and process credit cards right in the software. I can enter wax, wicks and fragrances as inventory and then put them together to form a candle in my enverntory. I had a basic version of QB before and liked its ease of use. But I wanted the ability to manufacture from inventory. So I went on ebay, got an idea how much they were selling the beefed up version for, bid on one and then got one that was unopened with a rebate for upgrading. New, the software was $500 [i think] I paid $300 then got $120 back for the upgrade. So I was out $180. For me, it has been well worth it. I would think you could get and even better price now as it is a few years old. [2003]. I ought to see what I could sell my origional version for and make back some of that $180
  4. I have some fragrances where the LX-30 is not big enough. What wick is similar and burns hotter?
  5. I have motteling wax [4045H from Candlewic] and am getting inconsistant motteling. Some are motteled a lot and others none at all. I have been consistant in wax temp, when I add fo and when I pour. Any idea why the different resulys?
  6. I just got set up to do credit cards. I do not need to be able to accept them all the time, just seasonal, during craft show season. My bank hooked me up with a company that offers seasonal usage. I pay $7.00 a month, the fees are not the best 4.5% I think, and there is no minimum. I have a toll free number to do phone authorizations, there is no set up fee [this month I think] and I ordered a manual card reader for $30.. I want to have a signature with the cc#. It took less than a week to get approved and when I don't need the service, I call and don't have the monthly fees. Even with the higher fees, I think I am still ahead with the minimums and start up fees I have seen. Untill I find a need to do credit cards all the time, this will work. If anybody is interested in them, let me know.
