  1. Well if there's wood or plastic handles then no.
  2. Oh cool thanks Gran! Good to know!
  3. If they still smell, can't you just create room sprays with them?
  4. I get 101 oz's of regular OO for 10.99. I have to compare the prices thank you Fire! I'll look at the difference. Oh and I have to look into non-comediogenicy as well. The mostly OO bars I want to make will be facial or sensitive skin. Back to the book and hunting down info on the net! LOL Thank you!
  5. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to have to wait on the oils till I can afford this, and for now will just use what I have, and do my candles a little to show them some love too. LOL it will be better anyway to get the babassu then too, and anything else I'm thinking would be good. More research and thank you for the advice!
  6. OK the thing is really getting nicely firm now. It's amazing me how it's firming up now. Flipped it over and it didn't really make much of a flat spot where it sat. Nothing that is way noticeable anyway. So, by tomorrow, might be able to slice it up. I'm really excited now to see how it looks inside! LOL
  7. OMG OMG OMG Barbara!!! Gorgeous!!!! They are so yummy looking!!! OMG
  8. They look stunning and I would't mind sampling one one day. They're really beautiful. Love the look of them. Perfect!
  9. Yup that book is the best thank you E!!! Forget my question in the pm, as you just answered it here. LOL I'll just do them in 7 lb and repackage it in a tupperware or tub with lid/bucket. Thank you!
  10. Can't wait to see some pictures!
  11. OMG they're gorgeous!!! They don't look rough edged to me! They look perfect!! Is that a swirl or a mold design? Love it!!!
  12. When will they get the babassu in? Anyone know? My walmart coconut is $4.12 for 31.5 oz's. I think it's still cheaper for me to go to Walmart because I go there anyway to shop for something or other in the week. Lard and veggie shortening too. No shipping and gotta go anyway so I think it works for me. Castor I need to get more than anything. I pay 2.76 in Walmart and they're the cheapest, for 6 oz's. CF lard is cheaper but I don't feel like dealing with a huge brick of lard. LOL And I think if I buy the lard bucket now in Walmart, the price will be about the same. I made my castile with jojoba and it didn't do anything negative to my face skin, so I was looking for something at least that or better and avocado does look to be great. Avocado is the same low or no comediogenicy and has better benefits with the unsapables, so I know I want that. Nourishing too from all I'm reading. I want the babassu too but I guess will wait or order it when it gets in if I can't wait. I just want to get some soap rolling here. With the cure time, if I have good recipes so far, won't hurt to use them until I get that babassu as well. From all I'm seeing on pko oil vs flakes, there's not much difference except for ease of use. Does the 7 lb container from CF come in a pour bottle? Isn't it a solid? I'm just going to drop the Jojoba and add PKO. I should have much more to work with doing those for now. Going to see if I can work out doubling the amounts so I don't have to order again too soon.
  13. Well I'm not going to fuss with no animal or organic this and that. I'm about to put in an order with Columbus soon and wanted to know if these seemed OK in conjunction with what I can get at the food store for my hard oils, like lard and coconut oil. avocado castor jojoba palm The avocado is cheaper than the jojoba and I'm wondering if I really need the jojoba. The characteristics and values are very similar, with avocado actually being better for unsapo's in it. I'm trying to go as least expensive as possible here because budget is extremely tight right now. Any advice appreciated. Really just want to go as good, cheap and hard as I can with softs here. I know palm will harden so that I have to get I realize.
  14. I'm curious to hear why Candlemaker likes it too, because I'm new too and it's always nice to hear input from other new chandlers.
  15. OMG LMAO that's great KK!!! And here it is!
  16. You know what? Maybe find an italian restaurant that makes pollenta, and ask if you can buy a little raw meal. It will be yellow but it's the same grittiness.
  17. He's double wicked them. I personally never saw anything wrong with a candle that's double wicked. If I ever hit a jar that's driving me insane, I'll double wick it in a second. I love having multiple wick candles around in case I want more candle light. Great if power goes out, to see until we get the generator going.
  18. Boy you two are having some serious soaping fun! Very pretty!
  19. You can't even find Italian pollenta meal?
  20. The jelly roll is finally firming up!!! I'll take a picture of the roll itself today, but I don't want to cut it too soon. If I do and it all smoodges, then it will be a waste. Have to just wait till it's just the right time to cut. I can't wait to see the cuts too. *crossing fingers*
  21. Thank you Louise! Yeah from what I can smell, they smell nice! With a thinner pouring batter though, the effects would have been better but they're still pretty cool considering! It was fun to play with a swirling method like that. Oh and I washed my hands with that one bar again before, and nice bubbly lather. They might not look as pretty as I'd hoped, but they seem to bubbly nicely. The first test I did this morning trying one was half the lather it seemed. What a difference half a day made.
  22. I'd read up quite a bit if I were you simplyorganic. This forum has a few tutorials and the one I started with was Eugenia's shoebox recipe/method. It was a huge help for me, in getting familiar with the process and also includes directions on how to make a natural colorant using parsley. GM is a big leap I think, if you've never soaped before. Read up on it. I haven't tried it yet, because it can go wrong easily and I don't feel I'm ready yet. It explains in that tutorial how to size oils to fit your mold, how to line your mold and it uses all ingredients that are readily available at your walmart super center food store/pharmacy section. http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61968
