I went to micheal's today and the "sealer" she told me about was a small heat gun. I think i'm just going to order the kit from The Shrink Wrap store that way i get a better heat gun too =)
-
would a few drops of water in an FO cause much effect?
I had washed my hands and then grabbed the towel that was over the FO instead of my normal hand towel.
Yeah bone head move i know.

I'm looking at the small shrink wrap kit on shrinkwrapstore.com, because well it's convenient just to order it all. But micheal's arts and crafts has one as well.
Anyone have suggestions on sealers?

nevermind i can't read prices.

What is considered a mini melt or a jumbo melt.
I'm using the 24 mini muffin pan from target and the melts are coming out average .62 oz in size.
Then i think i'm shooting myself in the foot for charging 0.40 each.

Thanks Ducky

Do they sell lead wicks anymore?
I'm using LX and HTP and know they are not lead.
I'm guessing the wicks you buy at Micheal's or other craft stores might.
I'm asking because a friend of my DW wants candles that are soy and no lead wicks, I can do one half of that

looks like a mini warmer, with a flickering LED light to make it look like a candle.

Glad i could help, i know back when i started i was probably one of those not giving all the info...but if this hard headed tech can learn then anyone can.
-
Haven't used those, but that helps a lot more for those that have
LX wicks http://www.peakcandle.com/category/Wicks/LX-Wicks.aspx
-
so we have these listed some where for newbies to read? like a sticky at the top?
-
I'm using a different wax, but i'm getting really good results from the LX wicks with my 3x6 pillars.
I checked CS guide and they are suggesting the LX 16 or LX 18
Next question :: pulls more teeth:: what FO are you using? IE what smell is it?

I've noticed a lot of new people come here and asking questions without giving any important information. I figured I'd help all of us out. When you ask a question about a candle you are working with the following is VERY IMPORTANT
What wax type
What Wick types you have tried - please don't try one wick and say it's not working.
What FO
What % FO
What size candle - IE 3x6 pillar, 8oz jelly jar...
What additives are you using
maybe even what vendor the FO is from
If anyone else has more to add please do.

a pillar candle. i am using 24 ply flat braid.
i also have made a couple tealights with it, with zinc core.
any advice i would love. also, what is curing??
what size pillar? what FO are you using?
When you make ap ost asking it's best to give all the information up front so we don't need to pull teeth to help you.

some scents just won't be a WOW scent. I've got a ginger lime that has an almost nonexistent hot throw no matter what wick, FO %, additive combo i've tried.
-
I wash them yes. There is a film from manufacturing that feels slimy to me. Plus it gets rid of any dirt or cardboard partials. Once i wash them i do my best not to touch the inside again.
-
Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try this weekend.
-
ooohhhh looky Reese's cups Those do sound easy and look nice.

I'm wonding if a HTP104 wick is too big for this combo
8oz apothecary jar from CS (4inch diam)
4630 wax
9% fireside FO from C&S (yeah i know i need to stop ordering them)
a medium grey dye color
I've test burned a HTP83 and doing the HTP93 now, after 3 test burns of 4 hours each i'm not getting a full melt pool. It's leaving about a half an inch around the outside of the jar. It's got a decently sized melt pool depth about 3/4 of an inch after 2 hours and stays at that level, but alas no full melt pool.
so again is the HTP104 to big of a wick for the jar?
-
I'm a Sagittarius what does that tell you about my candlemaking?
-
I agree... Doing otherwise would simply be shooting yourself in the foot.
This is why i read these boards, new wax, new FO, but i so love the fireplace smell in my house without having a fireplace

Why don't we all post what our husbands make a year. No, just post your tax returns with both incomes on it.
Hey i'm the DH here, and i'm making the money and sending it right out the door with the supplies :laugh2:

I know you are mocking me and it really doesn't matter. Your opinions and side comments don't bother me. I met the Suds_n_Flamez lady through Tiffany but would not call it a friendship or even an aqquaitance. We met once, briefly. AS far as the other lady.... not sure who that is?
Suds_n_Flamez is related to honeybear73, who created honeybear73 because they were sharing suds_n_flamez and they got in an argument or something like that...so if you know the sudz_n_flamez you should know honeybear73.. just my observation...

Is there a max temp or humidity problem? I'm thinking of storing mine in my garage as well, and it gets HOT in the summer with high humidity
