  1. Turn that frown upside down.... maybe you can stock up on clearance!:smiley2: Does suck thou.... that is my major upsetment (that so isn't a word)... high shipping costs. Luckily... Backwoods is down the street. So I can use them for wax and f/o. Jars on the other hand.... The Candlemakers Store in Ohio seems the closest. I placed an order last night, and shipping was nearly 1/3 of the total cost.
  2. Yea... just realized that... I tried the same with banana nut bread... and it ate right through it.... 4 oz of F/O down the damn drain! I used a jelly jar this time... F/O... try to melt glass... go ahead... I dare ya.... BRUHAHAHAHA!
  3. We were pouring a new batch of blueberry candles this evening, and had a heat gun accident. I measured out my f/o in a plastic cup, along with my additives and so on. The hubby was heating up our jars with the heat gun, and didn't realize that the cups were close to him heating up the jars. Right before I go to grab the f/o, I realize there is f/o draining out the cup, all over our kitchen table. So word of warning.... always be aware of your surroundings... and be careful with the heat gun!
  4. The clip in Nigeria, they show the DHL woman at the office getting really defensive when Chris was asking her questions. She lied about the package being picked up, yadda yadda. Are they directly involved? I highly doubt it... indirectly? Probably so. I use DHL when I have to... meaning when a company ships only through that DHL. I really don't care for any of the delivery companies. Rates are high, but you can't do anything about it. Especially the USPS, the largest monopoly in the country. And yes, it's a monopoly under antitrust laws, being as the are a private company, not under governmental rule. I guess its a difficult job to do, and they do "their" best. Could the system be done for efficiently, ABSOLUTELY! I think that every time I have a package coming from upstate, and it is routed to NY, then to Pittsburgh, then to New Castle, then to Hermitage, then to Sharon, before it hits my porch. Enough rambling... Sorry if you "had to take offense," but again, I was just speaking from experience. I can't critic your husband as he has never delivered anything to me to my knowledge. I am sure he is great at his job.
  5. IN MY EXPERIENCE... that was the case.
  6. Send me a PM... I'm doing the dishes right now...lol... but ill get it to you when im done.
  7. I wouldn't suggest pre-payment either. Just make sure you have a clear cut agreement. I have a good one on file if you'd be interested.
  8. It's my guess that you had an online shipping quote. There is usually a disclaimer on the site that says actual shipping costs may be higher or lower, just to cover their @$$
  9. A 10-20% markup for exclusivity is nothing on paper... but works in the long run. From one business professional to another, it's a smart way to go.
  10. Chris Hansen did a whole story about it. He followed packages that we purchased with stolen CC's, all the way to Nigeria. They put GPS tracking devices. http://youtube.com/watch?v=WspiOlbScV8&feature=related
  11. Gardenia.... blah... haha... I'm not a floral kinda guy. But I could so imagine that scent as coconut.... with coconut flakes all over it. Yum!
  12. I HATE DHL.... totally! They delivered my new computer to the wrong house, on the other side of town. When I realized their mistake, they told me "you are more than welcome to go to the address it was delivered to, and pick it up yourself!" YEA RIGHT!?!?! Another time, years ago, I needed a package before the end of the day, because it was a Christmas order, and some of the merchandise was going to a customer who happened to be going on vacation. I called DHL, and they said I could pick it up at their distribution center. Drove 1 1/2 hrs to get there, and the dumb@$$es sent it on a truck for delivery. So I had them page the driver, to meet me somewhere to get it off the truck. CUT TO ME, screaming out of my car window on the parkway to flag down the driver. Finally he pulled over and I got it. WHAT A CRAZY DAY! I only use them as an option of last resort. Poor customer service all around. The drivers are dense. And they are involved heavily in the internet identity theft ring (per Dateline NBC).
  13. I'd definitely upcharge for exclusive rights to the products... 10-20%. Most companies understand that its win-win.
  14. If they are offering you the floor space you need, and are high traffic... I'd go for it. With wholesale, if you have 5 locations that aren't so hot, you have all that inventory sitting around, when you could be selling more at one location that is great.
  15. Oh yea... Fred Myers (has no clue) LOL That would explain the delay! Pony express here we come!
  16. At least I'm not the only one!
  17. HEHE... Thanks.... I agree thou... after I popped them out of the molds, I wanted to nibble a bit. HEHE They smell just as good as they look.
  18. There is a faux organic raffia ribbon I saw somewhere for $3.50ish for 100yds. About 50 or so different colors. Google (my bad, don't want to outside advertise)... ummm... try your favorite search engine with the keyword faux raffia. I think it was one of the top links.
  19. I'm looking into getting recycled cardboard boxes with inserts, similar to those used for votives.
  20. Someone was selling some in a classified the other day... not sure if they are still available or not.
