Who has the pink type by VS? I got a sample of it off of the classifieds a while back and I have someone who wants to order it but cant remember where it was from (I know it wasnt BitterCreek). It was 2 oz. in a frosted/clear 2 oz bottle with a white label. Guesses anyone? I need this ASAP so all help is greatly appreciated!! Pam scentimentalgifts@hotmail.com

I also spill a lot when I pour (especially repours), but I dont waste any of it because I put my molds on waxed paper and as soon as the spilled wax is cool enough I scrape it off and put it back into my pouring pot. HTH ~ Pam

How do these business cards look??? More Added
YooperCandles replied to YooperCandles's topic in Business Side of Things
I havent decided for sure yet, but the girl/tea one is the one I am thinking of the most (third one). Again thanks, and keep the thoughts coming!! Pam -
I think your plan sounds very good........take what you can and then take orders for the rest. When you go to a HI party or something like that you dont get your stuff right away but have to pay and Ive seen some people shell out some big bucks for something that is mass produced. BTW - Congratulations on taking the step, I know it seems like you wont be able to do it but I bet you will be great! Good luck to you and let us know how it goes!! Pam

How do these business cards look??? More Added
YooperCandles replied to YooperCandles's topic in Business Side of Things
I am getting the idea that although the one with the bear is cute, it is only going to attract those who like bears. I have a few more I am working on and will post those when I am done. Thanks to those who have posted, and to others, please add your input.....the more the better! Pam -
Been having a heck of a time coming up with a business card that reflects my business name. Let me know if either of these does it for ya. *** Just to clear things up a bit, the pic of the candles is NOT mine, just a reference to see if I am getting the right idea or not. I am planning on using the company digital camera, but couldnt today because of the snow storm causing everything to close for the day. I just want to see if I am in the right ballpark! Believe me, I wouldnt like it if someone used my work on their business cards...lol Lets hope I do this right.......lol Ok, Ive added two more cards for you to critique....please be honest with all of them. Let me know what you do and dont like about them. Thanks!

I could get into the first one by opening (not saving) but it was on a board like mspaint. I couldnt get into the second one at all. The third one opened up like it should. BTW - the 1st and 3rd pics look really nice, just kinda small and hard to see details. Pam

Is Anybody Selling Candles Online?
YooperCandles replied to Sal_gal48's topic in Business Side of Things
Just so you know, about 65% of those candles are votives........lol I keep alot of votives because I sell alot of them. Also, those are for several craft shows, not just one..........lolol (I wish) I didnt want to make you feel bad, hope I didnt.....just was shocked when you said you didnt sell any but you only have sixteen......didnt realize you also have other stuff. I agree, that if a table has too much or too little stuff I feel they either didnt make much and arent into it 100% or that they havent sold anything and they must not have a very good product (I am very picky.....can you tell) Again, sorry if I made you feel bad because that was not my intention. Try MSPublisher......there is a template for nearly every business form there! HTH Pam

Is Anybody Selling Candles Online?
YooperCandles replied to Sal_gal48's topic in Business Side of Things
Just wanted to say that you will probably need more than 16 candles to make any money either at craft shows or online.......I make votives and 2 sized jars in over 20 different scents and have nearly 1000 candles right now and am worried I wont have enough for upcoming shows. Remember, JMO Pam -
thinking of switching to 4794...
YooperCandles replied to jennhalcyon's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
I also use 4794 and love it! I tried Astrolite V because it is considered a one-pour and hated it. IMO the scent throw and burn of the 4794 is far superior to the AstroV. JMO Pam -
How much do you pay (approximately) on a case of wax for shipping? I order my wax from BCN, which is about a 3 - 4 hour drive from me and pay between $18 and $19 for shipping for one case of wax. Is that good or not? Thanks ~ Pam

Need wick size help please!
YooperCandles replied to reginarn's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
Check this link out. There is a wick choice for just about every wax, container combo. http://server.com/WebApps/db-view.cgi?id=71493 HTH ~ Pam -
The candle supplies have arrived...now what?
YooperCandles replied to Benna's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
First thing is what containers are you using, which type of wick, and type of wax. If you are doing containers, here is what I do (BTW, I use IGI 4786 wax, dye chips and scent from Bitter Creek North)...I melt wax to about 185 - 190 degrees. I usually add dye chip as wax is melting to ensure it is completely melted. Then I stir, stir, stir. I add FO at about 180 degrees and stir until about 165 - 170 degrees and do first pour into container. I wait until first layer is cooled (when sides of jar have no heat) then do repour 10 degrees hotter than my first pour. I ususally start out with 1 oz. FO per pound of wax and adjust from there. I hope I have helped some. Feel free to pm me or email me at scentimentalgifts@hotmail.com Pam -
I dont have an answer for you, but I thought you may get a better response if you post this on the Business Board rather than the Candle Making Board. Pam
-
I make them because a lot of my customers and I work in an office where you cannot burn a flamed candle but still want the nice scent that comes from a candle. I make my wickless in the 1/2 pint mason jars because they are short and squat, but very thick. Pam scentimentalgifts@hotmail.com

Can someone tell me where to look for....
YooperCandles replied to joyofsoycandle's topic in Business Side of Things
If you make them yourself it is much cheaper, but if you want someone to make them for you there are a few other board members here who are really good at designing. Maybe one of them will chime in and let you know what they reccommend. HTH ~ Pam -
If you do decide to do this and need to purchase a cash register, I would reccommend taking a look on ebay or if you live somewhere large (which I dont) try going out of business sales where they are selling everything. You may be able to get some inexpensive shelving as well as a cash register. I purchased my cash register off of ebay from a liquidation company that buys from closing stores and paid $20 for my register, about $15 for shipping and $7 for a new set of register keys. The register is awesome with 400 PLUs and 20 department buttons. HTH Pam scentimentalgifts@hotmail.com

Can't find the right scent...
YooperCandles replied to Mommy2preciouskids's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
The first thing that came to my mind was Bitter Creek North's Angel Wings! Pam -
Try doing a search for hurricanes on the board. If you dont get enough there, I would try the archives. I have found so much awesome information about hurricanes on this board that I couldnt believe it. HTH - Pam

New Name Needed...
YooperCandles replied to Sharon in PA's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
Going on a couple of the ones already listed I combined two together and came up with Mint Kisses. Pam -
I would think that if j50 is a true one pour wax that you could do a second pour at any time as long as you use the same color. Also, pour the second pour atleast 10 degrees hotter than the first to make sure that they combine together and you dont get a line. HTH Pam

Where can you find these?
YooperCandles replied to pdevine's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
I have seen some similar to that on ebay with dolphins and mermaids, etc. Try there. HTH ~ Pam -
How do you show your sample scents?
YooperCandles replied to deanna's topic in Business Side of Things
I was also using the tealights in the craft containers (for beads), but the scents have all blended together. Then I tried the same system, but putting the tealights in small polypro bags. Again, the scents mingled. If I find anything worth keeping, I will post it. Pam
