  1. Hi - I recently got some clamshells from another board member to try. What I did was close the lid to find out how far the lid goes down. Then I filled it to just before that spot. Mine was a 3 oz. clamshell and I put about 2.5 oz in. HTH ~ Pam
  2. I dont know if anyone else has seen this, or how true it is, but I just thought that it was important to show it to as many people as possible for the safety factor. Pam After posting this and realizing the attachment didnt attach, I didnt of reasearch and found this about the email I got. The email example is the exact email I received. http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/p/plug-in-air-fresheners.htm I guess everyone needs to decide for themselves, fire hazzard or not!
  3. I got a boat load of the Rival warmers at wally world last spring on sale for $2.00 each. Make sure to look when the winter stuff is on clearance for the end of the year! Pam
  4. I have to say that I have gotten a few ideas from this post that I want to try. To add mine, my mom has MS and has to take a ton a medicine. Every month she gives me her pill bottles. I use them for dyes, wick hole plugs, and even to make small pillars in (the larger pill botles). I have also used them to hold excess wax that I need for repours. Great posts all! 5. Just a thought, but if your customers are all local maybe you could send a postcard to each of them with an introduction to the new name. For example: Coming in February "New Name" Same great products and service, new look and name! I dont know it that helps at all, but its an idea for those close to you! Pam
  6. Ive gotta go with StaceyScentsations(DH) on this one, but for my own reason. I would NEVER give anything away for money or not without my label on it just for liability reasons. If someone needs to contact me for insurance reasons or allergies, etc. I want them to be able to. If there was a way to give them the needed information without a label I would do that, but would rather seem like I am trying to get new customers than like I am trying to avoid people who are trying to get ahold of me. Either way, its a great idea. That has been my motto for the last month "pay it forward". Merry Christmas EVERYONE! :smiley2: Pam in Upper Michigan
  7. I also have a UPS vent! Today I received a case of wax from BCN, which is about 3.5 hrs away. The box doesnt sit on a truck for days before it gets delivered to me so it should be good as gold when I get it........NOT. The corner of the box was ripped wide open and wax was broken off of more than one of the slabs. I want to notify UPS, but I had to open the box and use the wax for a fundraiser due in a week and dont know if they will take my word for it. What do you all think??? Pam
  8. If you guys do a Valentines Day Swap I would like to join. Everyone around here loves my candles, but I would like some input from other candle makers. Now I have something to possibly look forward to for Feb!!!!! Pam
  9. I love your candles. Your labels are sooooooooooo cute! Great Job!! Pam
  10. I use a votive preblend (igi4794) and have to make sure to wait long enough for my repour. If I pour the second pour too soon I get mega sink holes near the wick. I understand the reason you want to pour your second pour sooner, but Im not sure that is the correct answer. Try it and see if it works. If not, try waiting until your votive molds are room temp to the touch and do your repour 10 degrees hotter than the first. hth Pam
  11. I use 4786 for my container candles (jjs) and love it! I dont have any problem with it burning too quickly. What size wick are you using with this wax? I use zinc cored.....usually the 44-24-18 and a 51-24-18 on thicker scents like vanillas. Hopefully someone else can help with other reasons yours are burning too quickly. Pam
  12. I think that candle is beautiful! Great job!! Pam
  13. Thanks everyone for the help keeping my chin up and the well wishes for the wholesale possibility. I will keep you all informed. Pam
  14. Today I went to a local craft fair that has been going for 35 years. I have been a customer at several of them and they were always busy with a lot of good, quality crafts to choose from. Well, this year's sucked big time!!!! Booth fee was only $20 + $3 for electricity....which is cheap, but not when you only make $20 in 8 hours. There was supposed to be only 3 candle makers there out of about 65 crafters, but thee were 6. One good thing was I got a prospect on a wholesale account for a local gift shop. If that pans out I will be ok with the lack of sales at the actual show. Sorry all, I was reading how well everyone did and was jealous............sorry. CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO DID SO WELL. Pam
  15. try this: put a pour pot or some other container on your scale. Tare out the weight of the container. Then add the wax. Dont worry about the liquid amount, just worry about 8 ounces in weight! HTH ~ Pam
  16. Try looking here. They have a ton of combos for you to try. http://server.com/WebApps/db-view.cgi?id=71493 HTH ~Pam
  17. I ordered some of the pumpkin jars there a few years ago. They were shipped very quickly and packaged very thoroughly. I have only ordered from them once, but it was a good experience. Pam
  18. Thanks all for the help........I really needed it. I found the bottle that I had and it was from Willowwoods. Go to that site.......closed due to health issues. Now I have to find a replacement fastttttttttttt. I have some good supplier endorsements here so I just have to choose one.......lol Thanks again for all the help! Pam
  19. Those are carved candles from the sounds of it. Hopefully the master of carved candles, Bruce, will chime in here and let you know all about them. Look in the gallery and you will probably see some of his wonderful work. HTH ~ Pam

  23. Does anyone else know anything about Gemlite? I would like to hear both the negative and positive of this company! Thanks ~ Pam
  24. Anyone every get scents from Gemlite Fragrance Company off of Ebay? They seem to have a large variety of scents at a very good price, which is what makes me leary. I am having a fundraiser that wants some scents that I dont currently have, such as lilac, gingerbread, and cuke melon and I saw that Gemlite has them all. Any feedback on them (negative or positive) Thanks ~ Pam scentimentalgifts@hotmail.com
