  1. I agree that it's good that other forms of energy are being researched but as Fire said, it will be sometime before there's in engine out that can handle ethanol and the cost of it will be much more than today's gas per gallon. In the meantime, I went ahead and ordered C3 from Candlewic, even with the shipping it was less than driving to pick it up locally at the jar store. I might as well save the gas in my car. As for marking up the candles, consumers will decide when they are too expensive and will opt for other less expensive scent options....
  2. The Jar Store increased their C3 price from 55.50 to 74.50 for a 50# box. I did check Candlewic and their price is still $49.50 but the shipping is over $20 a box.... It's going to be tough to continue candlemaking with these prices....anyone know if this is temporary bump up or more permanent. Thanks...
  3. Has anyone tried Fresh Cut Grass from Wholesalefragrances4less? They have a wide variety of scents and I was tempted to order a few but would welcome feedback before ordering. Thanks
  4. I love CS's White Tea and Berries. I use C3 and didn't need to wick up. It has a very fresh smell with a hint of berries.....so far I've had great feedback from customers. The only other White Tea I tried was Bert's and I didn't care for it....
  5. Thanks Island Girl.....I will check it that link.....appreciate the help.
  6. Anyone have experience setting up vouchers using Mals cart. I start reveiwing the process but was confused by how the whole thing works. I use currently use the free version of Mals and it does have this option. Thanks
  7. I have the Masterbuilt and the temp guage on mine goes down to 150F. It does turn on with a default temp setting of 200F...I agree with Stella though that the wax does get hotter near the element. I found if I add a couple of pounds of soy flakes while it's getting up to temp and stir periodically while it's melting, I can keep it regulated pretty well. Once that amount melts, then I add more flakes and additives....test temp and stir. The pot beeps when it gets to temp and start to cool off pretty quickly.
  8. I use Candlescience dye chips but it wasn't until someone on the board said to melt them first in your pour pot with your heatgun before adding wax that I was satisfied with the outcome. Prior to that I would get spots. It happens very seldom if I follow this process and color is always pretty consistent....just need to follow my notes on which colors to combine.
  9. Mine is CT River Candles....we moved to a new home on the CT River shortly after I had lower back surgery. While recuperating, I started researching candlemaking on my laptop while stuck in bed. I found it fascinating and decided it would be that fun job I always wanted to have. My husband kept taking photos on the river and the combo of river photos and candle names was born. My first candle name was "Strong Currents" - Candlescience's Wildberry Mousse Scent. And the addiction was born.....my back is alot better thankfully :smiley2:
  10. I picked up a candle while shopping that was made with a combo of lemongrass and lavender and it smelled really nice....not too strong. Seemed like a perfect for Spring Summer scent. Anyone used this combo and where did you purchase. Thx
  11. I was wondering how Bert's Cucumber Melon was.....I had received a sample from BCN and didn't really like it......I'll be reordering some of scents from Bert soon so I'll have to get a sample of this one. Will also check into the Blueberry Cobbler at Makes Scents Thx
  12. No, I think it has more of a buttercream like vanilla smell. I had already tried CS's French Vanilla and straight Vanilla without much luck in C3. So far this is the best one.....I did have to wickup to get a full mp. I'm very close to ordering a pound of this one. Now if I could only find a good blueberry, honeydew and strawberry. I order mostly from CS but have now added Bert's, ICS and TCS to my FO suppliers. I read somewhere that the Honeydew and Summer Berries from TCS was really good. I'm not good with testing samples after doing alot of research and not having them throw well.....it's not like I want to burn them either if they don't throw good I have 6 of Bert's scents in various stages of testing and so far only 2 are possibles. Two more of ICS's are heading toward a positive outcome...
  13. Hmmm, I'm burning very vanilla again now after letting it cure a few more days and the throw is definitely stronger. Thanks everyone for the replies.
  14. I have CS's Very Vanilla and it has a decent hot throw but I've read ICS's Vanilla Smoothie performs really well in soy. Anyone compared both? Thanks
  15. The lemon and ande's mints are both throwing awesome and smell good enough to eat. I did have to wick up on the lemon. I also like the redwood and cedar and think I will use it instead of antique sandalwood which no one seems to like. Not sure about the blueberry, coconut, or white tea, yet. I'm really looking for a strong bakery blueberry and I don't think this is it.
  16. I'm not smelling any musk at all in this one......granted it is a sweet scent....sugary, cotton candy like......
  17. Just received: Ande's Thin Mints Lemon Biscotti Coconut Redwood and Cedar Satin Sheets Blueberry White Tea I've made up the candles but are waiting for them to cure before testing. I have to agree with everyone that they all smell great OOB - so far favorites are the Lemon, Ande's and Redwood&Cedar. I'll report back on how they do in wax (C3). I also wanted to mention that Bert was very kind in correcting my order to make sure I got the special pricing on sample quantities - now that is great customer service!! Thanks again Bert... :smiley2:
  18. I have ICS's pink sugar burning/testing now. I think it smells great and throws awesome......I'm going to make it one of my valentine scents....
  19. Thanks for the suggestions......yep, a new printer might be the christmas present I didn't want In the meantime, I'll see if I have an option for cardstock....
  20. I just received some new labels from Online labels and I've got everything lined up but when I print, they are not aligning correctly. The print is starting to close to the top of the page. Now the strange part, when I print on the wrong side of the label sheet they print fine or on just plain white paper. I was thinking it might be the rollers slipping or something so I cleaned them but the same thing. The labels are just the basic white inkjet labels......
  21. Love the blue, reminds me of the islands.....
  22. Yes, I always test to the bottom of the jar especially since the jars I'm using are taller than they are wide....
  23. Thanks all......I'm going to try test burning again and then wicking down if necessary.....I'd like to get it to work because it really smells good....
  24. It's been burning since about 4pm this evening and just seems to get richer. I also got ICS honeydew and pink sugar and they also have really nice cold throws....won't know how the ht is until I can get the wicking right....
