  1. Just wondering if anyone has feedback on CS's Honeydew Melon or White Tea and Berries in C3. Just ordered samples along with Christmas Tree, Strawberry and French Vanilla. They all smell good OOB. I'm going to begin testing today and wondered if I should increase/decrease FO %. I typically use 6-6.5% in my 16oz straight sided mason jars. Thanks
  2. I've been using CS's wicks for awhile and haven't had any problems with the coating but they now have this info on their site about changes to the coating: All of our pre-tabbed wicks (except the Zinc series) are now coated with a high-melt natural wick wax. Natural candle makers can market their products as 100% natural wax all the way down to the wick, and paraffin candle makers don't notice the difference.
  3. I like CS's BNB in C3......good cold and hot throw....everyone says it smells just like the real thing.
  4. Thanks everyone for the great replys......I'm going to go ahead and get a griddle since they're so much more reasonable than a food warmer....sounds like there are multiple ways I can put it to use. Hopefully hubby increased the size of the circuit breaker in the shop, sometimes my "candling tools"....turkey fryer, heat gun, griddle, presto pot and radio, create no lights!
  5. Thanks Carole... Do you also leave them on the griddle to cool. I low does it go in temp. I kind of liked that idea with the warming tray. Now I put them back in the box that the jar came in and cover them with towels. My husband says I treat them like babies....
  6. Another good idea.....I'm a little confused on the stirring part though. Are you saying to stir from the time you mix the wax with the FO/Dye until it's the right temp to pour. I typically heat to 175F, add FO/Dye and then cool to 125F and pour. It can be up to 15-20 minutes or more before the temp drops to 125F, so you're saying stir that whole time? All this was working really good until the weather started getting colder here in CT and now I'm fighting the frost again....I could almost see the crystals forming immediately after I poured even though the jars weren't really that cold. I'm beginning to embrace the frost more and more :rolleyes2 Also, do you have any suggestions on where to purchase a warming tray reasonably? Most of the ones I saw were near $100..... Thanks...
  7. Thanks Stella....I knew I could count on you for a good suggestion.
  8. Anyone use one of these to keep the jars warm before pouring. My shop is in the basement and the oven isn't convenient. I try warming the jars with the heat guns but looking for something quicker. Walmart has one for $19.99...not sure how low the temp goes.... Thanks
  9. Candlescience says: A sweet floral aroma with base notes of fresh fruits and vanilla. Yes, I would say that pretty much describes it.....I can't really decide what the fruits are.....it is sweet and may smell like the plant but I've never smelled one so I'm not sure. I have 7.25oz left out of the 8oz bottle. Pm if you're interested.
  10. Hi Carrie: I pretty much only use Candlescience fragrances and I also use C3.....so far I have had good cold and hot throw at 6-7% with the following: Apples and Maple Bourbon Cinnamon Sticks Basil and Herb Clean Cotton Sunwashed Linen Moonlight Musk Lovespell Lime Cooler Hansel and Gretel's House Cranberry Marmalade Sandalwood Mistletoe Vanilla Hazelnut Caramelized Pecans Banana Nut Bread Wildberry Mousse Brandied Pear Didn't really love Birds of Paradise, threw well but not my kind of scent Sugar Cookie - not that strong Wassail - actually, it does grow on you after awhile. Pumpkin Souffle - smell burnt There's lots more I want to try such as the Blueberry, Strawberry, Honeydew Melon, English Garden, Raspberry, Rain Water, Palm Tree so I'd be interested to hear your feedback for the ones you purchased as well as others you may purchase going forward. PS: I also bought all mine without asking questions first
  11. I used the calculator on the site to try and determine the burn rate for my 16oz jars using C3. Is it normal for the time to be quite a bit higher when the candle is full vs when you get toward the bottom of the jar. I had a high range in the 130's when the candle was new to a low near 70 as it approached the bottom of the jar. If this is normal, are you supposed to average the times or does the first indicate you're in the range of 100-120 for this size jar. Thanks in advance.
  12. Can I ask what size jar and eco wick you were using. I'm using them as well and having good luck but always up for improvement. I currently use an eco10 in a 16oz mason (2.5dia) using C3 Soy Thanks
  13. It looks really nice. I especially like the colors, very soothing and fits the them. Good luck with it....I just got mine up as well and continue to tweak.
  14. Sandi - Thanks for the feedback and offer of help... I hollered back via a pm :smiley2:
  15. I bought mine wholesale from www.wickmanproducts.com you need to have a tax number also. I also saw them somewhere else and that supplier had a thicker dish which was nice for measuring the cut of the wick. Can't remember the name though.
  16. Glad you liked the changes......the river dog is a 9" Kohair made by Douglas Toys. They have a website where you can order Yellow, Chocolates and Black Labs as well as many other dogs and also in other sizes. Just don't call them like I did and ask about wholesale pricing for dipping their plush in wax.....they did not want to hear about anything to do with their plush being dipped in wax. I was hoping to get them at a better price because once you add shipping, they can get a bit pricey and hard to really make any money on at all. I have some yellow plush "not dipped" but I'm assuming you're looking for black labs. Someone was also looking into a Co-op from First and Main which had some nice plush dogs but I'm not sure there's enough interested. Russ toys also has nice plush dogs if you need specific breeds.
  17. Thanks again everyone for the great feedback. Heather - I've fixed the header again, evened out the photo's etc. Can you believe I didn't even notice the difference in the photo sizes. OMG, I need new glasses. I also added 16oz to each of the candle descriptions....you're right it was hard to find on the home page. I'll have to add something about burn time - I just remember while testing it seemed like they would never stop burning :smiley2: I'm still trying to get the word out about the website...haven't gotten any orders from it yet but I have still have hope..... HeavenscentU - my dog drives me crazy - he's always trying to escape which is very scary because while we live near the water, we also live near a very busy road. Tried the underground fences and just above everything else. What you don't see in the photo of him in the water is a long rope tied to a tree. I think he would swim up river to Hartford. He's a 7 year old lab that acts like a 6 month old puppy still! What kind of dog(s) do you have?
  18. Hmmm, on every page or just a certain one. Also, which browser are you using? Thanks for the help.
  19. I will get a cold sore once in awhile, usually if I'm run down. My dermatologist prescribed Valtrex - yep the same stuff for herpes where the sun don't shine. I guess they're in the same family. He said take 1 pill as soon as you feel the tingling on your lip and viola, it never even materializes...once they come out, it can take forever for them to heal and go away. Only problem is the look you get from the pharmacist when picking up the script....I'd rather suffer that than the cold sore.
  20. I've finished all the changes that were suggested and it does look alot better. It really helps to have others providing these suggestions - after awhile and 100 publishes, I can't see the most obvious stuff. Patience: I haven't tried the BlueVoda logo maker yet but maybe I'll take a look. I'm just not really very artistic but could play with some initials like CTRC. My husband actually took the photos for the website. :smiley2: Thanks again.
  21. That's good because it was a workaround to not being able to figure out the whole dropdown menu scent selection thing :smiley2: I was thinking of putting a photo of each container next to the descriptions but opted for providing the labels photos throughout....still thinking about it. Taking those photos and then editting them are such a pain in the neck!
  22. Good point....I'll work on updating the prices tomorrow..... Appreciate your help :smiley2:
  23. I use the Reddig Soy Dye Chips but now that you mention it, the natural part is probably the soy and not the dye. I think I'll reword that sentence... thanks for picking up on it.
  24. I just received some from keystonecandlesupplies.com and they sell in smaller quantities....shipping did take almost 5 days though.
