  1. Thanks for Clearing that up Sponiebr; I learned that when I looked them up on amazon! LOL.
  2. I Know But; I'm just beginning to set up shop; I don't have a melter yet; so I was looking for a way to get started cheaply and I think this consistent temp. hot plate will be adequate! as I stated in my OP; this is also the way Candle Science melts wax for their test!
  3. I also took the liberty to find a Celcious To Fahrenheight Conversion chart that includes the wax melting range of tempetures to make easy access for any fellow Crafters; that may want to use this method for melting their wax!!!
  4. Sponiebr; I think you may be able to get other brands of consistent temp. heating plates that way; But I was looking to avoid the magnet because pour pots are NOT Magnetic they are aluminum. and the heating plate on this is also aluminum; so I don't have to worry about compatibility with my 4-lb. pour pots this way. But I do know they also use these in science labs for making stuff like children's "Gummie vitamins" that are also poured in molds and need a consistent tempeture!!
  5. I Think I'm going to go with this instead of the induction for melting my wax as this does NOT require magnetic pots to work. and is also temp. controlled! I may have found a more efficient way of melting wax Directly in Pour Pots! With this tempeture controlled hot plate! It only displays Temps. In Celsius; But I can always Google the Conversion too Fahrenheit Candle Science also uses a hot plate for their Test and the ONLY stipulation the manufacture gives is NOT to use it at 300ºF for over 8 hours. Which is NOT needed for Wax anyway! So this appears to be Perfect!!! http://www.tmart.com/High-Precision-Digital-Display-Constant-Temperature-Electronic-Heating-Plate-200-200-110V_p335012.html?cc=USD&fixed_price=hk_intl&gclid=CKC_m8zto9ACFQSnaQodtaEOxQ
  6. I'm considering using them wooden paint stirrer's for stirring my wax. The long ones; that they use to stir paint in 5-gallon buckets! But you could use the short ones too of course for wax; I'll use one's that have never been used in paint But I'm going to be stirring inside of aluminum pour pots.
  7. I Don't see why using pour pots inside of a sauce pan; on this temp. controlled induction stove in a double boiler setup would be any different then a temp. controlled Water Jacketed Wax Melter! Seems like it would be pretty much the same to me! I can always put some pea-rock in the bottom; so the pour pot is not sitting directly on the bottom of the sauce pan. and water can flow around the pour pot
  8. So the same size HTP; could preform very differently then the Same size of LX am I correct?
  9. TallTayl; Do you melt your wax in the pour pots; on the griddle with the griddle on the warm setting?
  10. Since I'm using 4 lb. Aluminum Pour pots on this; and induction works of off magnetic; I will have to put my pour pots inside of a magnetic sauce pan as a double boiler anyway. in order to get the induction technology to work! But; the PLUS Side; of this setup would be that BOTH Burners are Individually and precisely temp. controlled!
  11. I may consider getting a presto pot; Then Using a Temp. Controlled induction to keep my pour pots warm!
  12. Then again Candle Science sells a Direct Heat Wax Melter!!! https://www.candlescience.com/equipment/melter-65lb
  13. I figure; I can always use in-pot gauges to keep an eye on temp. NOT solely relying on trusting the temp. that I set! And I would eventually buy multiples for a 4 pour pot ability if it worked!
  14. I got a Reply from Candle Science; and they said the Nuwave Cooktop Should work; But they would recommend doing a test batch First! I may try to go this route; if it works it would save a lot of time that is for sure! With the added ability to have 2 pour pots going at once! as this cooktop allows you to precisely set it to 180ºF (or) whatever Temp. you want!
  15. Clear Black; Conversely; I could also set one to melt temp; and the other to pour temp.
  16. I don't think I would need to use a double boiler Clear Black; as I can control the Temp. of each burner precisely with a digital control panel; in 5ºF degree increments as I stated in my original post if you missed that part. So I can set; one burner to be 180ºF and the other 175ºF or any combination I desire. it's about $160 from Overstock.com Clear Black.
  17. I'm Considering using 4-lb. pour pots on an induction cook top? I can precisely adjust the tempeture on each side individually in "5ºF degree" increments! So For example I could have Soy Wax on one side; and paraffin on the other side (or) Conversely I would have the ability to pour 2 different recipes or FO's at the same time When doing smaller candles like Votive's. This seems as it would be really convenient! as it would reduce the need for a Presto-Pot and Reduce my Cost; as well as reduce the Mess of transferring wax from presto to pour pot.
  18. Does anybody have a response relating the correct temp to at FO to Palm Wax as well?
  19. If between 180 and 185 is the general consensus for Paraffin; Is it different for Soy Wax?
  20. At What temperature should I try adding my FO? Is there a general rule of thumb? I'm going to try testing a custom blend for my containers of IGI 4625 "Pillar Blend" (and) IGI 4627 "Comfort Blend" In equal parts by weight.
  21. Thank You Very much Clear Black the Madison from the Jar Store and Anchor hocking; does look closer to what I'm looking for!
  22. JBradShaw and KrisS Here are Three Sites at ALL of which you can find "Candle Safe" Containers I do NOT work for any of these Companies so I have NO Bias. I just know that these specific 3 are Trustful Candle Supply Companies. First One: https://www.candlescience.com/containers Second One: http://www.peakcandle.com/category/Containers.aspx Third One: http://www.lonestarcandlesupply.com/candlecontainers/containers/index.html Note to Moderators: a Sticky Thread of the companies with the best and largest assortments of container collection would be great in the future; for beginning chandlers.
  23. Clear Black; I found your 4 oz Apothecary jars... http://www.lonestarcandlesupply.com/products/candlecontainers_4-oz-mini-apothecary-jars-with-glass-dome-lid.html Now; can you just return the favor Clear Black; and find my 20 ounce perfect pillar Jars ROFL!
  24. I thought that in general the hardest FO's to wick we're the Heavy ones like Vanilla; is this True???
