  1. oh they won't be a prob at all! Just bend them right at the base of where the wick comes out of the wax. They lay real nice on the top of the candle. I usually make mine go one direction for all of them so it looks uniform and then shrinkwrap! Good luck on your sale!
  2. Or you can put them in the freezer for about 3 minutes. If you leave them for too long, they crack! Eep! I actually don't have any problems getting my square ones to come out. I had a heck of a time getting the 15 hour ones out. I used a paraffin blend on those. Palm has been a cinch to remove from the molds. As for containers to burn the sq votives -- I was just at hobby lobby and they're stocking the square glass containers by Libby. They're a little more pricier, but they sure do look nice! I'll have to take pics when I get a chance and post.
  3. Well, I'm a fan of shrinkwrapping just cause it looks nice and gives a freshness feel to it (imo of course). After that you could just wrap a paper band around it with printed stickers or print directly on the paper. That's how I do mine anyhow! Nice setup! Your hubby does well! haha
  4. Welcome and hello! I'm fairly new as well, but haven't been making for as long as you! Can't wait to get to know ya!
  5. Looks good period! haha I wasn't as brave and started out with votives. Figured I couldn't mess those up!
  6. I found a thread that shows how to put your own spigot on the presto pot. Is this what you girls did then? Or can you buy them with a spigot? I'm really curious because this would REALLY help me out as far as mess goes!
  7. Thanks Michi I think my sprayer is no good. I went el-cheapo on one and I'm paying the price it seems. I'll try to find a fine mist sprayer.
  8. Being a newbie myself, I'd say melt and pour. Then work your way up to the 'from scratch' category.
  9. Okay, I've read and read and read online that if you get bubbles in your melt and pour, to spray with rubbing alcohol to get rid of bubbles. Well, i've done that and it messed up my nice swirls I had going on. Anyone have tips on how to keep the bubbles at bay while still being able to keep some kind of color difference in the soap? Thanks!
  10. Oh wowzahs! These are all so great! I love the color combos and those crackles are BEAUTIFUL!
  11. Wow-- love the color and mottle! Those are soooo pretty!
  12. You melt yours right in the pot? I could see with the turkey fryer with a spigot, but I always melt my wax in a handled pot inside the presto pot. ??? How in the world do you get your wax out of a presto without being completely messy? haha
  13. I was about to say the same thing kandlekrazy. haha That looks yummy! How in the world did you get the 'spices' to stay suspended throughout the soap? Mine always goes straight for the bottom, which ends up being up on top after it comes out of the mold. Either way, fantastic job!
  14. Nice! The speckled ones caught my eye first. I like how you made the dual color in what I'll assume is the chocolate bar? I've yet to tackle my first batch of soaps from scratch, I can only hope they turn out as nice!
  15. I have made my own, but I've seen them at Lonestar, so yeah.. what ^-- divcandles said.
  16. You can say that again! My only concern is the amount of money. Instead of plunking down so much on things that have not worked for others... I'm interested in trying what DOES work well for others. Especially when I'm not always completely sure where to start. Thanks for your input again Stella.
  17. Nice! I LOVE the middle of the whole thing. The colors... ahhh, yeah whoever is getting these, count yourself lucky. They're beeeeautiful.
  18. heya! I love doing votives and as far as repouring, I don't mind that part at all either as the waxes I've used have shrunk a bit and it looks nice when I repour. I don't know if I could handle the simplicity of a single pour. In any case, I don't know anything about the wax you're using, but I'm wishing you luck in finding what works for you! I've used the mottling wax from Cierra's and it worked really nicely.
  19. Thanks for the advice Stella. I'm normally one to dive in and buy, so I figured I'd stop myself and start asking around before I tried more. Especially if I find a price difference. I thought Candlewic was cheaper, but found CS carries them for a slightly lower price. I'm off to see what I can't find out about your 99 cent molds awickedscent. Thanks for the tip!
  20. Thanks Stella! I am trying to take the cheapest way out I can, but am finding more and more that it's going to be required to test with all the ones I 'think' will work. *sigh* I'm going to try out CS wicks as they had a guide to pick them out based on wax and diameter/type. So, I'm crossing my fingers! Thanks for the link!
  21. *hugs* Do we have a hug smilie??? Thanks so much!!!! I appreciate your 'homework' -- how you found all this...
  22. haha! Halloween brings it out huh? So, am I getting this right? If you order several times from Candlewic, you could get votive molds that are of different heights? I have a lot I need to order from CS and would prefer to get my molds at the same time, but not if they're going to be different sizes each time I need to get more...
  23. THANKS Gdawg! haha Yeah, my head is literally spinning as I have no clue what wicks to use. And what sucks even more is when you buy wax from one supplier who doesn't give you a guide and you go to other sites who DO give guides.. it's only for the wax they carry and of course it's wax I don't have and ugh, the cycle never ends. I've been on CS for a bit now using their guide. I use Alabaster's palm wax - Astor F and I used the standard votive wicks from CWic. And they just do NOT work. They melt when I put them in even when it's starting to turn to slush, so I know I need something different. Right now I make square votives. I'm ordering square pillars here pretty quick....sizes 3x3x3.5 and 3x3x6.5 --3x3x9.5 when those become available (they're out of stock atm). So, any help at all would be awesome!!!!
