  1. After seeing your other post that says you use 10% fo (I'm assuming you mean 10% fo load) you are more than likely using too much fo. Try backing off some and it may solve both your problems.
  2. I have several of the directors chairs that I take to horse shows. I took the backs to a local embroidery shop and had them put a horse head and my farm name on them. Bet they would look nice with your business name.
  3. I love all the pictures of the rustics everyone here does. I am a soy container girl, but am thinking I might want to try rustic pillars. Can anyone tell me what I would be getting myself into I suppose I will need different wax, wicks and molds than what I currently have, what else? TIA
  4. LOL Where do you think unscented face soap comes from I have done that before too, twice!!
  5. I do a lot of my CP soaps with goatsmilk. I use the powdered stuff since I have not been able to find fresh where I live. I mix the powder into my oils and stick blend well prior to adding my lye water. I have had good luck doing it that way. As for a book, I can't help you, but you should be able to search this site and find more info than you would get out of most books!
  6. I just let mine sit on the counter til they are set. I have never done anything else, the only time I have problems with wet spots is in the winter when it get really cold. Like it is today and for the next week or so, we are not supposed to be above zero until sometime late next week.
  7. I have done Peaks Spruce Christmas tree and have always called it Northwoods. Course being in the northern part of MN that name seems to work pretty good.
  8. I use hang tags rather than labels for my candles. I just think mine look better when they are burning if they don't have a label stuck to the jar. I use white business card sheets that I get pretty cheap at Walmart and my Print Shop Program. I do my "label" on one side of the card and have the burning instructions on the other side. I punch a hole in one corner and tie them on with a ribbon or piece of material. I DO put a warning label on the bottoms of all my jars.
  9. All the "deer corn" at Walmart is is whole shelled corn. Depending on how many of these wraps you are gonna make you can get corn cheaper at a feed store. I prefer the flax seed for mine as it's a much finer consistancy and molds better to whatever area you are trying to warm. Again, if you plan to make more that one or two warmers look into getting flax seed from a feed store. I know where I live that the flax seed in the health food or grocery store is 4-6 dollars for a small bag. I have fed flax to my horses and think I paid about $30 for a 50# sack. Just to add that I have made some larger warmers that I will heat up before I go to bed, I put them down by my feet which seem to always be cold. I guess I better go get a couple new ones made today or tomorrow as they are predicting -26 for the low on Saturday and -50 windchills YIKES
  10. I am needing to place an order for mango butter and boy is that stuff gotten expensive. Does anyone know if there is someplace with a better price than Colombus Foods? Their's $5.60 a pound for a 10 pound block. I also need shea and coconut oil. They have the coconut oil in a smaller amount or a 50# bucket, I hate to get the 50 pounder but shoot it's half the price pp but then the shipping eats me alive. Oh well, enough gripping.
  11. I usually clean up most everything but my soaping pot. I have found that leaving the stick blender till the next day isn't such a good idea :rolleyes2 When I go to clean out my pot I take a scraper and get as much of the soap out of the pot as I can (I make soap balls out of this) then wash it.
  12. I have made them using whole flax seed and dried herbs. I usually made them out of flannel material. I have the ingredients let me know if you want some.
  13. I am in need of some oils and butters (mainly mango, shea and coconut oil) and was wondering where you get yours. So far Colombus Foods seems to have the best prices but I'm not sure that I need 10# each of the shea and mango and the coconut oil almost doubles in price between the 7# and the 50# pail. Anyone here in the great white north want to share some oils and butters with me :smiley2:
  14. I saw an ad the other day for someone doing soy candles that said they use "unique" jars that they find at places like antique shops etc. Wonder how much testing they do/did since from the sound of things no 2 jars are the same.
  15. I've used both the Mango Papaya and the Lilac in 100% soy and good throw with both. I have soaped the lilac and that was nice too.
  16. Yep, there are two Bittercreeks, on in Texas and one in Wisconsin. That is where I got my wicking tools from BCN.
  17. I have both the wick setters and the wick center tools (both the single and multiple) I wouldn't trade them. They work so slick and really save time and effort!
  18. I have had pretty good luck with a RRD 50 in my square masons with 100% soy wax.
  19. I have done lots of soy candles with Peaks Spiced Cranberry, don't think I ever remember seeing one of them foaming. I use a 100% soy wax from Waxhouse.
  20. Without even knowing the type of wax it will be very hard for anyone to make suggestions. Where did you get the kit from? Can you contact them to see if you are using soy or parafin, and what type/size wicks etc. Also, let us know more about how you are making your candles, do you pour your wax hot, slushy, whatever. The more info you can give the better people will be able to help you.
  21. I have some Peaks Lilac that, at least to me, seems to be a pretty true scent. I have used it in both soy and CP and have several people that really liked it. Said it smelled just like the flowers.
  22. After I saw your post on the temp board I went and looked at my catalog. They have the soap bowls in black w/white letter for .88, the blue splash large mugs with lids for $1.00 and some smaller plain color mugs for $1.13. I don't see the Welcome Friends bowl but they have the "the good stuffs in here" bowl for $1.50. I really want some of this stuff but not sure I need $200 worth. I am also not sure I am ready to do a co-op with this stuff again since most of it DOES NOT fit in any kind of box you can get from the post office and the last co-op I did with it just about made me a crazy woman
  23. YEA :yay: We're ALIVE. Boy It's amazing how much ya can miss a internet forum, and people you don't even know!!
  24. I know I have seen auctions for them on Ebay.
  25. Chris, I don't want to go to a 8oz country comfort as I already do a 8oz square mason. I musta been have a oldsheimer moment, I thought someone had mentioned the place in Iowa. Actually it's in Urbandale I can't remember the name but I have a phone number if you want it. I had checked with them about a year ago on the square masons. At the time they told me .56 per jar but you had to get 446 jars to the tune of about $250. At the time DH was working in Des Moines and could have gotten them home for me but I just didn't have anyplace to keep that many jars. Also I really like the zinc lids with my masons and they didn't offer them.
