  1. I've cp'd Casaba Mist. It went to mashed potatoes/rice pretty fast. I would recommend soaping very cool and no stick blender.
  2. try Fillmore containers http://www.fillmorecontainer.com/product.asp?deptID=1&sku=A08%2D12C&sID=5KCCWUPV1KMB8MNJC5J3874M8DUD5VFC
  3. I soaped Peak's Lilac last summer and if I remember correctly it behaved very nicely and was a nice strong lilac (both in cp and soy)
  4. Most of the time when I do a goatsmilk soap I don't color at all. They all turn a nice creamy tan color and I just let it go at that.
  5. There is a lot of info on this site, along with a tutorial on cp soap making. Most everyone here would also recommend this site http://www.millersoap.com/ as a good place to get info. You can probably get as much/better info on the net as you will in a book and here it's free!! Good luck, and just be aware that soaping can quickly become an addiction
  6. I soaped Peaks Wild Mountain Honey the other day. I tried a piece of it in the shower and sure didn't get much of a lather even with a bath scrubbie. The recipe is one I have used for a while and have always been happy with the results. Only thing I can think of would be the FO (which would really be a bummer cause it smells awesome)
  7. Beautiful soap! Satsuma Guava is one on my favorites and also one of my best sellers.
  8. Don't do much M&P but I think they would work OK for that. I know you could not use them for cp soap unless they were stainless but m&p should be just fine. Bet they will be cute.
  9. JMHO, but if you plan to sell you would be wasting your time and money starting out with a container you won't plan on selling. You might as well pick your containers and start your testing in it/them.
  10. I cp'd Peaks Key Lime the other day and does it ever smell wonderful. It behaved very nicely, and so far it has not turned a funky yellow color. CareBear, don't know what I did but it's still a pretty creamy color with a light green swirl hope it stays that way!! I want to try it in soy, anyone have any opinions on it. I hope since it's a citrus I don't get a fuel smell.
  11. I don't do M&P but had some and thought I would try a confetti type soap with some colored cp I had. Well, I must not have lined the log mold very well cause some of the m&p leaked between the mold and the freezer paper. I have tried freezing it I can see the main part of the soap shrunk up but IS NOT coming out of the mold. What can I do, help!!
  12. Ouch, hope it heals quick. I found out the other day just how sharp the edges are too, I was luckier than you though not a real bad cut.
  13. I have some bars of cp soap that I did and forgot the FO:cry2: They are colored so I was thinking I could cut them up or shave them or something and make a loaf of m&p with the colored stuff inside. Will this work? Thanks
  14. I've used Peaks Lilac in cp and also in soy. It's strong in both and one of my best selling smells.
  15. Welcome to the forums, it's a great place to get info. Have you checked out Peaks? They are in Colorado so not too far away. I get most of my FO's from them and they are GREAT. I feel your pain with the shipping thing, I live in west central Minnesota and there isn't much as far as suppliers that are close to me either. I do get my soy wax from someone in state. Google Waxhouse/Scentmasters and see what they would charge for shipping since we are only a few states away.
  16. Dang it I did a green swirl in the Key Lime. Wonder what that will eventually look like...pond scum:grin2:
  17. And I do it another way. I add about 1TBSP/ppo into my oils and stick blend well before I add my lye.
  18. Has anyone else soaped this one. I just did, was all ready to try a 2 color swirl got my colors all mixed up added the fo to the pot and wham she went to riceing. Stick blended it sorta into submission dumped the colors into the pot stirred quick and slammed it into the mold. We will see what happens. I also did a batch with Peaks Key Lime. I love that smell, it behaved very nicely so at least I have that to look forward to.
  19. I know it will stay good for 6-12 months in the freezer, not sure how long otherwise. Can you mix up your stuff and put it in a freezer?
  20. I also have an older version of Print Shop and I think that on my program the labels are called Avery kids big (or small) round. Try looking them up that way, on my list they are not too far doen the list.
  21. Both here too. I am a body wash convert and try to convince everyone else to be one too I didn't realize just how hard on the skin commercial soaps/washes are til I started making and using my own soap!
  22. OK, I sorta made this recipe. I used mango instead of shea and for the oils I used sunflower and jojoba. I gave out some samples to friends this weekend so we will see what feedback I get.
  23. We also have a bear season here in Minnesota. My main objection to the way bear is hunted is how they put out bait and get the bears used to coming to a spot a few weeks before the season. To me that's not hunting, but then I don't think sitting in a deer stand right above a deer trail is very sporting either. Now if you can go out into the woods with a bow...
  24. Also with Kennedy's I think the minimum order is $200. I don't ever have time pickingout enough stuff to meet that I just have a hard time paying for it
  25. 12 oz would be a much more manageable size to start out with. You won't use all your supplies up so fast, and can you imagine how long it would take to test burn a quart size candle all the way to the bottom  Good luck and welcome to the addiction.
