  1. I just tested Apples and Maple Bourbon from CandleScience and I must say it's awesome. It has a great hot and cold throw. Love the combination of the tart apples and the touch of bourbon. I make tarts so I used IGI 4794 and added the fo at 6%. Blends easily into the wax. One thing I am not crazy about (or at least I know my customers won't be) is the name. Any suggestions for renaming this? Nancy
  2. I buy my IGI wax from Candlescience. The shipping for me is cheaper than buying closer to home - go figure! Anyway, the 4794 dropped about $20 a case in the past couple of weeks.
  3. I just make melts - no candles. I just started in July and have sold over 8000! Most of my business is wholesale. I also do rosehip blends. I don't even sell the warmers!
  4. That quote seems exceptionally high. I ship UPS from Ohio to New England almost weekly since that's where most of my wholesale accounts are. I just sent a 26 lb box yesterday and it was 14 bucks. A couple of weeks ago, I sent a shipment that was split into 4 boxes and weighed a total of 110 lbs. and the total was $53. Any time you take your packages to a retail outlet, they hike up the price. You should get an account with UPS, pack your items yourself and you can drop them anywhere that UPS picks up daily. You can even flag down a driver and give it to him!!! It is a whole lot cheaper to do it this way. As for splitting an order, I would rather be safe than sorry. If I'm figuring correctly your candles would be over 50 lbs. I think something that heavy would risk bursting the box. (Every time I get in a case of wax, the box is split open)!! UPS will help you set up an account. It's very easy and they will just send you a bill weekly or you can pay with credit card as you go. So much cheaper than taking it someplace to send it. Nancy
  5. aplasticbag.com I buy from them and their prices and service are both great. Nancy
  6. I get mine from Candle Science. Used to get it at WSP but they discontinued it. Nancy
  7. I use 4794 and haven't noticed any difference at all. Still requires a repour and the scent throw is very good. Nancy
  8. Wilton has a cute pumpkin mold. It has 24 cavities and is 9.99. If you live near a Joann Etc. they often have 40% coupons on them. I've used their silicone molds for tarts and they're awesome. Nancy
  9. Adam, Don't be so hard on yourself. I think it's a very nice article and your products show up well. I don't think anyone would give a second thought to seeing something listed in the article that has been discontinued. The article will direct them to your website where they will find something else they love and must have. Congratulations. I hope you get lots of orders from it. Nancy
  10. Try www.sfherb.com or, if you're in the east, their sister store www.atlanticspice.com Nancy
  11. I found a great source for Polypropylene bags. They are by far the cheapest I've seen. www.aplasticbag.com They're in California and I'm in Ohio, but even with the shipping, they were the better deal. Nancy
  12. I've been using IGI 4794 for my melts. I just started selling them recently after months and months of testing and have been doing well. Now, my supplier has discontinued this wax and recommends IGI 4641 or 4625 as a replacement? Do I need to retest all of my scents? Has anyone used either of these waxes? This is so frustrating as I have a lot of orders and really don't want to switch now, but there are no suppliers close enough to me to justify the high shipping.
  13. I was talking to someone from a scent manufacturer today about scent throw. He told me that the people at his company never could understand why candlemakers added their fragrances at such a high temperature. He said when they make test candles they melt them to just above the melt point. He said that when a fragrance excedes its flash point, elements of the fragrance start to dissipate, reducing its strength. Has anyone heard this? nancy
  14. Is Apples -n- Oak considered a fall scent?
  15. Yes the lids will fit both sizes as long as they are both either regular or wide mouth jars. Nancy
  16. I'm making melts using IGI 4794, orange/clove fragrance oil and liquid dye from candlemaker store. I want to make an ivory melt but when using the recommended amount the melts turn out more yellow. Does this have anything to do with the fact that the fo is orange in color? If so, how can I make an ivory tart? Nancy
  17. Does anyone know where I can find this soap dish?? Thanks! Nancy
  18. I have an Epson CX9400. The main reason I use Epson is, like BeagleBaby said is the ink does not run. I make primitive crafts in addition of my tarts and rosehip blends. I dye all of my labels in a coffee solution to age them AFTER they are printed. Never had one run yet. Nancy
  19. Personally, I will not deal with Royal. It took me forever just to get samples. The sales rep really couldn't give me any descriptions or recommendations. When I told him what I wanted it seems that there is only one person who gives prices. I told him I didn't want to test things that might be out of my price range. Didn't matter. I told him what I wanted and finally a few days later the price person got me a quote. Too much bother. Bell-Aire was very good to work with as was Lebermuth. Nancy
  20. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. I don't understand how USPS and UPS and other shipping companies get away with rounding up to the next pound. If you were purchasing a product in a store, and they tried to charge you for 3 lbs of meat instead of what the scale reads (let's say 2 lbs. 3 oz.) they would get in huge trouble if they did this. Why can they get away with it? Nancy
  21. Has anyone tried these? Price seems too good to be true. Would appreciate any input. Nancy
  22. Someone suggested blending 4794 and 6006 to avoid repour and increase fragrance load. If I blend these 75% 4794 (maximum FO load 6%) and 25% 6006 (max. fo load 10%), what is the new maximum fragrance oil load max? Is there a way to figure this mathmatically or do I just have to play with it? Thanks! Nancy
  23. Thanks again. I'm going to give this a try. Nancy
