  1. Resolution is 1024 x 768, browser is IE something 6 maybe. Now I feel silly. I don't even know what version IE I have.:rolleyes2
  2. I am impressed. I think you have some serious business sense and good for you. I know nothing about making candles but you obviously do. I think your drive is going to make your business stand out. I like your site. It felt relaxed when I looked at it. I don't know how it shows up on everyone elses screen but on mine shopping cart is shopping car. It's like it's tabbed out of the table or whatever. Otherwise cudos to you. I'm excited for ya.:highfive:
  3. Ants are such a pain. Mine really aren't too sticky and not too greasy. I actually really like the texture. I'm sorry I didn't get bigger tubes though. It still seems like it'll last quite a while because it doesn't take too much. Better luck with your next go round.
  4. I've only got one clean scent and haven't used it yet but smells really good right out of the bottle. It's Stone Washed Cotton from Day-Star. My daughter loves it.
  5. You guys are making me so jealous. I just checked out their site and so can not wait until I can place an order.
  6. I attempted to make "kimberly's whipped shea" the other day without actually checking my measurements. Dumb, dumb, dumb! My creative side got the better of me and I thought, well, okay so I didn't think. It wasn't a total waste though. It's still good stuff for my feet but not what I was after. And then, Last night I made lotion bars that are, drum roll please.... AWESOME! I didn't think I would like them but they looked easy enough so I gave it a shot. I used, beeswax, shea, mango then added sao & macadamia oil. I scented with an oatmeal, milk & honey & wasn't impressed (not strong enough) so then I added some vanilla. The scent is good if you like vanilla, it reminds me of a baby scent thought. I'll see what Bug (dd) thinks. I did have to reheat and all went well but I'd like to make sure that that's okay with the fo already added? Low temp, quick bursts? What if I used eo, still okay to heat? I used a total of 6oz. of product plus fo and ended up with 10 (eight usable, I made a mess) twist up tubes that are supposed to measure .2 - .3 ounces. I wish I could post a pic, they are such a pretty yellow. I'll do it again today and use a summer scent. I'm so excited!!! It's official, I'm addicted!!!
  7. Love 'em. Nice and Sleek.
  8. Hard to tell. At first I thought maybe too much white. Then I went to your site and it looks like you have a b/w theme going so now I like it. Looks good to me. Am I too new to make a suggestion that may not mean didly? (Did I spell that right?) Oops - no suggestion........... I was having a brain fart.
  9. I'm sorry but dumb question. I'm a newbie, who is Peaks? I did a search and couldn't find them.
  10. In my unwritten job description, for the business my husband & I have, it says screen customers. If they don't seem like they will be worth the hassle, I refer them to someone else. If he does do a job & they turn out to be too difficult, we don't work with them again. You don't want to have to put your time & energy into a bad customer. You need it for the good ones. Once a PITA, always. When you run a business you get 2 kinds of customers. The good and the bad. Your job is to keep the good ones, they pay and if they do complain it's a reasonable complaint that you can remedy. I would resolve this situation however I had to, keeping my good name and make sure that under no circumstances I was in this position again. Be nice but be honest. It's hard for someone to argue/bad mouth you because you said you can't afford to give her free products all the time (or whatever the case may be). I'm sorry she's treated you this way when what she should be is humble and offering to do for you. Unfortunately, the world is full of all kinds. Feel better though it happens to everyone.
  11. Yuck to the Crisco. This is a spray, I hated having that crap on my fingers and this has anti-bacterial and anti-inflamitory properties among other things. But yah, if I had to choose between Crisco & oitment, I'd go with Crisco too. Beleive it or not you just put me back on track. Thanks, I better go write this down before I forget again.
  12. I read a marketing book some years back and it quoted a millionaire that ownes hotels. I don't remember his name, ICRS. He said, "You don't want everyone to like what you do. You want 10% to love it!". Being that I'm from SWFL, I think you found your 10%. I love tropical scents!
  13. I'm doing this in addition to bath & body. I will have a complete line of products marketed to women in their 20's to 40's, teens to come later (for my daughter, 13). This particular formula can actually serve to be either A) single multipurpose product or several different products. This stuff is great for rashes, sunburn & ant bites. My MIL used it on her hives and she says it worked when nothing else helped. If I do A I'm stumped on packaging it, if I do B it costs more to package. I live in Florida so I can market it at the beaches for the sunburn. Other than that all I can do is a web page, word of mouth and free samples. I can't do the baby isle because I'm not in the position to do the whole upc code thing. I've chose not to finance any of this so it's all out of pocket. Occ. licence, insurance, incorporation, web site, packaging, supplies, samples and the list goes on and on. Which, by the way, I haven't even began to touch on all of that because I'm still formulating. Then I'm still undecided on whether or not people care about parabens from preservatives in their products. I didn't, then I read up on it and now I don't know. Then I think, I don't want to put anything in a product for a baby or anyone for that matter, that could be bad. So again still more market/medical research. What's your opinion?
  14. I checked out the ing's on the Calmoseptine and a preservative didn't jump out at me. After giving it some thought though I think maybe the menthol and the baking soda could help aid in preservation. They do have a few ing's I'm not familiar with though and couldn't find the right info on them. I still need to do more research. It seems like the more I do the more questions I end up with. Did I mention I've been at this for *8* months. I must be crazy but I just really believe in this product and I really enjoy every aspect of formulating and learning about the best ingredients, what they do & how they do it. I have an entire list of things to do but at the rate I'm going, I may be dead before I get anywhere close.
  15. Well said! I took that advise from my Grandma years ago and it saved my sanity. Now, my children are 13 (girl, Bug) and 8 (boy, Bubba). They attend 2 different schools, on different sides of town at different times. I will NOT let them ride the bus, therefore I drive them. In addition, we have a lot of 4-h animals to be tended to, and run our own business (read: wife on call constantly)! This is all good and I consider myself a very lucky girl. I just want to plan out my me time. This is very important to me and I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to certian things and if I can't finish what I start or mess up because of my lack of planning it takes the fun out of it for me. But I am getting my groove!
  16. For the last 8 months I have been working on tweaking a tried and true diaper rash formula. And I do mean tried and true. It will clear up a diaper rash within no more than 4 days, usually 2 to 3. It doesn't contain any drugs and is so much easier than the usual methods. My tweaking is only to make it more appealing to the general public. By no means is this formula perfected yet (testing & preservation need to be checked) & I won't go anywhere with it until it is. I'm usually pretty good at thinking outside the box but my brain is shot. I have researched, read, re-read and researched some more. I have overdosed on so much information that I just can't think. So someone, anyone, everyone, please tell me what you think. Should I patent? What would this do for me? I could do a provisional patent at first to keep costs down so this would not be a financial issue. How can I market it so it's legal without jumping through all of the "OTC drug hoops"? They don't really seem to approve too much in the way of this kind of treatment. However, it could still be an option if the cost was low. Does anyone know what the proper wording would be such as "not fda approved" or whatever. I looked but couldn't retain any info. I told you my brain is shot. I live in Florida, to have an internet based bath & body business do I really have to go through all of the b&b "bs" that we have here (we have to register every product and pay for every product). I want to do it but would prefer to postpone the expense until I make sure that the market loves my products.Okay so this was my brain dump...... Sorry if I rambled. Input Please. I'm stumped!
  17. Very pretty. It reminds me of the water in the Keys!
  18. I did a google search for you and the only thing I found was something called Preservative K? I don't know what it is but it may be a starting point for you. It said "it's used by green cosmetics companies world wide". HTH.
  19. Thanks a bunch Lady. I totally messed up a formula one day because I didn't give myself enough time and ended up rushing. If I hadn't been documenting what I was doing I wouldn't have even known. Luckily, it wasn't a major waist, just really annoying. I suppose it's all part of the learning process but I like to try to learn from my mistakes.
  20. I currently run a business from home while taking care of my 2 children, pets not included..... Time is really tight around here sometimes and I don't want to start something I can't finish & clean up. I've found myself scrambling on some other things I've made and would prefer to avoid the chaos if possible (I have enough of that). Can anyone tell me how much time I should allow myself to make body butter & the whipped shea?
  21. Did you do a search for eo linen spray?
  22. Thanks ya'll, I appreciate the info.
  23. I don't know how it would work for the bath pillows and such quality wise but maybe your Dollar Store or Wal-Mart for the duckies. I've also read on here that some people have really good luck on baskets too. No shipping! That's always a plus.
