1. Beautiful soap and a simply gorgeous way to display them. I checked out the Ikea website for the soapdishes, great buy for $ .99 US, but in Canada the identical item is $ 2.99!!!!
2. Beautiful job, love the colouring. I love how your "icing" is piled high. I make the Cupcake Soaps, CP, and let the "icing" get to a thick trace and pipe on top, but mine won't pile like that. I see more experimenting in my future. LOL
3. I purchased a roll of 4" - 1500 feet, 100 guage Shrink Wrap from Durapak in California, and it works beautifully. I cut mine to 4 1/4" and they fit. I am wondering if maybe you need to trim part of the 4X6 bags so that you do not have too much excess which doesn't shrink causing the wrinkle? Not sure what you mean by "thin out" HTH
4. If she only wanted to know if you knew what you were doing, why does she need to know where you buy your supplies from?
5. Just so I understand, you also have to attend to your own booth during the weekend AND work 8 hours for them, or pay $ 75.00 to hire someone else, during the weekend???So your cost for the weekend could be $ 150.00 PLUS 13% of your sales?? If you are working your own booth and talking people into sales, and then they will go onto the next vendor, purchase something and then go to a cash register and pay for ALL their purchases then? Is that what you mean?
6. I have been putting pure Shea Butter, mixed with a little Shea Oil, on my face every morning and night for the past year. I wish I had started doing this in my 30's, but I didn't. Love it. What exactly does this mean?
7. Thank you all very much for the compliments, I appreciate it.
8. If the show has not been cancelled, I think you are SOL on getting your money back. Now, don't take this the wrong way as I don't know your financial situation, but seeing as it was only $30.00, and you want to go to the other show, I would forget the $ 30.00 and register for the bigger show. Seriously, if you were organizing a Show and people starting backing out less than a month to go, would you cheerfully refund the money?
9. Yes, a regular size cupcake. The cupcake is CP soap, and I just piped on a thick traced soap for the frosting. Sorry, I guess I should have supplied alot more information when posting. My name, description, scent, weight and on the back, INCI (took from supplier website). The blue is an Ultra Marine Blue mixed with glycerine. I have been having the greatest time making all this stuff.
10. Great props and great looking soap. Just love the wavy cutter.
11. This is my first posting in the gallery, and I hope you like them.
12. Funky Foam???? Also, did you try greasing, or applying some oil, to the pan prior to putting the garbage bag or freezer wrap on. They might help it stick a little better. HTH
13. Very stylish display and a great price. What a great son you have.
14. I really like the looks of that soap. Gives me something to strive for. Thanks for sharing.
15. Although I don't believe it is applicable in this situation, if shipping to Canada via UPS and the cost of the goods is UNDER $ 20.00 Cdn. there is no brokerage fees, duties, or taxes.
16. I thought "Lush" soaps were M&P, not CP. Also, I have to agree with Hibiscus after visiting your website, look in the Gallery and you will see beautiful CP soaps. Maybe try using samples in the Gallery as a guide and you should change your mind about CP being ugly.
17. Was reading a book recently and found out one of the smells that gets a "man in the mood" was licorice, along with pumpkin pie. Maybe you can use that as a selling point. I think we could be twins. :) I have my miniature mare Opal under camera now. Nice swirling soap.
18. Boy, do I hear you on that one and I find it very frustrating, especially when they won't ship to Canada.
19. I just use a pyrex measuring cup with a pouring spout. Works like a charm.
20. Hi Melany: I am not sure where in Canada you are, but I am in Ontario and I purchase my lye at the local Home Hardware store.
21. Very creative and inventive. Love it and thanks for sharing.
22. I have used unrefined shea that was a green tinge. Worked great. I will only use unrefined shea as that has all the healing properties and nutrients in it. I love the smell of unrefined shea. I think unrefined shea is like liver, you either love it or hate it. :laugh2:
23. Yes, I did. The white parts do not ooze, so I am glad that it is not the lye. I did another batch, using the exact same oils, but hand stirred the lye in and then SB and it was perfectly smooth and no white pieces. Thanks for your help in this matter, it was appreciated. Lesson learned.
24. On the weekend I tried ITMHP, but I think the problem started at the beginning. I did RT and when I added my lye mixture, instead of stirring it together, I stupidly used the stick blender and found a big glob of white formed. I scraped it off the SB and used a spoon and wisk to try and incorporate it all together and was somewhat successful, or so I thought. I then SB to a light trace, add FO, (Rice Flower and Shea Oil), experienced a somewhat ricing, and kept SB. Everything looked okay and poured into mold and put in 170 oven for 2 hours. When I cut it the next day, no zap, but white spots appeared in the soap, and I am worried that it might be from the lye mixture clumping on me. Should this be a candidate for rebatching, garbage, or just for personal use. It does produce a nice lather and did not redden my hands. Sorry, no pictures available.
25. Now, I am really confused. . When you say oils, are you also including butters in that statement. Sorry, to be so anal. I thought it was total amount of oils/butters used. ie. 33 oz. Coconut Oil and 11 oz. of Shea butter used, so 44 oz. of salt would be added. Now that is interesting, does this make a hard bar? Also, just to clarify and make sure I understand this correctly, you would use 22 oz. of salt in your recipe. Also, does anyone superfat their Salt Bar Recipe and if so, what rate do you Superfat at?
