  1. Being successful depends on what your goals are. You have to look at the whole picture not just part of it. I first started early last year making bath and body items first. Then I tried tarts. After making tarts I was hooked. I opened a store in September. Sales were slow at first. But I have kept up with it by adding other items such as balloons coustom gift baskets and flowers. My tarts have been a really big seller. But my lotions and gels and sprays were slow to start. Since I have been giving free samples of items to try people have been buying more and my business is getting much better. I have a long way to go to get the store were I want it to be. But with the goals I have set for the new year I know we will just get better. Regina
  2. Ops I meant I heat to 180-185 Then add scent and pour at 150-155. Was distracted by grandkids while typing Regina
  3. I use ecosoya piller blend. It works the best for my tarts. Regina

  6. Hi all I had a question about making votives in silcone molds. I noticed that in the silcone molds there is no hole for a wick pin. So how do you place the wick in the mold. Do you add it while it's drying or put a whole in the candle and place the wick when it's dry. Any info would be grateful. Thanks regina
  7. Brooklyn Biscotti and Chocolate Tea Really ROCK Regina *super banana*
  8. Hi I have been making tarts for quite awhile now. I use the EcoSoya piller wax. As for scents I use alot of scents from Peaks,Solas and Just Scent. Everyone on this board has there own ideas on who has the best scents. So you will just have to order some samples and see which ones you like best and which ones work well in your wax. When I make my tarts I weight out a pound of wax heat to about 150 155 degrees. Add my color stur like mad and then add my scent and sturr like mad again. When I'm done mixing I pour into my molds and let dry. Tarts were very easy for me to make. And they are a big seller in my store. This week alone I must have sold at least 100 packs of them. There is alot of trial and error in candlemaking. You will just have to test test test. Regina santa chee
  9. For the new year I plan on organizing my stuff better. Cleaning out all my FO'S and only having so many scents to offer. I also plan on adding more candles in my store. I also want to learn to make pillar candles. And last but not least. Finally take out my new light box and use it. I also want to get more business into my store. Merry Christmas Everyone. santa chee Regina
  10. This year has been slow for me. I opened my store in sept.and people still don't know were there. I have done lots of advertising but they tell me it takes time to get a good coustmer base going. I have alot of plans for next year, So I think things will be better. I am hopeing to have my website up and running by the end of january. I am a very stubborn person and will not give up. Good luck all in 2008. May you all have GREAT sales Regina *super banana*
  11. I know how fustrated you must be. I opened my store 3 months ago and it has been very slow. When I first researched it everyone was all gung ho about it and there was a need for a Bath and Body store in my area. But now that we have been open business is very slow. We are lucky to get one person a day in there. I have been so upset by this that some days I don't even want to go in there. We have been trying everything to get people in there. So like you I am almost ready to give it up. I know they say it takes time to get going but I wonder how much time. But a wise person told me to step back and take a deep breath and keep trying. So I am not giving up yet. Maybe you need to take a step back and then try to go forward again. Don't let one person ruin your chances of having a great business. Regina
  12. I was thinking about trying that If these new wick samples I just bought don't work. I don't mind double wicking. But I know some people do. Regina .

  14. I have been using the 4627 wax and a 11 oz tumbler with an opening of about 3.5 in. 1.5 oz of FO. I was using zinc wicks. I have been having trouble getting the wax to melt off the sides of my tumbler. I have a great scent throw hot or cold. I have been using the largest size they have in zincs. But I am wondering If they are not hot enough to melt the wax. What would any of you recomend for this size tumbler. I almost have a candle that I am happy with now If I can get these wicks licked I will be very happy. Regina

Or does all your profets go to who ever you are doing the fundraising for. Or do you just take out for supplies. I was thinking about doing one for my grandson's school. Any Info would be very helpful. Thanks Regina
