  1. I was testing Ginger Peach from Alabastor..It has a good hot throw..I don't think it fills up my whole house..but I do like the smell..
  2. I am testing a new FO..I am using GB 415. with a 4" diamater jar..and double wicks. In 3.5 hrs I have a total burn pool about 1/2". Does this seem to be about the right ratio..for burning? the jar is warm but not hot..Just thought I would ask some of you that has been doing this alot longer than me..
  3. I knowticed that Sugar Milk is back at ICS..Has anyone used this with GB 415 and had good results? I had read where lots of people were dissapointed that, it had been discontiuned. So was just wondering about the hot throw in GB 415..It is back for a limited time..unless it sells good..
  4. I did not care much for the sissies sugar cookie either..in my GB 415..
  5. Thanks..I do have to double wick, as my jars are 4" diameter..I have tried CD wicks and they seem to do well double wicking.. Thanks for all the input
  6. I poured Violet Lime with 8oz of GB 415 5/8oz. of FO had a great hot throw..
  7. hey bizzybee..thats nice to offer to do that..:highfive: that is what I love about this forum.. I have only been a member for a very short time. I have learned so much, buy reading here. and I can see the way every one is so willing to give advice and a helping hand.. To newbies like me, it is really encouraging..
  8. Thanks..I will have to order some testers..and give these a try. Do any of you that said these are good in soy..do you use GB 415?
  9. I am looking for a good Mulberry Scent..I use GB 415..and would like it to have a really strong hot throw..any help or suggestions would be of help..
  10. I have noticed that several of you candlemakers, have stated in different threads, about the type of wicks you use and don't use..I am using GB 415 and use CD wicks..Can there be a different throw using different types of wicks, with the same batch of wax and fo? What are most of you using for wicks in GB 415? Just something I was wondering about..and I know there are alot of more experianced candlemakers than me out there..What say you..
  11. Thanks,,I add my FO at about 170 degrees..and stir stir stir..lol
  12. Just recieved notice for the 4th of July sale. Free shipping on all orders over $50. It is from June 30, until July 5th 4pm.. I have never ordered from them any must haves for GB 415 soy? They seem to have some good FO. But wanted to ask here first.
  13. I am not one of the more experianced candle makers here..but..I use all soy..I have used 3 or 4 of there FO's 1 of them was Buttery Gingerbread, and I have not had good luck with them..The buttery gingerbread is a WYW and to me it had a burnt smell..I use GB 415 and 464..I was not getting a good hot throw..But don't let that discourage you,,if you use a different type of wax, you could get an entirely different smell.
  14. Just was wondering if anyone has bought from these two sellers on Ebay? byrd46740 amditributors (buys their oils they say from IFT ) They seem to have some good sounding FO's but just wanted to check with all of you here first.. If anyone has bought from them that uses GB 415 & 464 and they work good for you..could you chime in on what you think.
  15. thanks for the reply...the new wicks want to pull out of the pins...
  16. To those of you much more knowlegeabe...Can the same type of wick,,for instance CD wicks....can they be different from one brand to another? I have been buying my CD wicks from one person...I ordered some samples from another company,,and needed wicks, they had CD wicks, I bought them...but they do not seem the same..so was wondering.. Also another question..can one type of wick work in a FO where another type does not work well for scent throw? ...I know I have been asking a lot of questions, but I don't know a better place to ask..
  17. It seems that alot of the fruity, pineapple, tropical FO's are really hard to get that does not have that fuel smell..Does everyone have that happen to them, or is it just me..
  18. YES..In the comment box put June News.. I just recieved my first order from them.. I have poured Caribbean holiday, but not burned yet. If it smells half as good burning as it does curing I will jump up and down with glee..
  19. fire and ice...what type of soy do you use....i have tried Enchanted Lite's..Sugared Spruce..and it is reall good..i have used it in GB 415..
  20. I do what to clarify..I use 2 wicks in my jars..I didn't explain that..But they vary from 8's to 12's
  21. thanks stella...you are up kind of late tonight....You know I have kind of found what wicks work in my containers..it seem like the size i use the most is the CD 10..once in a while i have to wick up one or down one..my jars are all the same diameter they are just different in height..my biggest problem it seem now is just finding the fo that really throw good...maybe i am asking to much..but what i want is scents that when you light up that you can really start to smell them with out having to put my nose almost in the candle..is that unrealistic? but yes i probably need to reavaluate what I am doing..and try to narrow it down..and not try to do it all today..lol
  22. One other thing I want to say and forgot..the reason for the beeswax,,as in a earlier thread I mentioned the Mia Bella Candles..They from what I understand have started using beeswax to help with their hot throw..so I thought maybe it could help..
  23. Thanks for the reply...I am using the Terrece Jars from Fairway Glass,,10, 16 & 26 0z..4" diameter..I have used Fo from Flickers, BCN, BCS, ICS, Snowtop, Alabaster, and just ordered samples from the Tennesse Sale, and ordered from 2 suppliers from Ebay,,one which say their oil is from I F T ..I have used about all the wicks available..but have choosen the CD wicks...I have tried the ELM wax CB Advanced,,and now I am using GB 415 & 464..I try to follow the guide lines for heating , amount of FO for the soy wax, pour temp, but to be truthful, I am really struggling to get a good hot throw..I did test burn a new FO tonight that within 10 min. of lighting it I knew it would be good..It was Orange Peel & Cinnimon from Alabaster..but I have used dozens of samples and maybe 2 out of a dozen are keepers..So any help or direction, on something I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated...i just feel I am butting my head against a wall sometimes...AM I alone in this or does this happen to all of you candle makers..I will say I have only been at this about 6 months, so I know I have alot to learn..But my pocketbook is getting pretty slim...lol:laugh2:
  24. I was just wondering to those that add beeswax to their soy..what percentage would you add to 1 lb of soy? What are the advantages that you are getting by adding it? My reason I am wanting to try, is to see if I can get a better hot throw. But I thought I would ask first...
