  2. Cute? I didn't mention domain names. I mean on their front page of their website (aromafieldscandles) they say come and see US, aromafields on etsy. So aromafieldscandles are using the name aromafields too. Albeit it appears ON their website, its a business name, not the domain name
  3. does the candle not lose fragrance with being open at the top and bottom? (although putting your label on the bottom would solve one end)
  4. I know nothing of US law being in the UK, but just made an observation (might throw a spanner in the works, sorry). On the aromafieldcandles website, at the bottom, it says, see aroma fields on etsy, so aromafieldcandles are using the name aroma fields ok I'll go now :tiptoe:
  5. Hiya, in my safety assessment, for tea tree oil, theres a limit of 1% hth
  6. I use normal paraffin. I just make sure I pour the overpour slightly cooler than I make the chunks hth
  7. maybe something like we have in the UK would be more cost effective. You have to set out your manufacturing process, have your recipes safety assessed, all labels have to be as per regulations etc, you have to keep Product Information Files that can be inspected should authorities wish too. Theres still no pre-requisite for insurance, although anyone with half a brain has it. We don't however have to pay for a licence to sell. My soap Safety Assessment costs in rough equation $300, then there are seperate ones for other b&b, bath bombs, salts, melts etc. Do you think that would be a better way to go rather than having to regulate sellers? I do feel for you. Theres talk of regulating candle making over here, which as you, seems its going to cost the earth
  8. I'm in the UK, can I just ask, what legislation is in place at the moment in the US? Can anyone make soap and b&b and sell it, or do you have to have safety assessments etc?
  9. I love M&P, its so versatile. With these I've at last found a way to do a swirl/twirl. Oh and I got my pop colours today, lord I'll be soaping all weekend now
  10. Still busy practicing M&P and seeing what I can 'make' the soap do lol (yes, I've far too much time on my hands hehe) I made some plain white twirls and embedded them, 1st is a twirl loaf in Fig & Brown Sugar (I love this stuff) Next I put some in a slab mold, this one is fragranced with Exotic Mango. Hope you like them
  11. found one, but then I thought about a potato peeler tbh, I don't make that many actual bars, mostly loaves, but would like to tidy them up a little when I do, might try my trusty old tatty peeler in the meantime
  12. I've noticed that some of you have a nice bevelled edge to your soaps, thats put on afterwards. Is there a special tool, or is it a canny soapsters trick?
  13. not sure if you can buy a whipped soap base, never seen one myself. I whip my own. Just melt the m&p and whip it with an electric whisk, till light and fluffy, but work quickly with it, its sets up fast
  14. thanks for that Just ordered some of the pop micas am ok with those as they are micas, but the neons on other link are non-cosmetic. In my certification (I'm in the UK), can only use cosmetic grade Shame they looked lovely
  15. Hi, Is anyone aware of any 'different' non-bleed colours for melt and pour soap? In the UK, we can get a variation of waterbased ones for clear glycerin soaps, but the non bleed for say goatsmilk are very basic. Someones suggested some pop micas from the US, anyone use these? How do you get a powder blended into M&P. Or are there some nicer colours available in the US in non-bleed. I know you can mix the basic colours, but they never come out as I want. ta muchly x
  16. I know it's not much help but I did mine with a serrated knife, I sort of get over the top of the soap so I can see it going in
  17. Its actually some natural colouring from the poppy petals, they ran into the soap, to me it looks like the green part of the flower, topped with the petals, a lovely unexpected pattern.
  18. gel soap? thesoapbox, its just white M&P soap whipped
  19. thanks for the compliments I'm in the UK, we have to be certified to sell cosmetic products here The pie does look nice, but just spent the last 2 hours wrapping to shrink wrap them, that was fun
  20. Not posted for a while, although been reading I've just become certified to sell M&P soaps, and been busy, these are a few of the ones I've made so far: yesterdays 'Raspberry Cream Pie' Lovespell with Poppy Petals: Frosted Cupcake Soaps Almond Milk 'Chunk' Ylang Ylang EO 'Curl' Soap: Sorry its a bit picture heavy. I feel a bit like I'm betraying my wax, but for last few months, I can't stop making soaps (my wax still know I love it )
  21. I'd like to know how to successfully embed a photo into clear soap I've tried loads of different ideas with M&P, only been doing it a couple of months now, I'm always up for new ideas. Of course, that elusive swirl would be great to master. btw, whipped M&P, thats all I do, literally whip it and dollop it on
  22. thanks for the compliments I'm going to try some different colours tomorrow, can't decide which yet
  23. I really enjoyed making the soap roll recently, so this time decided to try two colours. Made a yellow and orange middle with white GM overpour. Had some left, so made another with orange and yellow chunks with white GM overpour. Both scented in Almond Milk.
  24. cows milk is too common, I mean, just about every udder one is cows milk soz couldn't resist lol. I think its richer isn't it? If it was good enough for cleopatra
