  1. I use fresh GM as well and never account for the fat in it. I SF at 5%, the GM's fat is just a bonus
  2. I've learned to embrace the tans and browns. Vanilla lovers do not mind it!
  3. It really may have nothing to do with superfat. your skin may not love one or some of the oils in that bar. for instance, my skins doesn't love soaps with high palm or olive. Some people have reactions to coconut oil. Have you used other soaps with similar percentages of ingredients?
  4. oooo, I don't like dusty! Maybe I will just stick with beads!
  5. I've always used beads/granules and have heard flakes have less static/mess. What are your experiences? Does it really make a difference?
  6. Never mind! I just needed to get to the ordering and it actually says "soap stamp" Duh!
  7. I'm about ready to order a couple of stamps from them. What kind did you get? Brass? Magnesium? I can't remember which is good for soap.
  8. All I use are log molds and they work great! But I am totally fine with gelling.
  9. I would think overheating too. That can cause it to separate.
  10. I do this as well, but I keep my unscented base in it.
  11. I've used pringle cans as molds before. I put mineral oil on the inside and peeled them off after. I didn't wrap them or anything and they turned out great. The only thing bad about it is you have to eat pringles!
  12. I wish we had a like button like FB! gorgeous!
  13. does it have zap? The only time I've had dry crumbly bars is when my husband was "helping" and put too much lye in....I now have many many laundry soap bars!
  14. I have found the overheating to be because of TOO much honey. It really heats the soap up, I've even had it get so hot with honey combined with certain fo's it separates.
  15. I don't know, but I can't imagine cleaning the thing effectively - yikes! I would have to be making lotions on a pretty massive scale to get one. I just fill a gallon ziplock similar to a frosting piping bag, snip the corner and fill the bottles - works awesome and no clean up!
  16. looks so awesome I might finally be persuaded to get and iphone!
  17. I agree with Shipping, or they could just be checking out your site.
  18. Yes, I know, I had my url for 4 years, which is why it bites to not have it anymore. But I'm moving on now anyway.
  19. This is a different direction than the last time. Same soap, new label, new look, just the overall feel of the business will be bolder and fresher.:yay:
  20. I already have it and made the logo and bought the URL - GO BIG OR GO HOME! - HA! It's going to be Soap Envy and the URL is mysoapenvy.com. soapenvy.com is taken but redirected to soap for hope, which is a risk, but I am really inspired by the name so maybe soapenvy.com will come available sometime and I can snag it, but hopefully people will remember the "my" in the beginning. My logo is my current avatar, I'm still thinking about the colors, but I kinda like the bold look of the purple and green. Now I am in process of getting the site up, even though I have nothing to put on it yet, but I want everything to be in place. I really like an OScart so I will be just hosting through hostgator and kinda doing my own thing in and oscart format. Thanks for the welcome!
  21. I don't want to have to pay extra for real time shipping and I don't with OScommerce.
  22. Thanks. I really really liked my oscommerce cart I used before. I'm thinking I will just go with hostgator and build my own because my logo is far different from the premade templates I have found anyway.
  23. I have to be honest, I don't really know. sometimes there are trace little black or gray things, I mean TINY - and I buy my lye from reputable suppliers. I just read it somewhere and have always strained it. but I don't if I'm making 100% milk soap because I can't due to the high fats of the milk. It doesn't seem to affect the soap. Also, when you make large batches of 50/50 lye like I do, there tends to be crystalization on top after cooling. I shake it up (it's stored in gallon jugs) and strain it again before adding it to my soap and there are always a few crystals here and there that I am glad are NOT in my soap!
  24. Lye is not totally pure and I always strain my solution through a mesh strainer after it is cooled.
  25. The lowest you should go with your lye to water ratio is 50/50 so say 4 oz lye to 4 oz water.
